- I hauled my first Uber Freight load from Van Nuys, CA to Stockton, CA. We are continuing to haul power only freight as a start up trucking business so we used Uber Powerloop. The rate per mile is less on Power Only loads but we need to keep this long hood Peterbilt 389 rolling. Watch every episode of this trucking vlog and subscribe if you'd like to follow the journey.
Wow!!! Car going wrong way on the Grapevine!!! Yikes bro!!! I have picked up at that Budweiser plant and it sucks there!!! Always heavy and takes forever to get out of there!!!! Your definitely learning the game and finding out that having your own trailer puts you in a whole different category!!!! I applaud your patience and good vibe as you plot your way through this madness of finding loads!!!! You keep doing what you do and your success is in site brother!!!! Enjoy your weekend and your family!!! See you on the next one!!! Stay blessed brother 🙏😎✌️
That car was going fast too!
When I first started O/O it was hard going. I also lost out on many loads because I listened to others telling me not to work to cheap.....So I changed my stance, I knew exactly what the minimum rate I needed to make it pay. So I would bid just over that rate and I was astonished to find that they either excepted that rate or counter bid down to my minimum rate.
This got me working and paying the bills. And started a working relationship with the Brokers. I know some others on you tube tell you to stick it out and only except the best rates. But you need to get a good relationship going with brokers first.
It will come, and once established YOU will get better rates, But dont miss out for the sake of a few cents per mile.
Yeah, I agree.. the sucky part is that I got the rates I held out for but then missed out on the good loads for random reasons.
@@Velox18 AWESOME video.
What year truck do you need for UBER freight?
How much per mile do you make on average?
Thanks
I enjoy watching your videos man! I'm learning along with you. Keep them videos coming. Nice Pete by the way, beautiful hueso😁. Subscribed.
Thanks bro! 🦴🦴🦴
While you’re learning we’re learning!! Thanks man. Keep on trucking!!
That's what I hope happens. I learn the hard way and ya'll can learn from my mistakes, lol.
No kidding about Chowchilla always open. I've been inspected there on Christmas morning. I only went through there because I thought they would be close... Good luck with your new business, keep the rubber side down.
Thanks bro!
New subscribers and man you local man I’m from Patterson. And I’m buying my own truck next month becoming O/O. See you on the road man
Heck yeah bro! I'll see you around for sure!
Bro your videos are amazing I learn a lot from you .You doing great job. God bless you
Thanks bro! Truck em easy!
Found you on recommended and I'm glad I did, I appreciate your positive attitude and sharing your journey man. You got a new sub and I'm in it for the long haul, stay safe out there.
Thanks bro!
Bad day at the office. You made it and showered at home take it as a win. Every time I’m in LA basin something happens where I get out on the roads at 5pm. I honestly try and avoid LA area as much as possible. I think your rates are pretty good for PO. I’ve done the same in a reefer. Sometimes you just need to get what you get and roll out. Keep it moving. Now you have a trailer to do a load in gonna be much easier for your next load.
Yep, I've got a couple fish on the line right now. 🎣
I go around chowchilla even when I’m empty! lol I never get the green light there.
I can't wait until I get a pre-pass.
I hate chowchilla, there’s a “female” officer there, that pull me for inspection with a good sticker, and she admitted that she knew my sticker was good, but she didn’t care, she would stop whoever she wanted to, I try never to go there.
Love your attitude! You make laugh
Get yourself a XM radio, never miss a game.
Dr. Sproul would have loved the theological justification for PC. I'm not sure if the pharisees at the DOT would have bought it.
That may not be a great rate in that market, but it's still a good rate.
Keep up the videos lot of us are learning from you 👍
Awesome!
You should probably just scale-out your Bobtail, that's what I did.
I believe my KW T680 is also around 17,000 pounds dry weight, And I have 2 small fuel tanks 75 gallons each.
I had my DEF full, My fuel takes full and my snow chains with me to get the maximum weight I can be, Just for my record.
I scaled out at 19,320 pounds, This way I know I only could get lighter from there lol.
I'm sure your feel thinks are much larger than mine.
P.s. The spirit of the law, that had me rolling....... But I'm with you, I hear you.
😂🤣😂🤣
I did that when I got my own trailer. I always planned to do it bobtail too but I never ended up doing it.
When your dealing with swift/knight call the brokers don't bid thats your tip of the day lol👍
Now you tell me! Lol
Get the hell out of the left side state. Go on just trucking. that guy owns his own truck and he's from California and he lives in South Carolina now and he's making a killing. Check him out.
@@Velox18 go on just trucking he is on UA-cam. he's a real nice guy and he tells you exactly what he makes in revenue, and he wants to see all owner operators make it. He's full of information. And he's from your side of the country.
I've watched his channel alot. Definitely a good one to learn how to do all this stuff. I even poked a little fun at him with a video I made a while back, lol.

Oh just saw the hat!!! NIce...Mike Reuter is an old old friend, I will show him your channel....
I don't know who that is but I'm guessing he's a big deal at Morning Star, lol. I was over there in Los Banos the other day.
@@Velox18 Ohhhh...sure you drove out of LB..? yeah mike and I drove together way wasy back...and he is still there..but up in Williams.
Hahahah. Chowchilla is ALWAYS open. I just hit the 152 and bypass. Watch out for the chips. They'll clock you from the other side of the freeway. No joke.
They call Chlwchilla scales 7-11cause they're always open. Lol
God Bless. Love your videos.
That is a really nice truck you got!
Thanks! It's my dream truck!
Don't forget, Amazon/uber,, are great. You got excellent co like Barr Nunn, Bennett flatbed, Bay&Bay, Landstar, Tmst.< very good co, don't know if they take on O/Is ?
Another thing to remember, you will have to get washouts on most loads and the wait times just to get a trailer washout are also ridiculous. There’s many ways to run your business again just trying to help is all, it’s your truck not telling you how to run it.
Just found your channel, just a friendly piece of advice here, I’ve been licensed since the mid 90’s I say that just so you understand I am trying to help you. I would not buy a reefer, I pulled reefer for most of my career and started pulling dry van last year.
The hours are horrible and the drama with shippers and revivers are insane. I would recommend buying a dry van hands down, if you run the numbers it’s not with the added drama we all have to deal with in our industry.
It might be too late 😬
It’s all good,
Just save your money, work as hard as you possibly can, be smart and this business is all about the sacrifice. Those who are willing to make the sacrifice will succeed.
@@Robert-bt8cp If I could have found a decent dry van I would have gone that route but there are so few good trailers available right now.
@@Velox18 I understand, you’re right. Just keep an eye on your numbers and remember having a reefer is another ton of responsibility and expense. If you ever have any questions....feel free to reach out to me.
How far away is the chicken koop from where you are? If it's a little bit of a ride there's a good chance ( CHANCE) you will burn 20lbs of fuel ( just under 3gallons) . But I get it I hate having to take chances like that myself but have pulled it off a few times. Just gotta do the math.
Put u some mud flaps.wieghts on the bottom of flaps ,get 2 bungie straps and connect to the weights when u drop the bags ,will save u on mud flaps
Yeah I've seen guys do that... I honestly thought mine wouldn't drag but I thought wrong!
Lol I figured u did ,u been trucking long enough
@@ezekielnolanjr.3797 Yeah but I have a ton to learn about taking care of beautiful truck like this one. I'm taking notes daily on stuff I want and stuff I didn't ever notice that guys do to take care of their rigs.
It would be nice if you would give us more details like exact weight , price per mile on these loads
You might have been able to do a sleeper split instead of PC.
BTW washing the truck is not allowed for PC. Js
That's good to know about the truck wash pc. I was thinking about doing a split but my ELD either doesn't recognize them or I'm doing them wrong, lol.
Seen you on the grapevine yesterday I tried to do a shoutout on the CB lol I don’t think you heard me
Man... sometimes I have to turn it down because I'm on the phone and guys are squawking about nothing and then I forget to turn it back up. My bad.
The sheriffs on the grapevine have a drug task force. That 4 runner was probably making a run for it.
Hey bro,
Do you have an apu? You are allowed an allowance on the weight if you do?
No I don't. I have a feeling I'll wish I had one pretty soon.
@@Velox18 got ya.
You can get off on magic mountain and go around the scale
Yeah, I've seen a couple guys hop off right there. I figured that's what they were doing.
@@Velox18 don’t do it there’s lotta CHP on Newhall Ranch Road. Even the sheriffs in the area will get you just take that extra time to scale all had a cat scale
Damm feel bad for you cause you hustle. I do stepdeck it took me a about a year to get loads with no hassle.
It'll get better... just getting my feet wet.
10.4 Always tough at The beginning it'll smooth out keep taking Care of Business
Dixon CA TEC equipment. sales looks like they have trailers for Sale check Truckpaper.com ??
@@jesusquezadajr3417 TEC always advertises trailers they don't actually have anymore but I'm gonna call on those reefers they have for sure.
The openning scene Looks like a good place for a microwave!! Sad. Thanks for calling out other drivers!!
I had dispatch tell me one time to just "shit-hook" my blown out tire that I had replaced at a shop along HWY99!!!! Soooo bad!! What a jackwad. Needless to say, I tossed it on his front lawn when I got back in town. And then I parked the truck under an overpass miles away and....THEN I SHIT-HOOKED THE KEYS. So I did know what shit-hook meant. (sorry for the bad language Gus!! My bad1)

U can run la to az less miles than coming to northern Cali and still 1500.and yea I donor I couldn’t pull amazon.those idiots. Get with truck stop and to the load out trailers just for one 10 days.
10 day load out would be a good deal.
You can PC while empty no problem
Just drink 20lbs of that beer
I'm not really a beer guy. I'm more of a jack and coke guy... if I drink at all.
Dude....just sneek across the borders dude!!!! Give it a shot!
Good luck with fudging your logs when that new entrant audit comes 😬
Haha, they only ask for 2 weeks. I'll be straight when they come calling. 😁
Maybe I should get my own authority 😁
Hey how did u customize that truck, I’m interested in buying the same one it. Please help!
I did a whole video explaining my design. I think it's virtual 389 design... something like that.
u need get on that amazon load board you would got home alot faster than all bs u had deal with that day
I was on it bro.... there was nothing good. I saw one load get to $800 bucks and then it got scooped up. As soon as it hit $2/mile.
Not bad buddy
Not bad at all! I can live on that.
Where u live at up north?yea load em up and pull that thang up the grape.#floatem
Turdlock
You should have miles right in a nasty letter to Uber saying that my dad missed my game
Thanks for your youtube. I just got DOT# and will have authority 1 week later. I reserved a 2006 Wabash 53 ft trailer at $15,000 to purchase. What do you think of this trailer if the condition is ok? Is it OK or too old to get load? Please let me know.
I've seen a couple brokerages and shippers that want 10 years or newer trailers but to be honest I think if it's in good condition you could probably haul most of the loads you'd want to.
@@Velox18 Thanks man. Nowadays, the trailer price is crazy. What do you think $15,000 for 2006 Wabash?
@@bcool9825 I don't really know... I just know there's not many air ride, plated, newer than 10 years trailers out there. So if you can get 2 out of 3 it's probably a good deal.
@@Velox18 Thanks. Subscribed
How much was that service call? Did you get that repair guy number?
I didnt... it was through Ryder since Uber rents the trailer from them.
keep on grinding! f them brokers get money!
Been grindin' all my life, sacrifice, hustle pay the price... lol
Aye bro did you finance your truck?
Yes... Paccar Financial through the Peterbilt Dealership
Most brokers are real nice people.. just remember, if they can save 5 bucks on a load, they'd take it away from their own mother to save that 5 dollars.😋
405 at 5:30 ugh!!😳 😭
Sorry you missed the ball game..😐all in all 2.75 not to bad 💰 and your truck pulled the grapevine beautifully..
El Hueso did great up the hill! And yeah the rate was fine... I just wanted my waiting on Thursday to pay off... and it didn't. Lol.
Your $2.75 looks to be $2.10 after your mpg's good luck on your next load
But my truck gets me the girls, lol.
Pimpin bearded dragons lol
@@bigserg13sr Wait... did that make it one of my vids? I thought I edited it out hahahaha
10-4
@@Velox18 oh yeah you did. Bearded dragon was the word of the day for me!
Anheuser Busch will always try to load you to 80,000, no matter what weight from Broker says.
I found that out! Haha, I didn't want the heavy load it was just a last resort. It was better than getting stuck down in LA.
At leastvyou have a trailer for Monday, maybe you can do better going down. You definitely should do better once you get a trailer! I'm in process of ordering my new truck. Have had my authority for 3 years and do a little better each yaer

Be safe
Don't feel bad about being over weight that's why you get weighed because there's no way of knowing people over load you and that's just how it is you got it fixed and that's all that matters it has nothing to do with being new
Yeah, I just thought that maybe I shouldn't have booked the 45k load if I was too heavy for it... but then I realized the problem wasn't me but that they tried to make it a 47k load, lol.
@@Velox18 At least you caught it man
You need to try Amazon
I was monitoring the relay load board for 24 hours... the loads were getting scooped up at really low rates.
How much fuel did you have?
Alot. If I knew I was going to get that heavy of a load I wouldn't have filled up in Castaic on my way down there.
20 pounds not much maybe make sure you have only half of tank of fuel good luck you’ll get it
Yep... I was almost full on the fuel and DEF... But then again I fueled up on Wednesday and I had no plans of hauling something that heavy, lol
They wouldn’t let you leave being 20 lbs over?
Nope. I told him to let me idle on the scale for a couple minutes and I'll burn enough fuel to get under 80, lol
Thanks for replying to my reply I’m a timber hauler from Alabama I deal with the weight issues everyday my onboard scales are great
@@wesleyboyd1810 Once I get a trailer I'll be able to dial it in I think.
Wow you should get a bird
Lol, I don't know what this means.
If you are going to be running California only why run elog use Paper logs
I'm an interstate carrier so that I can go out of CA when I want to but I want to stay in CA as much as possible. Also, supposedly even intrastate carriers were supposed to be on ELDs by 2021.
I am not sure yet but mostly everyone I know who is only running California use Paper Logs and haven’t heard of anything for elog yet for intrastate.
@@xDGKRivas22x yeah, I have a friend who runs intrastate and he said he got pulled in for a paper check and they didn't say anything about it.
That stinks. Can't you work it out with the broker/company? The extra weight and wasted time should be compensated. Stay safe out there!
