Trying to get my grandchildren to read The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings was more or less impossible but when Peter made the film's they watched the film's AND THEN READ THE BOOKS so YAHOO AND THANK YOU . I first read the books when I was a child and any time I need to feel completely lost and bury myself away I always go back to these books and find something new every time I read them.
Peter is so badass. He comes in in ragged clothes, doesn't give a fuck, hair all screwed up and shit. but people never will have any less respect for him because he is one of the best if not the best directors and producers of our time. We love you Peter.
This man deserves nothing but love, it breaks my heart that he was definitely referring to himself with the hobbit and the studios chewing, swallowing and spitting him out :/ BUT no one will ever be able to take the original trilogy from him whatever happens and those who know, know ❤
@You Can't Unwatch It he may said that and it might be true, but there could be many reasons for that as well.. This here is just sad ua-cam.com/video/20vA9U7J2qQ/v-deo.html
they were not perfect. He and his team did the best they could, they took a risk splitting the hobbit into 3 movies but they couldn't pull it off. that's just not something that can be done well, not even by the best of screenwriters. And The Hobbit lives in the shadow of the now legendary, classic LOTR films. The Hobbit trilogy are fun movies, ive seen them twice, i'll surely watch them again. He's an amazing director, one of the best contemporaries. If you haven't seen his films outside of the tolkein stuff I'd highly recommend his early work, and obviously Kong was a masterpiece. I have nothing but respect and admiration for Jackson. he is a rare and genuine and passionate soul. a modern visionary
Peter Jackson is one of the nicest guys ever and very talented has totally inspired me to do what he's doing. If someone can make lord of the rings then anything is possible. I would love to meet him
Amazing interview , thank you for this. And I agree with Peter on going ahead and do something you want to do ( in this case filmmaking) , schools only teach you more , you are the one who has to have the drive and passion for whatever you want to do.
I enjoyed the Hobbit as fun movies. The original trilogy had emotional connection and are masterpieces. As a New Zealander, Peter Jackson understands "Englishness"... USA directors and Hollywood don't understand "Englishness" The sad part for Peter Jackson and the Hobbit trilogy was that things were out of his control and the movies were more "Hollywood" and he had to little time to adjust them. His work is also brilliant with the Beatles documentary and "They shall not grow old"
@@kentl7228 Thank you. Same here. There was a special “spirit” about Rings but also about the Hobbit Im just so thankful Peter was in charge not Guillermo. From what ive seen of his design it was wacky and not in line with Rings at all I must confess to praying Hobbit would get made.

I did not go to film school and I made my own feature film Mystic Demon Killer inspired greatly by Peter Jackson films like Braindead. I have found myself now at film school mainly because it is now the only way I can continue my art post lockdowns. If you do want to go to film school then make sure you pick a film school that gets you too makes films and not just write about them. I am at Falmouth University and have just completed my foundation year and have made five short films as well as all the written work.
Interesting interview. Comment about not making the film for the fans makes sense. There is a hell of a lot of tail wagging of the dog around - GoT, Star Wars etc etc etc. It must drive directors mad.

Good interview. Small tidbit of advice to the interviewer: drink a glass of water before asking questions; avoid cotton mouth that way. Other than that, great interviewing style.
If he didn’t do the Hobbit the studio would bring in another director without the same passion for the project and would ruin it and i would rather have half-baked films than horrible films. Also I really like the hobbit trilogy
Interesting to hear Jackson propagate the myth of the human eye seeing "roughly 55 frames", anyone with a high refresh rate monitor will know that it's only above about 100 it gets harder to distinguish.

I am the reincarnation of J.R.R Tolkien, and I can say (almost) unequivocally, that TLOTR trilogy, are my favourite set of movies. Simon Tolkien doesn't know what the fuck, he's talking about. As for Adam, I will take counsel with him. He will look at them, anew, when he understands, a little more, of what they mean to me.
@@reek4062 Yes. He said, that they were made for, teenage boys. I was 18, when I saw them. They worked for me. And, will work for Christopher, when he is alive, again.
I'm sure he's aware of the flaws with the Hobbit trilogy, but at least he allows other people to have a creative input during filming. This is exactly what George Lucas didn't do with the Star Wars prequels, hence them being so awful.

Very true , I too go places all ragged and wild haired , I lack the respect though.
There is a long time to earn that for me though.

I don’t care what anyone says but his King Kong is the best version
Without a doubt.
A masterpiece.
it is, but its flawed and could be improved.
I honestly think the video game is the best version of kong. I wish the movie had more of the games style.
Agree
Peter Jackson is the best director in the world
Paulus Senesi I agree wholeheartedly
Such a shame he hasn’t directed a proper movie since 2014, I really hope he will return to directing and make his long promised Tintin 2

You can tell he hates the Hobbit films.

So was Jimmy Savile
This is a New Zealand knighthood
NZ is in the Commonwealth and it's from there royal family. Even if the ceremony was in NZ. He should have a letter from the queen etc

oh good! phew! thank god for harvey weinstein! phew!

I mean if we had it Harvey's way, we would have got a single LOTR Movie made by people who didn't give a fuck about it lol.
I mean he did save LOTR initially, at least financially
The ugliest orc was done as a likeness to Harvey Weinstein
dead alive...
Braindead
Same thing...
'flesh the hobbit out a little bit'. FFS it's dreadful. How the same team can make the greatest trilogy of all time and the worst is fascinating.

Have you seen Rings of Power??
He ruined the hobbit. the bufoon
Well he didnt and thats not an opinion thats fact
The movies were dumped on him and the deadline wasnt moved at all. The studio ruined The Hobbit, not Peter Jackson
