My biggest issue with the Green Latrine is the fact the admins can (and do) edit posts so it seems you said something totally different from what you actually did say, and there is no way to tell the post was edited.
Anybody that says something won't fly in the real world 100% hasn't performed enough in front of non-magicians, the more I perform the more I realize just how much I can actually get away with, and it's ridiculous, laymen are incredibly unobservant. I've performed with crib sheets that are almost blatantly obvious, don't the most ridiculous of switches in plain sight and it gets under the radar time and time again, 90% of magic is rapport and audience management, if you build rapport and gain the audiences trust they don't try as hard to catch you out allowing you to get away with almost anything. The first 10 minutes of my act I build rapport perform one mind blowing trick and after that I can do anything.
I've never being able to register in tmc. Registrations are always closed.
I was kicked off the Cafe for no reason whatsoever - no reason was given and no answer to my request for an explanation. The bullying clique on the forum accused me of being a fake account created by you - seriously! Just because I spoke favourably of your releases and often defended you when the horrible and unnecessary posts were made. The trouble was that those posting the terrible comments did not get banned but I did, which sums up their ethics and questions their agenda. I used my own name and am now proud of my ban 😂 You are spot on Craig!!! 🙂
Ditto. Seek alternatives. There don’t seem to be any comprehensive ones. The Facebook sites are mostly just for selling. I appreciate Craig’s position as always, but would love to learn of alternatives. Many thanks.
I am relatively new to magic, and I gotta admit my experience with the cafe has been pretty good. But internet drama is my guilty pleasure lol.
Yes, The Magic Café can be a lot of magic trolls, looking to stir up the crap, but it still needs real professionals and creators like you making posts. The majority of us appreciated your contributions!
I dont think it is “an overworked team” because just about everytime I post there my post is taken down almost immediately and I am accused of “self promotion” for linking my YT channel lol
I heard at Blackpool a few years ago that Brooks was shaking down dealers for free product and that he smelled like farts.
Oh yeah NewGuy, I remember that shenanigans back when that first started. I found out quick it was a fake account.
I have been totally unimpressed with the Cafe if I’m being honest.

Number one rule for social media..... Social media isn't real life. Its entertainment. Its a resource. Its good and bad like real life. It's not real though. Its concentrated real life.. But its not really real... After all I have heard about the Mag, Caf, over the years I know I will never join. I'm good with that...

My previous comment was removed for some reason. This is basically a video about the inevitable toxicity of EVERY online community ever. BBS (before the internet), IRC, Facebook group, discord server...It is fun while it lasts and then it isn't.
Never could even sign up because I had a Gmail account?! It’s ok I didn’t miss anything important. Just a bunch of move monkeys and magicians who don’t actually work😂
It is a great resource but it hasn't been updated since I joined in 2003.
I have seen the cafe for decades and it’s sad. I buy magic tools and effects almost every week. I follow all the reviewers and the cafe could have been important but it’s a disaster. I even like debate and some wildness but the cafe is just a tiny group of people dealing with an even tiny group of dickeads…
Have any favorite magic cafe alternative sites?
Genii forums is good, or Society of American Magicians are excellent alternative and the people on there are great. Genii require purchase of subscription to their magazine and SAM only requires membership to the society.
Magicians Forum has been pleasant so far
