    In 1989 changes were already occurring in South Africa. The white community was drifting more towards liberalism and the extreme right wing shrunk significantly, so much so that the majority of white people voted to end apartheid in 1992 by more than 68 percent. I can still remember the members of the AWB pressuring people to vote no. Respect to the All Blacks who did not go on the Rebel tour. Apartheid was a terrible system. I worked in a township and saw what a great evil it was. 1994 was wonderful. Black and white people were standing in the same lines waiting to vote. Thank you for this great doko. My respect to the All Bkacks, for the inspirational way they overcame significant struggles, united and built the greatest rugby team in the history of the game.

    This was a good movie and I didn’t even know it was made till it popped up today. THE CUP is a very special race and it seems that the best story of the day usealy goes to the winner of the race each year. I have picked a lot of the winners over the years and have a great day every year. It has lost a lot of merit since going international.

    I was sitting in class that day and I shouted out KIWI I don’t know why or how I knew but from that moment on I knew KIWI was going to win the cup I was 17 so I got my mum to put $100 on kiwi to win and KIWI was 100/1 .

    The first ever foreign black rugby player to come playing the Springboks in South Africa is French Roger Bourgarel in 1971. Born in Toulouse his family comes from the French West Indies. Danie Craven who was a good friend of Albert Ferrasse, president of the French Federation of Rugby had accepted the deal in spite of the apartheid, Ferrasse being opposed to the usual boycott. Bourgarel played winger the 2 tests scoring one try during the 1st won by the Boks 22-9. The 2nd test, famous for its huge brawl lasting 5 long minutes ended with a draw 8-8. Later in 1980, Serge Blanco had his first cap in Pretoria for one more crushing defeat in the apartheid country.

    The fact the NZRU failed to respect the baby Blacks outstanding achievement will for me go down in history as New Zealand rugby's worse mistake. Those players deserved respect and to be placed ahead of the Cavaliers!

      This is the thing that people do NOT realise - in theory the NZRFU had 2 teams playing at international level -you had a team full of NZ players who just happened to play for the All Blacks playing against the Springboks in South Africa and you had another team filled with NZ players playing against France as the Baby All Blacks! That is 2 NZ squads of 28 players that were being developed on the international scene to which the end result was the 1987 RWC!

    You can never satisfy everybody. You are grossly mistaken if you believe all South Africans supported apartheid, and even today when it’s erased from the law, it lives on in many whites and people of colour, yes reverse apartheid. Personally, my position is that South Africa’s greatest president of all time was Mandela. South Africans like every child don’t hate people of colour, they get taught by the worse this disgusting idea going back to all counties colonized, and it’s not dead yet, lives strongly around the world in many if those countries that opposed apartheid. Such a shame on those who breed the trait and have never owned up to it. And shame on those who still practice the conduct today for religious, skin colour and many other reasons.

    Government pressure and the fear of the results reflected in the public. Corporate gutlessness and self interests stopping or critising individuals to choose for themselves. Oh sorry I thought this was about experimental vaccinations, power and forcing the community to do as commanded.

    There is absolutely NO doubt àbout the skills and efforts the AB's have put into the game and giving respect where due.. They are the Springboks biggest and most respected foe...however..There will always be that one question...What if SA had been represented in '87 and '91.?

    • @thefobbie0034
      @thefobbie0034 6 днів тому

      I have looked at this argument and at the moment I cannot see how the Boks would have won in 1987 - here are my reasons: 1) The Boks beat the Cavaliers simply because of the difference of Botha, Gerber and Du Plessis 2) The Cavaliers had 65% possession rate on the Boks and still lost the series 3) That only 2 players in that Cavalier test team played ALL the games against the Boks, made the 1987 team - Whetton and Green 4) that 3 other players in that Cavalier test team that played 1 game against the Boks, made the 1987 team - Fox, MacDowell and Alan Whetton The 1987 All Black team was a completely different team from the Cavaliers 1986 team - this is the point! One of the most interesting aspects is how that Bok forward pack struggled against a old but great All Black forward pack - Knight, Reid, Ashworth, Haden, Shaw, Mexted and Hobbs - yet that 1987 AB forward pack was a new and younger forward pack who would go on to be the best forward pack in the world at that time over the next 3 years - MacDowell, Fitzpatrick, Drake, Whetton G, Pierce, Whetton A, M Jones and Shelford! The other aspect is the 1987 AB backline where there were key players who were NOT in SA with the Cavaliers - Kirk, Stanley, Kirwan and Gallagher! The key player here is Stanley who would have been matched up against Gerber - the best attacking centre vs the best defensive hitting centre! Also I don't think Botha would have much room to move with Michael Jones at 7 and this is where the Boks backline would have had some pressure problems put on them by the skillset, athleticism and speed of Michael Jones - the Wallabies had to design a game plan to nullify Jones because of the pressure he had that Wallaby backline under because of his speed! Here is the main thing which I do not think the Boks would have got away with in the 1987 RWC - every time the Cavaliers got into the Boks 22 the Boks straight away just killed the ball and the referee did NOTHING about! This had a massive impact on the Cavaliers ability to score from these situations when they had the Boks on the ropes and if the Cavaliers did take the 3 points the main thing is that it was NOT 6 points! For me it did really have an impact on the Cavaliers ability to score!
