Hey Doug, you said mix the bucket half/half and that what will come out at the Xjet. Now its a 3:1 or 4:1 ratio on average, so how you get a half and half mix coming out at the end? To draw bleach without a proportioner from a 5 gal bucket took my 4gpm 4000psi pressure washer exactly 3:30sec. Now while I was drawing 5 gal Bleach I put out about 14-15gal total. Which is a 3:1 ratio. My SH was only 10.5% so the end result was around 3%. But you said mix half and half and the end result gonna be that. I don’t understand what you meant. I like your videos but sometimes I get lost. Thanks for your reply
Most likely because most using it for house wash do not use the proportioners and also may be just diluting in the bucket. But nonetheless the tube should not be hard to remove. Mine just slides on and off the hose barb.

Doug I just bought a 4000 Simpson pressure washer I don’t want to fry this thing once I release the trigger so how can I have the water run into a bucket or ground do you have a set up that I can buy of you guys before I fire this up thanks
If it’s belt drive you can bypass off the unloader. If not then you can get a ball valve set up and open when off the trigger. But, it in any case, relax, you can be off trigger up to a minute or so, plus it should have a relief valve to prevent damage to the pump. No need not to fire up.

Question, how much can a 4000 psi hose take as in pressure? Question 2: how much does a 4400 psi 4gpm maschine put out does it push 4400 psi? Question 3: can the 4000 psi take the 4400 psi maschine? Thank you in advance 🙏
Great video. Appreciate it. So let me see if I understand this. You mentioned however you dilute the SH in the bucket is pretty close to how it’ll come out with an xjet. So does that mean if you’re starting off with 12.5% SH and you put 50/50 Sh and water. You’ve got about 6.25% SH inside the bucket and by the time it goes through the PW and house water line it’ll still be 6.25% roughly? The house water line in the PW doesn’t dilute it anymore?
Yes it will dilute it some. I just, for me is how I do it. The X jet comes with a chart to help you with exact solutions if that’s what your wanting to figure out. I’ve never been one to do that. I just need it to change the color of the organic stains. If it does that I know it’s strong enough.
There should be a chart on the proportioners bag that is a guide. It’s also on the instructions that come with the X jet. I’ve personally never used the proportioners before. If you need the directions email me at info@dougruckerstore.com and I’ll get a copy to you

How do I get a 1-1.25% solution using a 2.3gpm machine and 10% sh? Do I use a proportioner at all? No proportioner is .8:1. I’m currently using a 9-1 proportioner while putting 1.25 gallons of 10% SH and the rest water in a 5 gallon jug. Is that to lean for vinyl siding?
Hi Doug. I bought an open xjet gun from yo. Pretty sure it’s the 6-8gpm . I run anywhere from 7-9gpm. My proprioners are useless. I also use a 40ft hose. Other day i went to use it., and its been years, but it was backflowing back into the bucket Any idea whats causing this???
Hey Todd, backflow is usually caused by a restriction. Could be the nozzle or orifice is clogged, has debris in it, or two small for the GPM you are using. Using too high a pressure nozzle, if you are using a Jrod you can only use the 2 larger size nozzles on it. Could be the wrong orifice size, you can check what size orifice you are using by taking the gun and nipple fitting off and the orifice has a number imprinted on it. #16 is for 5-6.5GPM #20 is for 7-8GPM. As for the proportioners they are good for certain chems, but I personally have never used the proportioners.
Hey Doug I have a question. I only do flat surface, driveway, sidewalk, etc. Laying down pre and post treats with a 2 gallon pump up sprayer is a burden. So if i get this video you are saying without modifications the xjett is to high pressure for that type of task? I really have to get away from the pump up but in the most affordable way possible as im just getting started.
No I did not mean that, just need to be careful of the overspray onto grass though. It will work fine with out the modification for pre and post treating, but again watch the mist and over spray.
If I put a x jet tip on a modified x jet would I have the same effect and distance like using the j rod with the shooter tip ? Thanks for the great videos sir.
Does anyone ever have little white spots on vinyl after rinsing? I’ve had it lately on colored siding and I’m using a 1.5% solution with a 9-1 proportioner
@@PressureCleaningSch should I just do away with a proportioner and batch mix my chemicals in my xjet pale? Or should I just a 6-1 instead of 9-1. Feels like it’s getting to diluted
Hi Doug, Great video and explanation. I have a question what percentage of SH comes out the tip of the xjet using straight SH out of the bucket no proportioner ? I hear it’s 3% using 12.5 SH. I use 10% SH. Can you help me out with this. Thanks a million
Hey Doug got a question. I want to hook up my x jet polly 3/8" line on a reel. Can I use 100 feet? If it reduces pressure a bit that is perfectly fine. If so I'll order the 100 feet from you soon. And when I got the 25 ft line from you I didnt order the x jet ball valve. Im going to need that to cut off chems as I want to wet the surface before chem without changing guns. Thanks for all your help and quick responses. Dedicated DR customer for life.
What if you get longer hose to where maybe u can leave a bucket on truck or something so you don't carry bucket when you do half the house at least will it lower anything as far as as high it can shoot or Chem percent with it being long enough to not carry bucket around even less ?
I have two soft wash systems, both with 4gpm 4000 psi machines. We turn down the pressure and both units have 100ft of suction hose to the xjet. It siphons without issue. It will even siphon up on the roof when we have to get closer to peaks etc, albeit takes a few seconds longer for the solution to reach the nozzle. We do HOA condo buildings and townhomes with this system, and it's the only thing we use.
Doubt you’ll get it that high. In this link is the x-jet instruction manual. Scroll down in the description part and you’ll see it. From there you see the ratios based on the GPM of your machine. And also if any inserts are used. www.dougruckerstore.com/products/x-jet-m5-long-range-external-chemical-injection-nozzle/
I use a 2.5 gpm until I can upgrade and I'll modify my gun myself with a few parts but my wand is 16" by how much do you think it'll dilute without chemical? Ty
Wait... I'm confused. If you mix half sh and half water..a 50/50 mix... wouldn't it come out less than 50/50 if there's no proportioner? You said it'll come out exactly how you mixer it in the bucket....
Do you need to clean the new fence somehow before staining? For some reason I can't find a clear answer anywhere, some advise just to powerwash, some to apply a fence cleaner before powerwash, some seems like don't do anything, just brush off w/huge brush and then stain. It is cedar fence I just put, but not sure about the question above. I would appreciate your professional opinion on this matter. Thank you for the great film.
Hey Doug, Placed an order last week. Almost completely understand downstream and xjet purely from your videos. One question I have starting out is what do I do about my chems? I don't have a steady stream of customers. Would you just go to Lowes and buy gallons of bleach(or larger if they have them) as needed and then put in a 5 gallon bucket (like the xjet bucket) mixed with water and a surfactant? I was about to just buy a 65 gallon tank thinking that I could just leave it sitting in there and didn't realize it degrades over time. Also, you've told me a soft wash system is just a sprayer on steroids. Just starting with tight funds would it be a good alternative just to carry around a pump sprayer for decks, fences and areas on a house that need a little more heat and then rinse with the pressure washer at lower psi?
Yes just buy gallon jugs and use 5 gallon buckets to downstream out of until your ready to buy in bulk. And yes on the Pump up sprayer too. You got this.
Hi Doug, great video I really appreciate you. I have a question with that X jet how much SH will come out of it if I’m using straight 10% SH out of a bucket ? Thanks 🙏
Hi Mr. Doug Rucker. Watch the section on the video on the proportioner ratio. I'm getting confused. I'm going to run no tip (open) on the X-Jet system. The X-Jet chart states (1.6 - 1). I'm also assuming this is full throttle on the machine. If I'm using 10% (SH) and using 3500 psi @ 4.0 gpm machine how do I figure out the ratio in the 5 gallon for (1.0% , 2% & 3%)? Do i have to use 2.5 gal (SH) with 2.5 gal of (water) = 5%. Then divide that by 1.6, which = 3.125? Again. I little confusing when you're saying it comes out of the gun the same as the solution in the container. Just curious any information will be helpful. Thanks Michael C - (WA)
Hey Michael, that 1.6 is always going to be dependent on many variables, thats why I always go by and say that it pretty much is coming out by what you mix it at.
@@PressureCleaningSch Hi Mr Rucker, I did a few draw test and the math this weekend. The chart was correct at (1.6 - 1) with a 4.0 gpm no tip (open) and full throttle. You can round off a little to 1.5 if that helps. If so, remember it will be divide by 2.5 So basically you make a strong mix solution in the 5 gallon container and then divide it 2.6 or 2.5. That will give you the percent. Example: Using 10% (SH). 1. Mix 2.5 gallon (SH) - 2.5 gallon of water = 5.0%. 2. Now divide that by 2.6 and you get 1.9% or close to (2.0%). This will be the draw that comes out of the X-Jet. The same steps for using 12.5% (SH). Again just make sure you do a draw test with the machine. It you draw straight 12.5% or 10% from the 5 gallon bucket divide it by 2.6 or 2.5 and you will get you percent. I hope this helps someone. Thank you, Michael C - (WA)
30-50% depending on how bad it is. Yes you can use laundry soap in a pinch I just would use it all the time and keep it off windows or rinse it quickly. I use this cause it goes a long way and is great on windows. www.dougruckerstore.com/products/dougie-fresh-surfactant-1-gallon/
I bought the X Jet nozzle on Amazon and the one they sent doesnt fit into my quick connect. (It’s too small-Falls right out) How do I modify this to work in my 3.5 gpm machine? I just ordered the hose separately. Should’ve just ordered them together 😞
Sounds like you have the wrong fitting on your gun. X jet is a quarter inch plug fitting so you need a quarter inch female socket quick connect fitting.
@@PressureCleaningSch My bad. I was over working this morning and realized my nozzle is indeed 1/4 inch. It fits in. I tried the x jet nozzle in a 3/8 quick connect not realizing I already changed my Suttner to 1/4. 😃

Looking for input. For 6 years I mix 1.5-2 gal. SH to 3-3.5 water and a squirt of dawn in X-jet pail. I use the beige perportioner when doing vinyl siding. Dies a pretty good job killing organics. Thoughts?
If it's working for you thats great. All you need is for the SH to change the color of the organics with out causing oxidation form being to hot. So if it's working for you no need to change anything.

@@PressureCleaningSch Thanks for the tips! :-) See what I did there?
Hey doug i love the videos. How do i get the filter end piece off that way i can connect to the bucket?
Cut the hose.
Can we use X jet on vinyl siding house
Doug I just bought a 4000 Simpson pressure washer I don’t want to fry this thing once I release the trigger so how can I have the water run into a bucket or ground do you have a set up that I can buy of you guys before I fire this up thanks
If it’s belt drive you can bypass off the unloader. If not then you can get a ball valve set up and open when off the trigger. But, it in any case, relax, you can be off trigger up to a minute or so, plus it should have a relief valve to prevent damage to the pump. No need not to fire up.
Great video, I believe I need to re build my modified x jet because it’s pushing water into my soap bucket and only sprays water.
Could also be wrong nozzle causing restriction.
Exact same problem here. 8gpm machine using no proportioner. Do I need to just use a 2560 nozzle? I was using a 2540.
@@toddluns1 I got mine off Amazon and they sent me one that wasn’t Strong enough for a 5.5 so I had to order a new orface or how ever you spell it. I put the new one inside the x jet and it’s worked ever since.
Mr Doug I need a remote control downstream injector the shertzbox box with a extra remote when will you have anymore
We have them now
I have a down stream injector… as I finished applying my SH… I noticed that after rinsing the house down… my container was half full before I sprayed SH… but afterwards was filled with water? How did water get into my SH container?
May have the injector on backwards. Make sure the arrow on it is pointing towards the gun. Not back to the machine
Mr. Doug This is so nice of you to show us how to build a X-Jet Bucket, It this reason that I chose to purchase one from you. Im also looking forward to taking your class. My sweet wife had a heart attack three weeks ago but once she is back on track and healthy I will go ahead and sign up for the online course. Oh is there a time limit on the online class? Thank you again for your help.
First off prayers for your wife. Glad to hear she’s recovering going to be ok. There is no time limit on the online school. It’s a lifetime membership and you can watch whenever you want as many times as you want.
Can you install the xjet where the downstreamer is, to pull more soap?
No won’t work like that
@@PressureCleaningSch thanks
Question, how much can a 4000 psi hose take as in pressure?
Question 2: how much does a 4400 psi 4gpm maschine put out does it push 4400 psi?
Question 3: can the 4000 psi take the 4400 psi maschine?
Thank you in advance 🙏
1) Probably around 3500-3700 2) No usually a little less, about 500 PSI less 3)Not sure what your asking here
Can I use an xjet with a normal 4gpm machine? No soft wash system?
Yes. You sure can. Just don’t use it for roofs.
I need to use degreaser but I don’t not what proportioner to use on a 3.5 gpm? Can someone help me please? With a 5 gallon tank
There should be a chart on the proportioners bag that is a guide. It’s also on the instructions that come with the X jet. I’ve personally never used the proportioners before. If you need the directions email me at info@dougruckerstore.com and I’ll get a copy to you
Thanks, Great videos!!
Thank you Ronnie

Funkeedadee, what state are you in ? Maybe I could supply you work !
Great video I loved it one question though. What % bleach mixture do you use for cleaning house siding?
How do I get a 1-1.25% solution using a 2.3gpm machine and 10% sh?
Do I use a proportioner at all? No proportioner is .8:1.
I’m currently using a 9-1 proportioner while putting 1.25 gallons of 10% SH and the rest water in a 5 gallon jug. Is that to lean for vinyl siding?
wow great video
Thanks!
Love your how to videos!! Please keep videos coming helps so much! Thanks
Thank you so much and I will if there are ever a topic you need a video on let me know. I’ll try to work it in
The gun I’m using has no proportioner. I bought the proportion less model from you.
@@toddluns1 we have them on the web site if you want to try it
Hey Doug I have a question.
I can pre soak the grass with water. If I use it stock will it be about the same as a soap tip or more?
@@stevanhoffman4240 more. Much more pressure and most.
@@PressureCleaningSch thanks for your help. Think I'm just gonna go to an electric pump sprayer for now. Love the videos, you rock.
Thanks Doug as always really HELPFULL
Thanks so much
If I put a x jet tip on a modified x jet would I have the same effect and distance like using the j rod with the shooter tip ? Thanks for the great videos sir.
I’ve never tried it but I believe you would
Thank you! I just got one for my business
Awesome
When using the X-Jet it’s usually a 4-to-1 ratio. When down streaming it’s roughly a 10-to-1 ratio. The higher number being water.
So assuming 12.5% SH that’s over 3%, you could roof wash with that.
Does anyone ever have little white spots on vinyl after rinsing? I’ve had it lately on colored siding and I’m using a 1.5% solution with a 9-1 proportioner
Yes that can happen if if using to much soap, letting your mix dry, and or not rinsing enough.
@@PressureCleaningSch should I just do away with a proportioner and batch mix my chemicals in my xjet pale? Or should I just a 6-1 instead of 9-1. Feels like it’s getting to diluted
@@jonlefurge5512 they’d what I do. Batch mix. I’ve never used the proportioners in mine.

Hi Doug,
Great video and explanation. I have a question what percentage of SH comes out the tip of the xjet using straight SH out of the bucket no proportioner ? I hear it’s 3% using 12.5 SH. I use 10% SH. Can you help me out with this. Thanks a million
Your pretty close. I’ve never tested it. I don’t use x jet very much.
It work good when you use 1/4 air line hose
I have heard that from a few that use 1/4
Where do i go to get the xjet bucket?
www.dougruckerstore.com/products/x-jet-pail-system/
On your website store do you ship to Australia?
Yes we sure do. Email Laura at orders@dougruckerstore.com and she can help you.
Thank you 😊
I have a 4gpm xjet will it work on my 2.5 gpm pressure washer?
I doubt it will perform very well. The nozzle might be to big for that machine.
Yes you can 100 ft.
What if you get longer hose to where maybe u can leave a bucket on truck or something so you don't carry bucket when you do half the house at least will it lower anything as far as as high it can shoot or Chem percent with it being long enough to not carry bucket around even less ?
I’ve used 100 feet before
I have two soft wash systems, both with 4gpm 4000 psi machines.
If I want 6 % SH what % dilution SH do I put into the bucket?
Doubt you’ll get it that high. In this link is the x-jet instruction manual. Scroll down in the description part and you’ll see it. From there you see the ratios based on the GPM of your machine. And also if any inserts are used. www.dougruckerstore.com/products/x-jet-m5-long-range-external-chemical-injection-nozzle/
What sz is the modified gun on both ends? Great video, ty
3/8 inlet 1/4 out
Will this product dilute chemical’s and if so by how much?
Yes it will. Depends on the machine your using. Anywhere from 1:1 on up. The instructions are on our web site.
I use a 2.5 gpm until I can upgrade and I'll modify my gun myself with a few parts but my wand is 16" by how much do you think it'll dilute without chemical? Ty
Hi Doug do you deliver to the UK
No I’m sorry we do not.
@@PressureCleaningSch ok np. Great videos
Wait... I'm confused. If you mix half sh and half water..a 50/50 mix... wouldn't it come out less than 50/50 if there's no proportioner? You said it'll come out exactly how you mixer it in the bucket....
Yes it will. I just say how I consider it. Don’t go by what I do.
XJet is 50/50 out the Gun correct? So 5 gallons of 10% would be 5% out the Gun not using inserts?
How would that work with the xjet that don't have the twist nozzle
It wouldn’t.
@@PressureCleaningSch Thank you for taking the time to respond to him, I had almost the exact same questions. You’re the man , Doug!
Hi Doug, great video I really appreciate you. I have a question with that X jet how much SH will come out of it if I’m using straight 10% SH out of a bucket ? Thanks 🙏
I think it’s like 3:1. Depending on you flow rate I’ve never really tested it.
@@PressureCleaningSch so that would give him .125 solution or mix hitting the surface?
Thanks
Michael C - (WA)
Hey Michael, that 1.6 is always going to be dependent on many variables, thats why I always go by and say that it pretty much is coming out by what you mix it at.
@@PressureCleaningSch
Hi Mr Rucker,
I did a few draw test and the math this weekend. The chart was correct at (1.6 - 1) with a 4.0 gpm no tip (open) and full throttle. You can round off a little to 1.5 if that helps. If so, remember it will be divide by 2.5
So basically you make a strong mix solution in the 5 gallon container and then divide it 2.6 or 2.5.
Thank you,
Michael C - (WA)

Sounds like you have the wrong fitting on your gun. X jet is a quarter inch plug fitting so you need a quarter inch female socket quick connect fitting.

So if it's working for you no need to change anything.
hey Doug, do you ship to new York state?
