    What do you prefer? Two spare wheels or one spare wheel and a storage box?

      One spare wheel so the box can carry outside cooking equipment and quick access toolkits.

    Extraordinary! Just so MARVELOUS. I wish Iveco and Motor Home World in Atlantis can build all these well thought - out units into their Discovery Extreme 4X4.
    However, all I do want in an off-roader that is compact, Discovery is just so expensive, when one only users a few times a year I own a Land Rover Discovery 3 with a custom-built trailer, and there is so much I have learnt from watching your progress.

      Overlandervanman I have a Iveco daily long wheel base that I’m trying to convert into a camper I’m hoping to go wild camping in it although it will not be that wild with it only being a 2 wheel drive , I have fitted a winch just incase I do get stuck because it’s been stuck on wet grass I have been looking for a bumper like yours for ages but they are all so expensive. So is yours from. Toyota Land Cruiser If so I will look to see if I can find a second one many thanks for your reply, here is the out side of my build so far , ua-cam.com/video/6CnWAZd8RwM/v-deo.html I’m in the Uk and it’s a night mare trying to get hold of on for my Iveco I have been looking for almost a year now I only have a 2 wheel drive which can get stuck on wet grass so I fitted a winch I’m also looking for a set of off road tyres which is also hard with it having odd size wheels and tyres size .

    Nice work I'm thinking of using a 12-volt water heater just like yours and turn it on just half an hour before we arrive at destination. Do you feel that this system works well or do you find that you need more? I want to do the same thing for the same purpose of having hot water at the right temperature from the first drop.

      I think it really works well. Mine 220v. Important part is to have enough battery power to be able to drive geyser through invertor. Uses 1,2 kw at startup then quickly goes down to 300w used it extensively on our last solo trip. See my solo trip video

    • @Overlandervanman
      @Overlandervanman  4 роки тому +1

      If I keep it at about 110km/h I get a consumption between 10 and 11l per 100km. If I drive between 120-130 km/ h it can go up to 13lper 100km depending if there is a headwind

      @@Overlandervanman Wow that is impressive. 100km/h is plenty fast enough for me and totally worth the fuel savings. Greetings from Mpumalanga. If I may ask....how much did this vehicle cost, and how much did you spend to convert it into the camper it is today? I absolutely love what you have done with this van. Hugs and stay safe.

    • @Overlandervanman
      @Overlandervanman  3 роки тому

      The Iveco panel vans can be found in good condition for less than R100 000. My conversion part itself was about 130k. The conversion is a lot of work and although i tried very hard to keep the cost down it still ads up pretty quickly because of all the specialised equipment like invertors, solar panels etc

    Hi - Love your van and how you think. How do you deal with condensation build up inside the van while stationary for extended periods? Does the rain fully shed off the roof on its own while its fully open with the screens on? Imagine you either close the roof or place a fly of some sort on the outside of the screens when the wind or rain pickup. Thanks

    • @Overlandervanman
      @Overlandervanman  4 роки тому +1

      Hi., must be honest that I have no condensation issue at all. It was really bad with my previous high top van I had. I think it must have something to do with all the layers for insulation as well as good airflow. I was very pleased to see that the fibreglass panels I use on the sides actually does not let the rain in. If it is a real storm I just close the top and is nice and comfy inside without the flapping of canvas driving you nuts

    Hi, can you tell me how many amps your alternator is delivering?
    Thanks

    • @Overlandervanman
      @Overlandervanman  4 роки тому +1

      The van has the normal Iveco alternator. Not sure re amps know it charges at 14,2 v. I fail to understand why people have these elaborate and massively expensive setups on their rigs. Got wire running from main battery to my 45 amp Projecta charge controller. It charges battery in minutes, That same controller is used for charge from solar panels. No switches or dials, all automatic. Had the 25 amp controller which worked fine, this one just faster. Upgrded to 400w solar and the 45amp controller cause ive got a power hungry electric geyser. Old setup fine if you only run fridges and odd microwave

    • @Overlandervanman
      @Overlandervanman  4 роки тому +1

      @@gepponet4963 I decided to use two 105 deep cycle batteries and a big 105 main battery. In my view the lithium batteries are just outrageously expensive -nearly ten times more. By the time these need replacemnet the lithium should be more affordable . One of the reasons I upgraded my solar is to keep my batteries above 70% so that they will last longer. Normal deep cycles working fine for now.I will post a video soon explaining my charging setup and why I went this route
