newjeans doesn't really rap. sometimes they do a bit of talk-singing like they did in this, but their songs are generally soft and light and they have a very signature sound. it's my favorite music style so i'm a bit biased, but ditto and OMG are probably my favorite newjeans songs. hype boy and super shy are also extremely popular

NewJeans has been the hot new thing for almost 2 years now. Deliberately retro and chill, though one of their hits was an anthem for a gaming tournament. Very big social media footprint.
NewJeans.. a young Kpop GG debut in 2022 but explode recently winning multipe awards last year. There were recently awarded Group of the year by Billboard Women in Music 2024 (btw u can react to their performance video uploaded by Billboard themselves). They are now a household name for 4th Gen Group....super popular group. Song recommend to react

Yay NewJeans! These girls came out around the same time as XG. Their sound and concepts goes deep but most of their songs are repetitive but addicting. Super Shy can get stuck in your head. Ditto, OMG and Cool with You haunts me, Cookie caused some controversy due to the age of the members. Bubble Gum has this 70's vibe to me for some reason. Their fanbase are called Bunnies btw.

the girl who you heard talk singing is Minji and she started rapping before she joined NewJeans. Sometimes they’ll do talk singing but that’s the extent of their rapping (for now). NewJeans is unique in that they don’t have official places in the group so no one is “Lead Singer” or “Lead Dancer” and that applies to rapping, as well.
Sidenote: despite the fact that they don’t have official titles, Minji is still known as NewJeans’ leader as decided by the fans because she’s the oldest and she takes care of her members very well.
The core of Newjeans music is mostly RnB, Drum and Bass, UK garage with a very Y2K aesthetic. This song is different from their usual since they added the summer-ish feel to their already established sound.
Also to add as what people in the comments have already stated, they are the most famous kpop girl group today (Maybe a step or two below Blackpink still but they are almost there in a short span of 1 and a half year) hence being labelled as absolute sensations
NewJeans is trained in rap, singing, and dancing but so far they have been vocal-focused just a few talk rapping here and there.
Their debut was a huge literal summer hit, they dropped ‘Attention’ out of nowhere with their nostalgia vibes. They are the biggest girl group right now and 2nd after Blackpink. As Someone of a particular age, not their target audience, I Highly recommend listening to this group. I stumbled upon them over a year ago and Exactly as you stated. That 90s /Early 2000s Chill R&B Vibes that somehow are reminiscent of that Era 💯. I will recommend listening & watching their Discography/Music Videos in chronological release order. Their creative director/team have demonstrated how much hard work and attention to detail they put into every aspect of presentaing the group .
There is no leader in this group because their label believes them all to be Extremely well rounded artists/performers.
are you suggesting you are 'older' by not being their target audience.. if so i beg to differ i think they very much target us 'oldies' by giving us both nostalgic visuals and musical genres that remind us of the music we used to listen to when we were young... im 46 and they definitely hit me with their uk garage vibes which was my favourite type of music in my lates teens and early 20s when i used to go clubbing :P i dont listen to rnb much anymore but their rnb tracks like attention definetly give me 'swv' vibes of the mid 90s and also take me back to being a teen...
I'm 45 and never being a fan of k-pop until New Jeans. Indeed their music bring nostalgic to our teens moments back then ❤
I love their song sm! Their production, melodies and their soothing vocals are just perfect. They've entered the Hot 100 5 times now so yeah they're really big, the third kpop group with the most entries just behind BTS and BP. Their youngest, Hyein is actually 16 now, she just had her birthday days ago. Bubble Gum will be officially out on music streaming platforms on May 24 alongside the main single, "How Sweet." They make really catchy tunes, people love to compare them with other girlgroups which I think is so unnecessary 'cause these girls are just special, and they just feel so natural as their energy never feels forced to me. I saw some comments comparing them to XG, not just to this video but in other NJ reaction videos too and it's so lame cause they both have totally different concepts, music genre, vocal tone, choreo style and basically everything. Both are amazing in their own way!
Newjeans cosmetically have a 90s aesthetic.... their tunes are pretty much either 90s RNB/POP or late 90s Mainstream UK Garage with similiar less mainstream club styles like miami bass, jersey club and drum and bass fused in.... (their clubland sound is what drew me to them and are my fave tunes of theirs by far) i dunno if you are aware of uk garage because a lot of non brits i see react to newjeans don't know how to explain the sound :P they tap into a nostalgia vibe for a lot of 80s and 90s born people.. i would love to see you react to more.. personally as you've watched an rnb type of theirs with this i would recomend a clubbier song like Newjeans ' new jeans' (yes the song is called new jeans) or 'cool with you' (cool with you is a deep story video and theirs a side a and b and you need to watch both)... most newer fans get into them after hearing 'supershy' though... (uk garage with elements of drum and bass) so i would say any of those would be a good intro to their 'other' style of music. They are VERY unique in KPOP right now as the 90s rnb sound hasnt been prominent since some 15 years ago in kpops 2nd gen.... and uk garage although dabbled with in the odd kpop tune here and there has never been a groups whole album or concept.
It's like the summer version of Ditto.
Basically all the members of this group are vocalist they do rap but its just simple but mostly of their song it just singing and dance ❤
FYI: Don't watch their mv's out of sequence, start w debut & work up. there's a common storyline to several of them & it could get very confusing.
I’m so glad you discovered NewJeans.they debuted 22 July 2022, a few months after XG. The girls have rocked and dominated the industry since their surprise debut. Like XG, NewJeans’ discography is a non-skip; even have Coca-Cola songs with John Batiste and J.I.D. Songs and reality show content as well. All of the girls' personalities are genuine and amazing. This group is Billboard's "2023 Group of the Year” and the song “Ditto” is also “Song of the Year” winner for 2023. I’m a Bunnies/Tokki & ALPHAZ. Enjoy your journey down NewJeans' literal rabbit hole. 🐺🐰

Like a lot of these comments I found NewJeans after I discovered XG. I was looking for other Kpop style stuff and NewJeana spoke to me and later on Young Posse. They give me not quite the same feeling of nostalgia as XG, but more chill. Super Shy is my all time fave and you should definitely check that one out.

they're targeting general public doing everything opposite to what you'd expect in kpop. Mostly minimal, retro music. They're the most popular group in Korea

i stared listening to them just before I discovered XG, no hate but I got bored pretty quickly and lost interest, nice songs but it doesnt move the needle for me like XG does, just my take so if you like them, cool
