I highly recommend this movie. I've watched many horse stories, but this one stands out. Great acting and a story of healing for Shannon the teenager, her mother and Max the old time horse trainer. The love of a horse, determination, patience, and a good team to train it can lead to a wonderful race at the last turn and the finish line in sight.

Scapegoating? I've seen something similar with my younger siblings. Our mom died young, our dad had trouble coping with life. I was the one who was supposed to make everything right for everyone. I suppose I also got blamed for everything that went wrong. When I started carving out space for myself, things slowly got worse. That said, I wasn't always good at communicating what was bugging me. At some point, I should have said nothing at all and quietly walked away. Instead, I guess I turned myself into the bad guy or maybe they just had no more use for me. Here's the thing. Before my mother died, she sometimes felt the same way. And she said to me:"when I am gone, they'll wish that I was still here" (and feel guilt/remorse). Except, they didn't. Live your life for yourself, not pining for someone who won't give you the time of day, as they say. Humans are often really cruel. Don't let that destroy you.

I highly recommend this movie. I've watched many horse stories, but this one stands out. Great acting and a story of healing for Shannon the teenager, her mother and Max the old time horse trainer. The love of a horse, determination, patience, and a good team to train it can lead to a wonderful race at the last turn and the finish line in sight.

Scapegoating? I've seen something similar with my younger siblings. Our mom died young, our dad had trouble coping with life. I was the one who was supposed to make everything right for everyone. I suppose I also got blamed for everything that went wrong. When I started carving out space for myself, things slowly got worse. That said, I wasn't always good at communicating what was bugging me. At some point, I should have said nothing at all and quietly walked away. Instead, I guess I turned myself into the bad guy or maybe they just had no more use for me.
Here's the thing. Before my mother died, she sometimes felt the same way. And she said to me:"when I am gone, they'll wish that I was still here" (and feel guilt/remorse). Except, they didn't.
Live your life for yourself, not pining for someone who won't give you the time of day, as they say.
Humans are often really cruel. Don't let that destroy you.
