I go for spinning classes and recently i have started having tailbone pain. Thanks for the explanation about what could have caused it.

Awesome, I was going to purchase another seat, I’m glad I found your video! In a few days I will put your information to work! I kinda thought it was my body position and didn’t know how to fix that until your informative video.

How can I be sure it's tailbone pain and not lower back pain? Your tips were great and I will try them regardless...

Thanks for the question! Tailbone pain is very point specific to the tip of the coccyx, with no pain in the lower back, sacrum or hips, and direct pressure is acutely painful. However, true ‘lower back pain’ from the lumbar spine or SIJ can start at the lower back, above the sacrum or below, radiate into the buttock, sacrum, lateral hip, cause muscle spasms and guarding. More diffuse, vs very point specific.

Thanks for this video! I’ve tried four different saddles with no improvement to my tailbone pain.
I will lower my saddle on my next ride and watch my posture better.

I promise this long comment pertains to your very helpful video
Thank you for this video Kevin. I loved cycling, however, after 2 medial meniscus surgeries to my right knee, a very well known hospital here in NYC suggested a partial knee replacement.
Having opted out of a partial knee replacement, I put the bike away for a little over a year to see if it would heal somewhat, even though I’m aware the meniscus doesn’t generally heal on its own.
About 2 years ago, we purchased a famous brand stationary bike (which I love) and I found if I raised the seat as high I could possibly go & as far back as I could go, I minimized my knee pain.
Apparently from watching your video I have finally realized what has been causing this excruciating coccyx pain for the past year or so.
I have tried different saddles, etc…
    Thank you for your help

This is happening for me. I have long legs, so my seat is pretty high. I feel like if I lower it, I would sit even more upright. But maybe I'll try it and see how it works out. Thx for the video!

I had been struggling last April with a tailbone injury due to new E bike. I stopped riding it all through the summer. I went back to riding it in august and I’m in the same situation again, but this time it’s lasting longer.

Try lowering that saddle 5-6mm and retest - if you’re even a little high on the saddle it will drive your sitting bones/ tailbone into the saddle at bottom of pedal stroke- give er a try!

Thank you for this! I have a quick 5 hybrid that I absolutely love! I just bought a trainer for indoor riding as I live in Vegas. Very hot in the summer and a tad bit cold in the winter. I am having so much pain in my tailbone that I had to stop riding it. I have no problems riding outdoors. So strange to me. Unfortunately my handle bars are not adjustable. I have tried lowering the seat. Nothing has helped. I will watch my posture. Any other suggestions?

I have terrible coccyx pain while riding my e-bike with trying many different seats and need some help! I used to ride a road bike without any problems but now have an e-bike and love love love riding but it starts hurting badly at about mile 5. I want to ride daily and long distances. Any chance you could do a fitting or something for me for help. I live in Portland as well. I now am using a $250 seat and it has helped some but NiOT enough. Please any help would be fantastic!

Yo.... So I do sit upright on my Electra Townie... And I like the posture on the wrists and the arms but I see the trade 0ff. I'm in the process of shopping for new seats. I have 4 in my cart on prime. I should probably just buy all four and return three??? If one of those is it ??

    • @PedalPT
      @PedalPT  4 місяці тому

@@joeldwolf generally speaking, the more vertical / upright you’re riding, the wider the saddle - so something in the 150mm++ range would likely be ideal - and if handlebars are higher than the saddle, the nose can be pointed up a little more too. Hope this helps!

I'm experiencing tailbone pain after riding my new full suspension bike. I normally ride a hard tail, which leaves me scratching my head. I'm experiencing more pains with my full suspension than on my hard tail. Could it be that I'm riding the wrong bicycle? It feels great.
