Two little fun facts about the Stuka: the sirens in the wheels reportedly annoyed many pilots as they shell were going off when flying but only got louder when diving. And the little arm thing under the belly of the plane was to solve the problem of how to clear the bomb of the propeller so when the pilot drops the bomb that arm swings out and the bomb let’s go. And one of the decals (the one on the hump underneath the engine) seems to signify it belongs to the Waffen SS which were basically hitlers main men soldier group and this is evident as the two Z’s in the “WAZZER” are actually thunderbolts which is what the SS used as the two S’s on their collar patches and also “WAZZER” is actually “WASSER” the two S’s being replaced by the thunderbolts and the reason for it saying “WASSER” is because the hump underneath is actually water and “Wasser” is “Water” in German, and sorry if it’s difficult to understand what I’m saying I sometimes get side tracked when trying to type stuff and it makes my writing all wonky

The Stuka pilots also use the siren to determine during the dive their speed and according the sound of the siren their altitude to drop and stop the diving course, the stuka models used against enemy tanks for example doesn't have sirens, it becomes useless for staffing...

Even though these 1/18 planes are considered "toyish" by the scale model fraternity, they are easy to disassemble and scratchbuild every micro-detail to your hearts content.
I originally bought my first one (D-day U.S navy VCS-7 observation spitfire), to do just that. Then I found out how rare it was. It went straight back in the box. As they all have!
The real beauty of all these 1/18 planes though- is in the vision of the original model designer/ painter at 21st Century Toys. He was a real military aviation buff and talented scale modeller. This is why they all look so much more realistic than "just a toy", and why each paint scheme is actually historically correct.

Oxygen masks were normally superfluous for Stuka pilots as they operated their aircraft below 10,000 feet. The masks would be helpful when Stukas were transiting from one location to another at higher altitudes. Sometimes special missions might call for flying at higher altitudes. But typically for ground attack missions over the battlefield, the Stukas flew in low at just few thousand feet. Pilots needed to spot enemy ground targets readily, something not possible at 10,000 feet or higher.

Wasser, would have indicated this should have been Ju52/3mW or float plane version - something I guess the Chinese lost in translation while designing. The fuselage bomb ranged from 1,100 pounder to 550 pounder - it looks like kit has the 1,100 pound, bombs on wing 110 pound each. Stuka had an automatic pull out system as back up to crew blacking out due to G forces and an automatic bomb release to drop the bomb as the aircraft was pulling out. That's the blue brace on bomb, it dropped down and released bomb. They were easy targets but built throughout war because they were very effective. Some pilots had spinners taken off as AAA improved. Nice model, still wish they were in business . How in the world do you get these? 😀Look forward to rest of kits you have.

you have a pilot (goggles) and gunner. the rescue flares are around the gunner's ankle. the pilot should have them too. btw, the Junkers Ju-87 B stuka had only ONE siren, so that is an historical error ( they did not have two). this is a desert stuka from StG2 (stuka geschwader 2) (the 'diving crow' dive bomber wing) so it flew lots of missions over the medditerranean sea and mostly against the RAF. ..there should be swastikas on the rudder for historical accuracy. ammunition cannisters and radio set are in the gunner's compartment. the stuka carried a 500lb main bomb and four 250 lb bombs. wasser means water. oxygen masks were not needed below 10,000 feet. and below 10,00 feet? well, that's where the stuka lived. so why there are oxygen masks with the crew is beyond me...

This Stuka Ju-87B model was quite capable of destroying Soviet Red Army tanks with its small bombs. Stuka pilots reserved the main, large bomb for primary targets. Many Stuka Ju-87B pilots became quite proficient at destroying Russian tanks with the wing-mounted bombs. In fact, when the Ju-87G, 37mm cannon-armed Stuka made its initial appearance, the existing Stuka pilots viewed it as redundant because bombs usually destroyed Russian tanks. Even a strike near a tank could overturn it or damage the tracks and bogie wheels. Still, the immediate huge success of tank buster pilots like Hans Rudel quickly convinced everyone the 37mm cannon Stuka was a great anti-tank weapon.

I tried & tried to get the wings in. Even heated them trying to soften the plastic, still no success. Finally trimmed off the bottom wing tab and that worked as I was now able to insert the wings. I would be hesitant to buy another stuka version as they are expensive and I don't want to risk the chance of breaking it.

Too bad it wasn't the Stuka Ju-87G model, the tank-buster version made famous by tank-killer ace, Captain Hans Rudel. The Ju-87G tank-buster version was the most impressive. A large pod containing a 37mm cannon attached under each wing. A long barrel protruded ahead from each gun pod. Each 37mm semi-automatic cannon pod held only ten 37mm shells apiece. But in the hands of an experienced Stuka pilot, could destroy a number of Soviet Red Army T-34 tanks, striking the thin top, side, and rear armor. To help reduce overall weight, the wing-mounted, 7.92 x 57mm machine guns were removed or never installed in the G model. The G model retained the rear defensive gunner. The Ju-87G was deadly enough, but it needed to operate in an aerial combat environment where there was at least parity between the combatants. As the Soviets wrested aerial dominance from the Germans, the Ju-87G suffered higher losses and at some point disappeared from the Russian skies. It didn't matter by that point because the June 1944 Soviet Operation Bagration succeeded in expelling the Wehrmacht completely from Soviet territory by late September of that year. The Luftwaffe replaced the Ju-87 with an armored, ground-attack version of the Focke-Wulf 190, the A-8 version which mounted two, 30mm cannon in the wing roots. All the extra armor, however, reduced the FW-190A-8 top speed to about 360 mph. But this was not considered a problem for a ground attack aircraft.

I also collect/model HO scale model railroading so you can imagine what my hobby/gun room looks like, lol. And I reload ammunition so there’s all that expensive equipment and components. Thanks for sharing some of your collection with us in your videos, much appreciated. I do collectible toys/figures repair work for my friends collectible shop, he also has a few of those 1/18 scale aircraft and other pieces they made, if you need something special, let me know, I’ll gladly connect you with the owner. I’m a retired Army Infantryman so I have time to enjoy things now.

Ebay is probably the only place left to find one at an almost affordable price (or private sellers). Merit 1/18; (AV-8, FW190A, ME 262, F86, SBD Dauntless) can still sometimes be found new at around 200-300 USD, Flight Wings 1/18; (Mig 15, P51 Mustang, TBF Avenger) still available around 110 USD.
As for the rest- all unavailable for the past 15+ years...but they're all still out there... somewhere- and there's at least 35 different types...
