This makes me nostalgic for that traditional, old-timey Christmas celebration; where everyone pauses their normal lives, and gets together just to appreciate and celebrate one another. I like getting presents, but the true gift of Christmas is spending time with people you love
It is the only song of theirs I ever hear on the radio and always at Christmas. The drummer John is my stepfather and this song is often the only proof I have anyone ever remembers them...
My dad bought me the album when I was young. I stll love it but my favorite songs skip :-( I still dig it out and play it from time to time. A decade or more I finally found a CD of my album, however my two favorite songs weren't on it. Balads. I guess Snoopy Is more famous, but they did do other songs which many don't know about.
the only thing is, that no one believes in the one day we should put down our weapons and say thank you that we are here.there is no trust left so to you Zachary a very Merry Christmas and many ,many more hopefully
I remember when this first came out. No Christmas seems to be complete without reliving the precious memory of listening to this with my childhood friends.
I have pretty severe holiday depression, but listening to this song always gets me into the Christmas Spirit. What a simple, but accessible message it sends. Merry Christmas, my friends!
Merry Christmas my friend... I get sad at this time of year also...I have that sad disorder and I miss my family 🎄 But Snoopy and The Peanuts Family always cheers me up ✌️
@@jonijohnston1688 Bless you, friend, I'm glad the Peanuts Gang can be there for you at least. Hopefully you can find more cheer and hope in this darkest of seasons ❤
My mom would play this song a lot during Christmas it's one of my favorites I'm 58 now an still love hearing it lots of memories ! God Bless us all ! Merry Christmas to one and all ! Mom still plays it also she is 83 !
That's cool! 83 actually isn't super shocking when I think about it; Peanuts were HUGE throughout the 1950s and beyond when the first comic strip was run in 1950, so children from that era are theoretically in their mid to late 70s at least today...and that's just the grade school kids I'm talking about. I guess, my point is, time flies! I can't believe it's almost 2023, and it's been over 60 years since these lovable characters were conceived. Be Merry!
My Grandma had this 45 record at her house, when I was a kid in the 70's, and I listened to it over and over, and later I took it home, and I'm pretty sure I still have it! (Been a few years since I looked into my kiddie records, but I do still have many of them!)
My favorite Christmas song as an 11yr old kid having to stay in hospital from Nov.24 1974 - Jan.12 1975 (broken leg due to car accident had me in traction). It was the first time I ever was away from home and I was fiercely homesick.Luckily members of the Salvation Army came to visit the Children's ward of my hospital and gave me a stuffed rabbit that played Brahm's lullaby and sang Christmas carols outside my window.I have never forgotten them since then. God bless everyone and thank you for the memories.
My dad told me when he was stationed in Germany that he'd always go to the Salvation Army for coffee and donuts because the Red Cross always charged the service men.
I got this album back in the late 60s and it brings back so many happy memories. Much later when I had a radio show, on the Friday before Christmas, I played the whole second side. I love this song and every time I hear it on radio, I get something in my eye.
I have always believed this song either purposely or inadvertently references the 1914 Christmas truce during the first year of WWI. a event in which British and German troops for a short while laid down there arms and celebrated the holiday. this was short lived and not to be repeated.
I listened to this song as a little girl. It brings back memories of my best friend and I acting out the parts as we sang it over and over again. Also fun fact; it has a historical story behind the song.
I loved this song when it came out. I must have worn out the grooves in my LP by my incessant replays. Later, I learned that this song is loosely based on a true incident, as WWI soldiers from opposing regiments at the front line agreed to a brief truce to enjoy Christmas together. This incident is the basis for the movie, "Joyeux Noel".
The first time I heard this song I fell in love with it & that's been over 55 yrs. ago and I still love it. Reminds me of happier times & spending time with family, white Christmas 🎄, deep snows, simpler times. How I miss those times and wish I could actually travel back to those Christmases.
A buddy of mine had Snoopy vs The Red Baron and we had to listen to it every time we were together, then go out in the yard and have "dogfights". Good times, good memories.
This song brings back special memories. ❤🎄🎅 Since we heard it in the late 60's, it was a much different time growing up, compared to today's world. Our brother especially liked listening to this classic song. Back in the day it was on a 45 record. We played it often and happily sang along. It will be 7 years that he passed away. Hearing this song, I will always think of him and all the good times we shared. He is terribly missed.😢💙🙏🕊
I had a model of the Sopwith Camel and one of the Fokker D7 Triplane when I was around 7 years old. One Christmas, I played this song over and over (I think I had the 45) while holding the models and doing circles in the living room!
my mom used to play this when i was little when we would decorate the tree. She passed away in january 2017. I miss her and this song brings happiness and sadness and tears from the memories i have with her.
Christmas 1968. Our first xmas in a new country.I received the EP, snoopy v's the red baron. Played it every xmas It's now 2021. Mewrry christmas everyone
Bruce Marko, I remember BOTH songs about Snoopy and the Red Baron by The Royal Guardsmen. I was about ten years old when AM RADIO played them WAAAAAY BACK in the 60's. This is the first time I've heard CHRISTMAS BELLS in MANY, MANY A YEAR. 😪😪😪🤗🤗🤗✌✌✌✌
I love this song I Wish was played on the radio more often and I love the comment about the soldiers celebrating Christmas together I wish it would be peace like that everyday I think that would be a little preview of when Jesus returns Merry Christmas to everyone from Paul Smith
Woke up this morning with the chorus of this song in my head "Christmas bells, oh Christmas bells...la la la la laaa" but couldn't remember the rest of it. Searched UA-cam and saw this and thought "nah, it can't be this song" but, sure enough, it was! My parents used to play this alot at Christmas and my 2 brothers would sing along and act silly -- which is why this song surprised me because my parents were of the "children should be seen and not heard" generation.
Christmas Bells, Jingles the Christmas mouse and many others are all great songs on the Snoppy Christmas album. My most played album any time of year ❤💚
I can't thank you enough for this! I still remember the first day this played on the radio. Mom loved it. My little sister had everything Snoopy and the whole Peanuts gang. Untold number of books, records, and even a director's chair. Her love for Snoopy continued all her life. Each birthday or holiday brought a new mug or T-shirt and Snoopy cards, most of which she kept. She really did look like "Sally", Charlie Brown's sister with the blond "naturally curly hair". So...when she passed away last June at 62, I wasn't in the least surprised to find many of those same books. Really miss her!
My brother, Michael Linares, is a Peanuts fan, and when this song came on the radio, I took care of the details, saying, "With the sculpture of Pilot Snoopy I presented to you that Christmas, I had written the lyrics to this song on a scroll! Remember?" He smiled at that memory!
I remember this from my late teens. Great then and great now. I'm from Australasia and this played every Christmas along Auld Langsyne by Dan Fogelberg. Found this randomly. Thank you so much for posting it.😁

Funny to think that the song is as old as WWI was when it first came out....I know, I was there in `67...Time and the passing parade. Sigh...
Actually, Kharkovid was right. This came out in 1967. "Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron" came out in 1966. This was performed and released a year later.
