Yeah it kind of sounds like you should do the AtoZ series all over again from the beginning , since the new dlc makes it so fresh.
But then some other DLC would come along and force him to start HOI4A2Z a third time. Also it would be incredibly unfair to the countries you have to wait for with a reset timer.

It's funny, i remember looking into the focuses while doing some minor modding, and the unthinkable option is like a 10% chance for japan in unhistorical, which makes it really fun when it happens
I had it happen on one of my recent games as Poland, but the communists lost the civil war so nothing changed.

And if they do it the communists lose the civil war and you just have a neutered fascist Japan which lost half its navy, army and generals and has to start over with its focus tree.
Honestly, even when commie Japan wins the civil war (which isn't often unless it's player-controlled/player-assisted) it's generally probably their weakest path, even compared to democratic Japan. You shoot yourself in the foot just to either side with Stalin or to... side with Mao, I guess. Whether the AI wins or loses the civil war, Japan will always be severely weakened, to the point where it's not even surprising if they fail to capture Beijing.
@@Batdude36 When you do historical, the AI has a set path. This means that there is absolutely no chance of the AI picking an alt-hist path, unless you do something to upset the balance. i suppose you're right, though. They raise the possibility from 0% to 10% for commie japan.

The reason you flipped to communist is that you took the "assertiveness" focus *during* the civil war. That flips you from a puppet of fascist Japan to a puppet of communist Japan (due to the way the tags are coded, it thinks the communists are the "real" Japan). It also meant you stayed a puppet of the victorious communists even after the war.
Never take that focus during the civil war. Wait until it's over, then the event fires that gives you complete independence, control over Korea and all the islands (e.g. including Taiwan), as well as the obsolete half of the Japanese navy and army. Also Hirohito claims refuge in your land, giving you extra stability.
PDX should fix that lmao
The "WHAT?" from the Mexican invasion of the US was perfect. I think the AI might need expert AI lol.

I love how the treaty at the end of the war was held in St. Pierre and Miquelon because that was the only place on the planet not reduced to rubble and chaos.
When he zoomed out to show Russia after the first capitulation I was physically shocked, the border gore in this video was something entirely different
It always boggles my mind that Paradox put so much effort into ahistorical focuses yet the game breaks completely when you use them.
I feel like they design them more for players than AI.
Are you telling that with historical focuses the game works as intended?
Hey ISP, a tip for invading the British. You can attach heavy flame tanks to paratroopers, giving them the 50% armor bonus turning them into SPHESS MAHREENS! Just pop in some transports to keep them supplied and they will roll over just about anything.

That was quite possibly the wildest game of HOI4 A2Z yet, and the end result was an absolutely fractured map. It definitely wins the award!
You say this may be the craziest game on your channel but i remember the "Ardennes is actually impassable" vid from a few years ago where germany got the kaiser back, joined the commentern, USA had a civil war and lost, and brazil and Austria made a faction that you went to war with and LITERALLY went to Brazil.

It has so many ahistorical paths that the world just goes crazy. It would be nice if the AI would kind of join up into blocs a little bit more
I'm sorry, but just looking at Russia/central Asia in that game, after so many AI peace deals, caused me actual physical pain.
Fun fact: I did not know what I was doing when I added Khiva to the game (if you doubt that I'm actually the one who made it you can look for my name in the game's credits.)
In that case, are you guys going to ever make a south american dlc? Because Brazil is awesome. And if you have time, maybe a more fleshed out Italy tree.

But I can tell you that if you go back and look at the pdx-con where Dan Lind revealed NSB, you will be able to find a list of things they want to do/will do, as well as hear them talk about more country packs etc in the future, so I think you can hold your hopes up for some quite good things :)

Yeah, I had the same problem when I tried my Manchuria playthrough. The issue is that the 'Independance' Focus changes your vassal status of Japan ... but when they are in the Civil War, Communist Japan is the 'main' Japan, so the focus makes you THEIR puppet rather than changing your status with the Fascist part. You have to rush the focus straight away before the Civil War starts to get it done right :p
