    I've only ridden Mine Blower, and it was a single ride in February 2023, so it still had all the wooden track. I had heard everything about how awful it runs on the track and I STILL couldn't believe how ungodly rough some of the valleys were. Thankfully the layout is so good that I still think positively of it overall, but jesus christ it ran absolutely awful.

    So the voyage is my favorite coaster. As of 2024 it is not very smooth. For the most part it isn’t bad, but on the triple down there is a nasty pothole that really beats you up. I hope they add some precut track there in the off season because it is brutal. But like I said the rest of the ride is about as smooth as any other woodie. I also feel like this is a ride where the roughness adds a lot to the ride, and the layout is sooo good that it easily makes my number 1 spot.

    Broadwalk bullet WAS the most compact rollercoaster in the world... Taron crosses hitself 116 times in approximatly 1,5 acres of land ;)

    • @reteledman
      @reteledman 6 місяців тому

      The Smiler at Alton Towers I think has the most track per square foot of space. I’m not sure about that though.

    • @CoasterCrafter662
      @CoasterCrafter662 6 місяців тому

      @@reteledman i'd say it's pretty similar, or slightly in favour of Taron : 1320m in approximatly 1.5 acres of land, while Smiler has 1170m of track in approximatly 1.35 acres of land (estimations made with Google earth).

    Actually, gravity group changed the layout of tonnerre de zeus, ad made it a differnet coaster (so tonnerre 2 zeus), so it's counted like a gravity group coaster (also, to bad for the backwards row being removed😭)

  • @rema1721
    @rema1721 6 місяців тому

    7:25 Taron cross itself 116 times so I think this is a better contender to be the world's most compact coaster

    With GG having a bit of a reputation for rougher than usual rides (Mine Blower, Hades 360), I'm honestly excited to see what their future holds now with their pre-cut track. imo, their layouts nowadays look better and more engaging than modern GCI...

    1 The Voyage
    2 Hades 360 (i love this since have a high roughness tolerance)
    3 Mine Blower
    4 Boardwalk Bullet
    5 Oscar's Wacky Taxi (I might enjoy this more than I should)
    6 Ravine Flyer 2 (thought the airtime was really weak but I rode it in the front in only the first hour of it opening and it was a dead day so that might explain why)

    8 Wooden Warrior

    The Voyage is on my list this year to get on. Every aspect of the ride screams that it'll be my new #1, but I don't want to have those expectations to take away from the experience

    • @zacg_
      @zacg_ 6 місяців тому

      If you need to tame your expectations so as to come in without over the top hopes of perfection, here are a few things about The Voyage that are good to know.
      First, the airtime is not necessarily extreme, just well sustained. The triple down is the exception, that is excellent airtime. But The Voyage is not like El Toro in having several moments of very strong airtime. What it has is A LOT of airtime.
      Second, while it's not necessarily rough, I wouldn't call it smooth. It does vary from year to year because Holiday World often does maintenance on it so you sometimes luck out and they'll just have retracted one of the rougher spots. But it has a strong wooden coaster bite that can be an issue depending on where you sit and when you go. Front row is fairly smooth.
      Finally, I wouldn't say it's especially reridable. It often has a few rough spots (though not terrible) and it's very intense and very long. Sort of like I305 or X2, you might find that it's really fun a few times but it kind of takes it out of you. I could ride a B&M hypercoaster all day without a problem. I could ride most RMCs all day. But it would be hard to get in a ton of rides on The Voyage. Now that might be a pro as opposed to a con depending on what you like. But it's good to be aware of.

  • @Redfoot138
    @Redfoot138 6 місяців тому

    I've only ridden the ones in your top 4 and I guess it's based on when I rode them, but I had totally different experiences 😂
    4) Boardwalk Bullet (rode it in 2009 both at night and the day)
    3) Voyage (rough as hell but people who rode it the same year as I did say it was running particularly bad that year)
    2) Hades 360 (I must have caught this one in a good year because it was just the right amount of roughness)
    1) Ravine Flyer (I absolutely loved this thing-- only negative is that they're PTC trains)

    • @CoasterDash
      @CoasterDash  6 місяців тому +1

      That’s the thing about wooden roller coasters! Depending on the year and maintenance, they may be running better or worse than normal.

    Hot take but not really: the PTCs on Voyage hold it back. With Timberliners or Millennium Flyer trains it would be god tier. I know they tried Timberliners, but I can dream.

    Hades was so rough…loved the layout however. Haven’t been back to ride it since the transformation. I rode Voyage and El Toro in their opening year to settle the debate on which one was better. I’ve been back several times to ride voyage and have never gotten a smooth ride. I keep getting square wheels. And in the first two seasons every ride I got was trimless. The layout is magnificent but those PTC trains beat me up. Great list!!!

    My top 2 Gravity Group coasters are both in your top 4! Voyage is far and away #1 for me, and then RF2 is 2nd. If you end up visiting Waldameer sometime soon, I'd suggest going during the end of the summer around labor day so you could get some night rides on RF2 (my 2nd favorite night ride). Nice list!

    I was really upset about the rmc retrack on Mineblower and spoke to Funspot Manager Scott about it. He told me this. This was going on for over a year. We went to Gravity Group first and unfortunately could not work out a solution. We decided to cut ties with them and due to the success of Aireforce One we are going with Rmc to be responsible for the ride and supply parts for the ride from now on. The trains will remain the same but will be made with parts from different manufacturer. Due to cost Mineblower won't be retracked with any more steel this year but as the track sections start to need it over time rmc will retrack it with more 208 track.
