When i still had a FB account, one day i sent Leland a quick message to tell him how much i loved his tone, mentionning btw that i wish i could talk to him and ask a few questions.
10 seconds later, i received a reply from him that only said ''Ask''.
We chatted for a solid 30 minutes, with me telling him every 5 minutes that i didn't want to hold him up from more important things, and him replying that i had great questions and he enjoyed chatting with me and wanted to continue.
It was a pure joy for me to be able to pick his brain about many bass-related things, and he was the sweetest guy.

As a classically trained bass player, I have learned to appreciate Leland for 2 reasons: 1. Leland exhibits perfect - and I mean perfect - technique that all bassists should emulate and 2. Zero Ego. Saw him in San Antonio years ago, yelled out his name and he waved back. Priceless.

That should read, "...is acceptable". (2) Your sentence of, "...is not generally used for emphasis..." should read, "....is not used for emphasis...". My use of a comma was correct English. (3) Never try to correct someone with a higher IQ, more formal education and much higher net worth. This lesson is over. 😆🤣😆🤣😆

Great interview! The reason that Andy Griffin called Leland is because 10 minutes after meeting, or in my case, watching and listening to him, you think he's your best friend! What a personable guy and a great story teller! I enjoyed every minute.

Rick, I was so excited to meet you and see Lee Sklar again after Lyle Lovett's show, that I forgot to thank you for turning me on to Lee with your first interview with him during the pandemic. Thank you! Lee Sklar is truly a global ambassador of music and humanity. He is such a nice, friendly guy and I appreciate his history with music in Japan being that I'm of Japanese descent. And Lee is such a humble guy. If you add pictures of all the people in the world who like him into his book, "Everybody Loves Me", it would be the biggest book in the world! Thank you again, and I look forward to seeing more nice musicians you will introduce to us in September as well as yourself.

I met Leland on Cape Cod when he was touring with Lyle Lovett’s Very Large Band. Beautiful easy conversation. When my wife & I went in and met Lyle, the first words out of my mouth were: “Dude, I just met Leland Sklar! That guy’s a legend!” Lyle said “Yeah, he’s pretty good.” (Kinda forgot who’s show I was at.) Lyle was a true southern gentleman, very classy guy. There are some very cool people in this business. 🤔🍷🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩

Leland's channel has widened my own appreciation of music and artists in so many good ways, and his daily content reflects his generous good nature. Any RB regular can find something of interest in the thousands of his channel's videos. Great Bands, on the road stories, car-pooling with Dolly Parton, he is the business, and, there's the knuckleheads. One of YT's greatest rabbit holes.

Great as always Rick! What a gift, Leland Sklar, what a dude. I try to play bass almost everyday, its a dream come truth to interface sound with a instrument, what a blessing, i guess singing would be the ultimate vibration, but not everybody has a great voice. I "follow" Lee as a bass player., what history and story. What makes people special and human is all but their craft and Leland is from distance a great guy, humble! Imagine what it is to create and be a part of modern music the way he is ... the story of the Wrecking Crew, so beautifull and real.

Lee is the consummate professional, and always has been. His credentials are mind-blowing, and he was the go-to bassist for decades and still a big hero to me. Sort of like Jim Keltner on the drums. No bravado, such a class act and probably too humble to acknowledge how important he is in the tapestry of music. Hats off to Rick, he definitely hooked a big fish!

I discovered Lee’s UA-cam channel early on in COVID and I was hooked. He is such a genuine guy, reponds to comments you post all the time. I kinda imagined him as some aloof strange guy when I’d see him on stage with James Taylor or Phil Collins but completely opposite and a musical treasure and hats off to Rick for letting me just talk, and not controlling the interview. I could listen to him talk all day.

Fantastic! I found Leland's YT channel just before your 2020 interview. Since then, I've come to adore this talented and hardworking dude with a giant heart. I've been through all the venues he's played through his videos, and gotten to know The Immediate Family.
With the documentary coming out soon, many more people will get to meet Lee, his basset hounds, and many of the musicians he's played with.
Great to see Mr Beato interviewing yet another of our national treasures.
