*Wow. That was absolutely fantastic! Kiwi is my favourite Melbourne Cup winning horse, due to the incredible win and his back story around chasing cows with Snowy on board. Loved this movie. Never even knew it existed until it popped up on my UA-cam feed today. Bloody outstanding!*
Because he worked stock Kiwi was able to change direction several times in the home straight without losing any momentum, his balance, his stamina and Pumper's ride - best race ever!
People will never appreciate how much horses 🐎 meant to smaller communities across Australia 🇦🇺 and New Zealand 🇳🇿 years ago and most of the time now for the million dollar elites!!!!🐎🐎🐎
Remember the race... from memory Jimmy Cassidy in the saddle. New Zealand is understated in the art of film making. I'm saying that because some of the finest films I have seen were made in NZ!
I remember jumping off the couch as a young fella cheering with my dad, both of us doing the shin dig stomp in our lounge, my mum sitting at the kitchen table with her cuppa tea.....a cool moment of Kiwi Pride and joy.....to the memory of the Luptons and the great surprise, the farm hack "Kiwi" Awesome! ❤
This was a good movie and I didn’t even know it was made till it popped up today. THE CUP is a very special race and it seems that the best story of the day usealy goes to the winner of the race each year. I have picked a lot of the winners over the years and have a great day every year. It has lost a lot of merit since going international.
I was sitting in class that day and I shouted out KIWI I don’t know why or how I knew but from that moment on I knew KIWI was going to win the cup I was 17 so I got my mum to put $100 on kiwi to win and KIWI was 100/1 .
This movie is incorrect. Kiwi was not scratched from the 1984 Melbourne Cup. He ran 4tth behind Black Knight. I can still remember the call of the race from Bill Collins. He called Kiwi finishing fast and he said, it'll be too late today.
The 1984 Melbourne Cup was marred by controversy a day before it started when the 1983 Melbourne Cup winner, Kiwi was scratched from the race by the veterinary stewards. This was despite Kiwi's trainer Snow Lupton and Jim Cassidy, the jockey who rode him to the prior year's sensational victory, protesting to his soundness

That is one of the best films I've watched in a long time.
The farm work is what gave him a good mind. He got to be a horse, the racing was icing on he cake for him. 😍😍
Fantastic story and mvie!!!
Kiwi brought a nation to believe anything is possible, I'll never forget the words 'and here comes Kiwi'. 30 seconds after and Kiwi is last.
I remember kiwi winning the Marlboune cup. That was all Waverly needed to get itself back on its feet. Wonderful horse
proud to be a Kiwi. love this movie. I remember watching the race on the TV, it was so great.
Great story.Luptons typical humble Kiwis. The nation’s backbone good hard working independent people.Kia kaha!😎
