I have the pleasure of owning a 2014 Soul+. Just turned 50,000 miles and completely trouble free,. It's had three cross country trips (Arizona to New Jersey. about 7000 miles round trip)A great long trip Car. I'm a senior citizen and this is my 49th car, I have had them all and my Soul+ is without a doubt been the best.
Sarah, I think you have the best car reviews out there. I love the quarkiness and originality you bring to them. Thank you for letting yourself be you in your videos!
First off, I love that at 5:30 you look in the rearview mirror and even take a glance at the sideview mirror, even though you’re in the middle of no where. Simple things like that just prove to me you’ve BEEN invested in cars, are loyal to them, and respect the road. We ladies that love cars are out here, but you are truly a rare gem. I’ve yet to watch a vehicle review that kept my attention, or made me want to rewind and rewatch (to learn, to laugh too!). You absolutely do that and I’m sold on upgrading my Kia Soul 2016 ! trim. Super fun to watch, I wish you a long and fun journey in the auto industry, wherever you put yourself!
How could anyone thumbs down one of your reviews? I love that you Brake hard, and talk about the actual driving experience rather then a cookie cutter review. It’s forgot to say also I was in the AF 57th AGS Falcon 92-97.
I just bought this car. It ride smother than the years before. Very comfortable and a great take off. It has a crazy amount of safety uses a valuable. I really like the hard to see spot safety it will send and alarm then car is hidden. The speaker is awesome and clear making the blue tooth phone calls ready clear. Maps and reverse camera I love. Also there is a auto spot to prevent accident and crossing over the lines which you can turn off if you want. Still have the huge truck made even better. Like I just said I bought this car last night and I truly very happy with it. I traded in my 2010 which has been truly reliable and was always happy with it. Heated seats and steering wheel for your cold winter hands. Both front seat have their own temperature setting.
I loved my old 2010 Soul.. It did bounce over the bumps on the back roads but it was predictable and reliable with a lotta fun when you shifted down and floored it around a corner.. And, one of the best bluetooth connections to my phone. It read my address book and I didn't have to program anything into the car. Nice touch. i miss the zippy fun. The 2020 looks a lot nicer, though.
So glad you reviewed this vehicle. I'm gonna be picking up a 2022 identical to the one you reviewed in appearance and I couldn't be more excited to give it the beans!
I have new 2020 Soul. It isn’t tricked out like this one, but I love it. I had a fully loaded 5-door Forte SE fully loaded tricked out car before, and this is definitely a step up with handling and fuel economy. Very spacious and the tech is great! You can’t beat the warranty or the price.
You are close, My Kia Soul Base is named Herbert the Hamster. I have the 1.6 130 hp as it came with a 6sp manual. I think that they are very nice looking shoe box hatches. I have more fun rowing the gear box. Not fast, not quick, it is a Soul Man. 20,000 miles, not one rattle in the entire car. They are fun. Great review Sarah, You Got Style, Lady -- if you can make a Hamster Review this much fun, you can do anything.
Like your science reviews so much. Never thought the Kia Soul is the offspring of a Camaro dating a hamster 🐹😂😂. My neighbors wife got a sticker on her 2019 Soul reading „I love my toaster“. Sarah I love ❤️ your reviews.
I really love your quirky style. Everyone else is either serious or overly hyped. Your reviews are a lot of fun. Keep plugging away. And sell a shirt about beans.
Since its debut in 2009, the Kia Soul has been winning consumers' hearts with its combination of usability, youthfulness, and character. Although it arrived late to the boxy hatchback segment, the Soul became one of Kia's best-selling models and outlasted the Honda Element, Scion xB, and Nissan Cube. With its original competitors gone, the 2020 Kia Soul straddles the compact car and subcompact crossover segments with tidy dimensions and a roomy interior.
I’ve recently bought a 2017 Kia Soul, and your right it is fun to drive , although you didn’t point out the controls on the steering wheel or that you can put the headlights on automatic, turn on at dusk or turn off at sunrise
Love this car Finally! Because I’ve always hated them (box look). But this 2020 Gline turbo has the look!! The interior is finally upscale just enough. Harmon Kardon with a light Show...excellent. Guess what, I’m 55 years old and drive big luxury brand cars. So I would say it’s a Huge Hit!! Excellent car reviews...
I drive a 2022 Soul, and was anticipating your discovering its surprising inspired handling ---all things considered. Consumer Reports does an obstacle course score (higher speed = higher score) and the Soul topped its class. Fun is when you do a cone test, hard steer left and right sequentially: lil' toaster rocks! I have an S, which has 16in wheels, I switched to Yokohamas, interior noise is low, in the mid-50 db I think.
Another great review, Sarah. It looks like Kia really stepped up their game on this car. I think it looks great; from all angles. Only YOU would use a burrito as a measuring device and hamster pellets as a measure of performance. Keep up the great work. Love your channel.
That visor bulb is intentionally a warmer color. Skin tones look much better in warmer light, so they used it above the mirror. The rest of them were left a more traditional LED tone, which draw attention and make it look more upscale. The folks at Hyunai/Kia are really nailing the details now. Love your vids Sarah, thanks for the variety of content!
LED phosphor packages come in multiple temperatures, so not selecting a LED visor bulb in the 2700-3000K range with a CRI above 90 is simply for cost savings. They figure the visor light isn't used often enough to justify cost. They're probably still using the 2721 or similar incandescent bulbs for switch backlighting behind the panels because pennies do add up.
I once asked a roadside assistance customer, "what color is your Soul?" I immediately thought, "please don't be black!" It wasn't. On the Kia, I'm not surprised to like a Kia since they've made such great strides recently (Stinger GT, Telluride). I am surprised that I'm starting to like the Soul model. Great video as always.
Interesting. When I got the 2016 Soul Exclaim, my wife kept saying it was ugly. After a year I had traded it for a 2017 Forester 2.0XT, and now she misses it, saying it was the perfect seating height and how comfortable and practical it was.
First time finding your videos and you are extremely entertaining and knowledgeable. Would have liked to have seen you pan the interior to get the full view. You have to be the cutest and most likeable reviewer. Great video. Had to sub!
Sarah, you are damn good at these car reviews. From the filming, editing and your presentation, you make a very informative and entertaining video. Love 'em !
I like the Soul, with a turbo, even better. Enjoy your reviews immensely, quirky, fun and informative! Your style is like no other, keep it going. BTW, you are beautiful.
It’s really wonderful car. I just bought my daughter a 2018 Soul+, and was surprised how well it drives. Legroom like you said is great. I have a 2016 GLA, this turbo Soul you tested is pretty close to the HP of the GLA.
Am glad you did this review. I often wondered about a turbo powered car like this. Thx. Ok, you look awesome & are so funny. I really enjoy the work you do on this channel. Keep up the great work.
TOASTER MAFIA Had the 2nd gen Xb. Meh. Had the HHR. Double meh. This Storm Trooper helmet with wheels, though, is getting test-driven this weekend. Thanks Sarah! BTW, BEST Braking Tests in the Industry!
Love the sass, your smirk, the coverage, and the editing. The goofiness is endearing! Still don't understand your ratings, though. 1 1/2 beans for a car you really, really like? Is it based ONLY on your gut when you hit the gas? What does it take for a five bean rating, a Huracan? Anyway, I subbed. How 'bout a friendly wink next time?
I don't absolutely love the front end. Looks a bit too Mopar or new Camaro. I don't hate it though and I like the styling overall. As for the sun visor light, they may have gone with a conventional and more yellow bulb because it's kinder to a person's complexion and hide more flaws. Seems like a fun car. I think the Soul has been a bit underrated by the public in general. Would be crazy if they did make an AWD hotter version.
Thank you. Your videos calm my soul my heart was hurting from life's stress and I realize I smile through your whole review just waiting for your comedy. Therapeutic. It's half car half spaceship hence it levitating in the back.
I like the redesign, it's more of an evolution. You can tell what it is but it has been changed. It's the only 'box's car/cuv still available. Consumers obviously still like it, it's the best selling vehicle Kia makes. I also like that you can get the GT line without the turbo if you can't afford or dont want to pay 29k. Same styling just standard powertrain.
I live in the Seattle/Tacoma metro area. Around the Puget Sound the broad demographic appeal of the Soul is striking. I see twenty-something Seattle hipsters, young couples with a kid or two, and senior citizens driving them. My local KIA dealer says, "They sell themselves." It's not surprising to see KIA expand the line in the 2020 model year. Sarah's correct that the GTLine version doesn't really fit in the "hot hatch" category. And despite KIA's marketing effort to classify at least one version of the Soul as a crossover, it's not really that either. What it is, though, is a remarkably balanced, highly versatile vehicle with remarkably wide appeal. Total cargo space is 62.1 cubic ft. That's more than a Mazda CX-5, a vehicle that's more than a foot longer than the Soul (!). And because of its boxy shape full size human beings, even those as tall as Sarah, can sit comfortably in the back seat. As for performance, Motor Trend reports a 0-60 time of 6.5 seconds in the GT-Line turbo Soul. That puts it near the top of so-called "sub-compact SUV" mainstream category, otherwise known as hatchbacks on stilts. Of course, there will be complaints that KIA didn't add AWD to the new generation of the Soul. But in a small, light vehicle with engine weight over the drive wheels a FWD vehicle with a good set of winter tires will accomplish everything an AWD vehicle can over 90% of the time. And KIA says when they asked potential Soul owners if AWD was a priority it ranked far behind fuel efficiency and interior space. In fact, about 25% of current owners thought their Souls already had AWD! I sometimes wonder what Honda and Nissan must think of the Soul after they discontinued the Element and the Cube, its only true competitors. No doubt they wonder what it is about rodents that make them such great salesman. Or perhaps they should have stayed with their vehicles a while longer.
Great review! Funny how how mentioned the road noise thing. I was thinking that just before you said it. I test drove one a few years ago and it was quite noticeable. Hope you didn't get stung.
Love how your review covers the gearhead stuff...but definitely focuses on STYLING, too. ...I like the angry hamsters. Souls are young, fun cars crammed with tech. This car uses the visual vocabulary of Kia SUVs now. Makes the look more upscale. ...Yes, the car NEEDS LIGHT BAR BETWEEN the HEADLIGHTS.
I'm really digging all the cool stuff that Kia and Hyundai are putting out. They seem to have hit the fun and affordable mix that I'm looking for. I have to look at them because Mitsubishi is out of the cool, affordable and fun car business.
Best thing that ever happened to Kia was when Hyundai bought into it. The quality went up and there is a lot of shared technology. The Soul would make a good daily driver for younger people. Old guy like me would find the styling "unusual".
The reason they put tungsten bulbs above the mirror is because they give off a warm light. LED bulbs put out a hideous blue light that makes you look dead. I have always liked Soul's. If I were to go insane and buy a new car, a Soul would be on the short list. Enjoy you car reviews as always!!
I love these new Souls. I wish the seats went lower though, between having a long torso and preferring a sportier seating position, I think the GT-Line models could use lower front seats.
G'day, Sarah! Wow! "So crowded it may be in violation of fire code, but the Soul line represents some offbeat fun and a good value." Terrific job, reviewing the new 2020 Kia Soul GT-Line Turbo. By the way, great pun! (if you didn't know) I use to sell palm trees, but people thought it was 'a shady deal'. Lol! 🤣 Thank you very much! Cheers! ✌🏼❤️
You like the styling. It gets really good gas mileage. Brakes really well. It’s well equipped with safety features. It handles well for what it is so why the bean score? When you give the bean score can you tell us why you gave it that score in your summary? Also, THANKS for mentioning the torque steer. The majority of vehicles most regular people drive are FWD. The reviewers NEVER mention the amount of torque steer. Torque steer can be very disconcerting. It can also be very dangerous if you’re trying to accelerate and steer yourself out of an emergency situation. I really like this vehicle and thought about getting it for my daughter. The value in what you get for what you pay is really impressive. I probably won’t buy it though because it is FWD. If I could get this in AWD that would be ideal.
Another great review- your views are so fun The fun you have doing them really comes across and yes I thought the car looked really good don’t know if it was the color or the angles look nice and as soon as you said Bert I saw it immediately looks just like Bert of Bert and Ernie 😎
As soon as my 2014 soul exclaim hit 70,000 miles it decided to have a parasitic drain. It’s still currently in the shop after 2 battery changes and an alternator change as well no one can find where the drain is. And yes I know 70,000 is kind of a lot but living in the middle of nowhere you have to take road trips everywhere. I wanna trade mine in so bad for the turbo but with the problems I’ve been having I’ve been losing faith in the souls but this video has helped a bit in still wanting a turbo .😔 and it’s the only box car left so I guess I’m stuck with it lol
8:55 Not only do I wish it had a light across the front, but a read light within it going back and forth like the Cylon centurions on Battlestar Galactica. The front looks sort of like a cute one of those anyway.
For the price point a lot of pluses. Nice for a couple and their occasional friends to be in the car. The hp and torque nice balance, the DCT with paddles is a nice touch. Looks like a good performing affordable car. And of course a matching color top to the color of the car is a must have! You looked very stealthy in this video.
I have the 2016 Exclaim !. Would really like this car. But as a 6 ft male I would probably upsize to a Toyota SUV or pick up. Thanks for the fun video.
Sarah @ 9:40 "Do you think it's cute or do you think it's hideous?" Me replying to her question: "I think YOU are CUTE!!!!"😍😍😍 Lol GORGEOUS as always, Sarah and great video! Very informative! I actually dig the adjustable ambient interior lights! 🦁
Great review Sarah! Kia really have been killing it in recent years! Keep up the great work as always Sarah!!! (Kia Cerato GT next please - or if you can get one to review! Hehe)
Nice refresh, inside and out without going OTT, they kept the cars soul intact (yes pun intended). Full width daytime lights, now that's an idea for the car. Watch out for those wasps, did some forestry work in my time, dropped tree, hit group of them, they got angry lost count of stings.
This Kia looks crazy! I hate cars that look dull. And it looks better than the previous gen That being said I would never want to be seen in one just like I was embarrassed when my taxi ride was a prius! (thankfully I have my own car now)
@@Yondaily lol i'd have to be extremely drunk to buy/lease a Soul.😂 yeah the Honda HRV looks so sleek! (tempted to test drive it just for fun) right now my dd is a hand me down 2004 Highlander Limited (V6 4wd model) and I expect it to last a few more years and at least go over 200k before its reached the end of its useful life. Ironically this "grocery getter" is fun to drive (not as fun as my dad's old G30 BMW but pretty dang fun)😂

I wholeheartedly agree!
It's great how natural you are during your videos! Don't change.

I love Kia and the cars they build. Imagine a soul with AWD? I guarantee they would sell like crazy!
Great video as always Sarah! My wife and I rented one in Washington and drove it to British Columbia and just loved it. Way fun to drive.
I love the light up Harmon kardon system
I just bought one and added a "Yeah, its got a Hami" decal.....So much fun!
So glad you reviewed this vehicle. I'm gonna be picking up a 2022 identical to the one you reviewed in appearance and I couldn't be more excited to give it the beans!
“I could stick a whole burrito between my knees” just let that sink in. Love ur videos btw
Adrian 🤦♂️😂🤣😭
The Kia Soul is really cool. I’m 55 and I like it.

"Pissed off hamster series" 🤣🤣
Like your science reviews so much. Never thought the Kia Soul is the offspring of a Camaro dating a hamster 🐹😂😂. My neighbors wife got a sticker on her 2019 Soul reading „I love my toaster“.
Sarah I love ❤️ your reviews.
Thanks for the tip! Just ordered the decal for my 2020 soul.
I really like my 2014 Kia Soul. Hoping to get the 2020! Nice review. Thx!

Great review, you have an awesome smile when you are having fun. Your videos never disappoint; Information, humor, honest feelings, and beauty.
Smart, educated and gorgeous and what's not to like about a women who knows her cars. I'm in love!
I love KIA and this one as odd looking as it is still very nice. Good review, Love the originality of the presentation. Great job.
The reason that there is no led at mirrors is that normal bulb gives more natural light and that is better when you fix/check your face.
My new favorite channel!
I once asked a roadside assistance customer, "what color is your Soul?" I immediately thought, "please don't be black!" It wasn't. This is a great video! I really like how you write these cars and talk about the features. Very unique and very useful.

I just love your car reviews lots of information and great jokes
I have a 2015 Soul and love it. Thinking of trading in for a 2020. Love the review!
I kinda like it even though it looks like a clump of plastecine , ive driven one and I truly enjoyed the the ride , sarah your the best
As always great review. Just remember you are not weird you are quirky and that is so cool! Lookin' forward to the next one.
Yeah, what does it take to get 5 beans? What vehicles has she given 5 beans? 4 even.
Brian Howell 5 beans would likely be something in the realm of a Rimac or the new Tesla Roadster.
@@SarahnTuned Ahhh, so you dream of riding mythical creatures? Hmmm...

The first Mercury Sable had a light bar across the front. I was always surprised that the Feds allowed it, but the light was muted.
Got stung by a wasp at work today in a damn crawlspace.. Hit my head on a floor joist after the fact what a day it's been
You make that car more awesome! It is an overgrown hot hatch but not too big!
From now on, I'll use the burrito measuring scale. On point. 😂😂😂😂😂 Great video!
I laughed when I heard that too haha
Always love your review never boring like the burrito measurement nice outfit .
Another great review- your views are so fun The fun you have doing them really comes across and yes I thought the car looked really good don’t know if it was the color or the angles look nice and as soon as you said Bert I saw it immediately looks just like Bert of Bert and Ernie 😎
Gosh ! Whatever is that? Someone has been copying Citroen there ,don't worry, no one will steal it🙄 Your hair makes a fantastic g-meter by the way 😄
As soon as my 2014 soul exclaim hit 70,000 miles it decided to have a parasitic drain.
Awsome review Sarah, the exterior of the Soul reminds me of the Toyota Rukus, wifes daily.
Glasses, you MUST wear your glasses for Garage Science, please!!?? 😊
oh no
Oh yes!
Chris Locke all you’ll see is the garage lights reflecting off the lenses.
If it got lots of head room and a windscreen angle that keeps most of the sun off the dash, it has more than most modern cars.
You make the car look fun to drive. I'd like to see a review of Mr. Dos when you're finished.
I have the 2016 Exclaim !. Would really like this car. But as a 6 ft male I would probably upsize to a Toyota SUV or pick up. Thanks for the fun video.
BURRITO FOR SCALE. A standard Sarah approved unit of measure.
Excellent review. Lots of details. Thank you so much.
I see these cool Hyundais and Kias with their turbos and DCT transmissions and all I can think of is GET IT TOGETHER SUBARU
Thank you Sarah, keep being you!
Soooo funny! I was smiling the whole way through! (As usual) I do miss the glasses on Garage Science Sarah. 😀
Great review. I have a 2016 Soul and I really like it. 2020 Turbo may just be on my list. Thanks!
Hi Sarah - keep up your nice reviews - they´re really great and relaxing to watch!!!
I still prefer the looks of the 2018 Soul exclaim 😁 but the new tech interior of the 2020 is sweet.
I’ve loved the soul since it came out! Never owned one, but LOVE renting them. Thinking about the electric version for a daily in the future!!
Great review Sarah! Kia really have been killing it in recent years! Keep up the great work as always Sarah!!! (Kia Cerato GT next please - or if you can get one to review! Hehe)
I think the stinger is gonna be an aftermarket parts dream car. wont be long befor the come out with impressive power adders and mods
Your really good at this Sarah.
Nice refresh, inside and out without going OTT, they kept the cars soul intact (yes pun intended). Full width daytime lights, now that's an idea for the car.
Watch out for those wasps, did some forestry work in my time, dropped tree, hit group of them, they got angry lost count of stings.
Great Review💪 cute car this Soul should have the Veloster “N” power train and the headlight one bar from the Nissan IMs concept.
This Kia looks crazy! I hate cars that look dull. And it looks better than the previous gen
That being said I would never want to be seen in one just like I was embarrassed when my taxi ride was a prius! (thankfully I have my own car now)
@@Yondaily lol i'd have to be extremely drunk to buy/lease a Soul.😂
yeah the Honda HRV looks so sleek!
Nice review and love your humor
