@@HenrysHavoc that actually was something I totally forgot could happen, maybe in that case it could be whoever performed better in the HOH having that little bit of extra power to break tie votes.
I like the idea of the BOB being individual with two winners! However, if the two winners were nominated by the same HOH, they would still be dethroned but safe, would get a vote, and would get to compete the next week

Although BB has done some horrible twists I do give them credit for taking notes of when twists spectacularly backfired, like in modern BB they would never hand out a free Coup D'Etat. If there was ever going to be a power as big as that, there would be some major challenge to overcome to get it instead of just getting it handed to you by America's vote.
Yeah if they ever gave out that type of power today it would probably be because you said a robot could enter the game and then won a challenge. Then they’d give it to a guy with a Q name because the power sounds very Q like
@@aaronsmith4806 the only way I would accept the Coup D'Etat being handed out for free is if Q Burdette was unleashed into the house as an intruder and given the Coup D'Etat to immediately go on a power trip
Bb21 was the first and only full season I watched because of Amazing Race’s teams were coming from BB. I was amazed how awful people treated each other.
You can’t blame twist for big brother 9. That whole season was doomed after Joshua said what he said. The most disgusting thing anybody has ever said on this show.
Pendant of Protection would be #6 to me. If Cody had nominated Paul and him be evicted week 1... season 19 would be SOOO MUCH BETTER. Potentially even a top tier season
Funny enough, the Festie Besties twist is the only reason the uprising happened If Taylor & Nicole weren’t Festie Besties, then Nicole never would have wanted to throw the Veto competition, there never would have been the misunderstanding over Taylor thinking Nicole wanted to quit, Nicole would never complain to Daniel about Taylor making that misunderstanding, Daniel never would have publicly attacked Taylor’s character, and the Leftovers never would’ve banded together to save Taylor
@olivermensinger6022 the secret partners was a casting twist that had little to no impact on how the season went. America's Player lasted one week and again had little, if any, impact on how the season played out. Most other seasons with twists last longer and you can see where they could have impacted the season.
Camp Comeback was a good idea but executed wrong. If CBS is going to borrow (steal) a twist from Survivor, then do it properly. The first 4 should have gone to a separate location (like redemption island) and had a private battle(s) to see who makes it back in to the house.
The coup d’etat could be interesting if nerfed so that the HoH still holds control of who is on the block. That way it’s still a solid power while not being completely broken. I also think it should always remove both noms instead of the holder getting to choose, that way there’s a risk vs reward aspect to it where the holder has to make sure that the person that leaves isn’t one of their closest ally and instead someone they can let go.
@@projectboy5409As the coup d’etat? Pretty much except the players knew that the power was in play from the beginning of the game and it activated in the beginning of the week, so I would say it was a bit more balanced, albeit still overpowered.
I think the coup d’etat could have been better if, instead of just publically overthrowing the HOH it can instead give the holder and 2 or 3 houseguests of their choice secret safety which only gets revealed once one or more houseguests with that safety sit on the block, then saying who else is save (but not who held the power), that way the HOH can still be taken offguard but still decides who goes up in the end while whoever has the power can keep their closes allies save OR give safety to people to frame them doing their own thing behind everyones back
@@projectboy5409 Yeah but the BB26 players knew that *a* power was in play from the very beginning is what I meant, so the players could’ve strategized around it even if they hadn’t known Quinn had it. The coup d’etat basically came out of nowhere so there was nothing the other players could’ve done to play around it. On top of that, the coup d’etat happening basically 10 mins before the eviction makes it impossible to play around since there’s no time for the nominees to campaign so the evicted player is just screwed out of the game. The deep fake HoH came into play at the beginning of the week so it basically played out the same as any other week, just with a new HoH that was supposed to be a secret. Quinn’s nominees had ample time to campaign and could also save themselves by winning Veto or AI Arena. Hence, it’s far more balanced.
I kind of liked Battle Of The Block actually. But I agree that Zombie Week & maybe Humiliweek was terrible, didn’t like being a Have Not through the entire week when someone that I despised entirely won HOH.
Zombie Week was done to assure that season 25 lasted a full 100 days, while the writer’s and actor’s strike was still going on. But yeah that twist, should not happen ever again.
I was about to go to bed, but then I saw this Edit: bro, I really need to sleep Edit 2 for anyone wondering yes I got a good sleep and yes I feel tired
Big Brother’s pre jury twists make me physically ill. “Expect the unexpected” seems to be geared on surprising the houseguests more than surprising the viewer. We all know your dumb twists are coming hahaha
The Coup d'etat was horrible, BUT... the meltdowns that it brought were fantastic viewing! From the girls crying over Jesse as if he were dead and Chima losing her mind.... so much fun!
I don’t hate the battle of the block as much as a lot of people mostly because big brother 16 is the first season. I fully watched so it does have a level of nostalgia. But do I want it to come back no! Because it would literally just make the game everyone get into an alliance of eight people and vote all eight people off!
I think that the casting of the season was great. My first ever season was Ian and Dan. I had no idea who Janelle was but I loved Britney. Looking back she was likely a replacement coach. I think that format was awesome and idk why they haven’t gone back to it. Don’t even pretend they are just coaching. Just bring back 4 stars.
The HOH takeover twist that Quinn had this season felt kind of similar to a coup de tat but at least he earned at and at least it still played out like a normal week. I think I’m just not huge fans of HOH takeovers. Like that’s the one form of power in the game and to give a power to basically rip it away feels cruel
I feel like the Zombies twist would’ve been interesting if the week was still playing like normal while Jared and Cameron were competing and the house would have no idea who would come back
13:18 Imagine if Grodner kept this philosophy up, taking a secret power away if you tell someone about it. Jag wouldn’t have been able to be HoH two weeks in a row last season, and iirc Cirie got 2nd place in the comp he wouldn’t have been allowed to compete in.
you should do a video on uk bigbrother!! its really different but its so entertaining and interesting to see the dynamics and events that sprout, definitely recommend it :)
I think Camp Comeback could've worked, but not as implemented. Send them to a secret part of the house where the audience can still watch them, maybe don't tell everyone there is a comeback chance, and now we get to see their personalities.
I love the twist they used this season that’s similar to the battle of the block but it’s just different enough with a few different aspects that it’s really good
The ONE time the underlings had full control during Battle of the Block, they blew it by putting Victoria up with Caleb and Zach with Jocasta. Donnie & Nicole could have ensured that 4 members of the dominant alliance could have gone up & guaranteed one of them out. Instead, they gave them the chance to see all of the dominant alliance survive. How Nicole got invited back for another season, then proceeded to WIN it, still boggles the mind.
America’s player isn’t terrible the 2nd time they did it. It was awful when it basically ensured that dick and Danielle made it to the end. Idk what they paid Eric but if it wasn’t $200,000 then it wasn’t enough. He forfeit his whole game. The idea should have been that America wants americas player to win… they clearly didn’t… the time with Derrick, Frankie, and farmer jimbob or whatever, I liked the twist
@@aaronsmith4806 I'm only on season 10 right now, but I thought "America's Player" for BB8 was supposed to give him an advantage. That is kind of crappy, but also very Big Brother. Instead, it gave him a huge disadvantage and didn't even allow him to play for real since he had to keep turning on his own people. It wasn't implemented well at all and allowing Evil Dick to win will always be a travesty
I dunno٫ Americas Players in an odd spot. On one hand٫ it is completely and utterly unfair to Eric but to an audience٫ I think America's player did bring some very good moments to the show (The vote paranoia٫ Erics failed blindside٫ Dustins blindside) as well as getting to see Eric skillfully manouver through the game despite the handicap. I also cut it some slack just because I don't believe America's Player was made to rig the game in Dick + Danielles favor but it devolved into that overtime. I don't think it's a good twist by any means (Especially the Veto shit- they seriously had NO plan if Eric got the veto????? Now that makes me wonder- did they have a plan if Eric got HOH in a double eviction?) and I dislike how Eric is literally forced to throw away his game in favour of Dick + Danielle but overall I do think at the end of the day it's a part of BB8 and it did give some fun moments٫ it's just sad it came at the expense of Erics game. (Also side note I feel like Americas player should've got MVP nerfed the moment it started being used to just downright rig the game but also I don't think production would've done that anyways٫ specially since Dick + Danielle WERE fan favorites)
Funny how in French survivor, having linked contestants 2 by 2 look a good thing (it happen every season, during only three days). Being able to play the equivalent of an idol (and be right) let you save two people at once. Or it just make the minority goes away faster and have interesting episode on the main alliance faster (even if it's rare).
I think it was Cory who suggested in the house that the main reason they did Zombie Week was because they had to kill a week due to the extended season. I have never seen a twist kill the entire game that way or kill the spirit in the house. The closest would be America's Player in season 8, which made for a very dead house after Dustin left and Dick steamrolled.
Shoutout to BB16's rewind twist that totally ruined Frankie's game. I think it was the precursor to the Zombie week of BB25. A week that amount to NOTHING and was complete filler. Frankie making it to F4 could've been a wrench to Derrick's win it would've been interesting see them face each other.
Bb25 is my favorite season and I think that if zombie week wasn’t a thing than it would be one of the best seasons ever. Such an amazing unique cast, and I actually love the long run time.
The ONLY thing I liked about battle of the block was watching Johnny Mac try to throw comps but his partner was always so bad that they would lose anyway
I just wish the Zombie week thing was a 1 day thing. Like they do the double, and then the two evicted houseguests do a insanely hard insurance comp. Let’s say you have to make it past 45 mins to stay. If both drop before that, no one goes. If neither drop then it’s whoever drops first, etc. then introduce them the next day as a surprise to the house, and that’s it.
Still can't believe they decided it'd be a good idea to eliminate almost an entire week of normal BB gameplay during Zombie Week. It was soooo boring to watch...
Battle of the block always pissed me off. Not only did it make it easier for the majority alliance like you said, I also feel like it made episodes drag on and not in a good way
I liked the BoB only because it allowed Derrick to have an unbreakable Big Brother record! But other than that, it absolutely sucked 😅 Besides for Zombie Week though, Camp Comeback was the worst!! Without it, Nick is out Week 2 or Jack is out Week 3.
I think the worst version of the duos twist was the Pandora's box version introduced at F6. That meant that the two people on the block were nominated by default. Also surprised that Pandora's box wasn't given a dishonourable mention at least.
I am still awaiting financial compensation for sitting through and watching scary week in bb25 while it was happening. The double eviction night where Cory evicted Jared was literally set to be the best episode of the show until the two evicted houseguests, who also happened to be the two worst houseguests, never left the damn house. That wasn't a double eviction at all. That was a week of wasted time leading up to a single eviction, and the drama that came from it honestly wasn't even fun at all.
Without Derrick, BotB becomes a top 10 twist in bb history. Without him the majority alliance likely doesn’t exist and the players don’t figure out how to break the twist.
The showrunners are absolutely to blame. It's almost as if they don't know how the game is played when they come up with these twists. Alternatively, maybe they want the big alliance to game the twist as it makes for an easier edit?
I have only watch BB10, BB14, and BB17 (plus started BB6, but I don't think I can finish it :/), but I loved the Battle of the Block on BB17. It was fun. I dunno if it was worse on BB16, but I'd personally like to see it again.
I think camp comeback was interesting in concept. Because usually the problem of people coming back is them being so away from the game. Buuut it did cause more timid gameplay
Honestly the best way to bring back the BOB is whatever HOH is dethroned they are now nominated on the block so it's a bigger risk being okay to be dethroned
The thing about Zombie Week is that it seemed like they were trying to do something in line with Big Brother Canada 9’s fake double eviction. I actually liked the idea because of how much it can shake up the game over such a short period of time, which was what happened in this case. Having it drag out an entire week made so little sense! It also made so little sense to have the battle of the block and coup d’etat twists. I will give BB17 credit that the twist hurt the game a lot less, but I still wish it wasn’t there! But both of these twists disrupt the format of the game in the worst ways and should never be brought back!
The Camp Comeback twist's weird racist undertones I can't entirely blame on production since it wasn't productions fault the house voted out only people of colour, but it's still a weirdly segregating twist either way.
In theory, I definitely like the idea of evicted houseguests not actually leaving the house and still being able to play the social game. Execution wise, both times the show has attempted this have been beyond abysmal
The idea immediately falls flat in any scenario because why the hell would anyone talk strategy or game with someone not in the house? No sway, can't play, can't vote, won't matter if they don't win the comeback comp, can only hurt your own game if they go telling others.
we were spared from whatever the fuck backstage boss was supposed to be. An all-time terrible twist idea, i hope they never try to actually implement it
It was going to be a single run of Paloma vs Taylor in the exact same "Bye Bye Backstage" comp that they just reused for the HOH part 1 that week. Aka the same one where Jasmine twisted her ankle.
Camp comeback could’ve worked had they not told the houseguest how many evictions would happen before they did the game to come back bc some people like nick I believe would’ve still risked making the big moves
I liked the battle of the block, but it was definitely too overpowered for alliances. By the time it was over in BB17, the Austwins already had majority influence over the house and could do whatever the hell they wanted.
Are there any modifications you could make to Coup de Tat that might be powerful but still allow for some strategy on the opposing part? It actually feels like there's something there. like for example: Coup de Tat holder has to declare their intention to use it after HoH is won. or maybe, going with the theme, you have to have the vote of half the players to coup the HoH, but if you fail to gain that support you're automatically nominated. something like that
The Leftovers used the festie besties twist in such a smart way, the other side of the house thought they had the advantage.

This may not be a "perfect" version of the twist since someone would most likely find a way to game it in some way but I feel like this at the very least an improvement because it removes the two dumbest parts of the twist, duos and losing safety as HOH
what if the votes tie at eviction which HOH would break the tie?
@@HenrysHavoc that actually was something I totally forgot could happen, maybe in that case it could be whoever performed better in the HOH having that little bit of extra power to break tie votes.
I like the idea of the BOB being individual with two winners! However, if the two winners were nominated by the same HOH, they would still be dethroned but safe, would get a vote, and would get to compete the next week
@@DustD.Reaper they would have to agree on the tiebreaker vote unless one of them also won veto, in which case they would have the sole tiebreaker vote. If they cant agree, then they become vulnerable and another vote takes place. The POV winner would only vote to break a tie!
@@MrJfinn007 could it also be the first one to win hoh gets the tie breaker
Deep Fake HoH got close though. Too powerful
The BB21 image of those 3 first evictiees was SO BAD
Like holy hell, that's such a horrible look to anyone looking in Big Brother!
Funny enough, the Festie Besties twist is the only reason the uprising happened
If Taylor & Nicole weren’t Festie Besties, then Nicole never would have wanted to throw the Veto competition, there never would have been the misunderstanding over Taylor thinking Nicole wanted to quit, Nicole would never complain to Daniel about Taylor making that misunderstanding, Daniel never would have publicly attacked Taylor’s character, and the Leftovers never would’ve banded together to save Taylor
There needs to be one season where there are no twists. I loved BB6 and BB10. No twists, no re-dos and or battle backs. Just classic big brother
didn’t kaysar win a battle back in season 6
6 had the secret pairs and a returning player, 10 had americas player for a week.
@olivermensinger6022 the secret partners was a casting twist that had little to no impact on how the season went. America's Player lasted one week and again had little, if any, impact on how the season played out.
Most other seasons with twists last longer and you can see where they could have impacted the season.
They should. Sadly, production would strongly believe ratings would tank and people would stop watching.
Video idea: all the times producers meddled with the season
I'm curious was the deepfake hoh basically the same thing?
@@projectboy5409As the coup d’etat? Pretty much except the players knew that the power was in play from the beginning of the game and it activated in the beginning of the week, so I would say it was a bit more balanced, albeit still overpowered.
@@handsoaphandsoap They may have not known is Quinn had been more quiet
More proof that Joseph turning 25 is the single greatest moment in Big Brother
Notice how most of these twists just give the majority alliance, which usually has the fan favorites, a huge advantage
i will never get tired of that clip of jeff saying coup d'etat
I kind of liked Battle Of The Block actually. But I agree that Zombie Week & maybe Humiliweek was terrible, didn’t like being a Have Not through the entire week when someone that I despised entirely won HOH.
Zombie Week was done to assure that season 25 lasted a full 100 days, while the writer’s and actor’s strike was still going on. But yeah that twist, should not happen ever again.
Production really tried hard to destroy season 25 by negating the pressure cooker and the double eviction. And they succeeded. Such a shame.
no bc zombie week was the most boring thing ever😭😭
If I remember correctly. The zombie twist was on the same week that something was on TV that would take BB’s spot.
Thanks for the content Ethanimale. Singlehandedly hooked me onto the show lmfao
Honorable mention: Making Kaitlyn from BB20 solve a puzzle or go home. Man that was hard to watch.
I was about to go to bed, but then I saw this
Edit: bro, I really need to sleep
Edit 2 for anyone wondering yes I got a good sleep and yes I feel tired
Big Brother’s pre jury twists make me physically ill. “Expect the unexpected” seems to be geared on surprising the houseguests more than surprising the viewer. We all know your dumb twists are coming hahaha
It probably is more geared towards the houseguests than the viewers as Julie usually advertises it a week in advance at least.
Bb Zombies feels like it was set to be a standard battle back competition that they had to stagger out for a full week due to Luke's expulsion.
I'm okay with the coup d'etat but the power that Paul had in big brother 19 where ,he was safe for the first three weeks was even more OP
I appreciate all your videos because you do NOT ignore blatant racism and that's really refreshing and nice to see !!!
@aaronsmith4806 maybe because it was good so they don't want to bring stuff that was good back.
Kemi and Ovi deserves to have another shot in an another season idc cause they absolutely deserved better and they were robbed
The twists this season have been pretty good imo
The HOH takeover twist that Quinn had this season felt kind of similar to a coup de tat but at least he earned at and at least it still played out like a normal week. I think I’m just not huge fans of HOH takeovers. Like that’s the one form of power in the game and to give a power to basically rip it away feels cruel
For Zombie week, even Zach (Cory's Brother) took some time off watching feeds during zombie week cause of how boring it was lol
I quit watching BB but Ethanimale is forever!
Wow I had never heard of Camp Comeback. That is extremely egregious
you should do a video on uk bigbrother!! its really different but its so entertaining and interesting to see the dynamics and events that sprout, definitely recommend it :)
I think Camp Comeback could've worked, but not as implemented. Send them to a secret part of the house where the audience can still watch them, maybe don't tell everyone there is a comeback chance, and now we get to see their personalities.
Idk man... the rewind button was pretty freakin bad too
It was awful.
Surprised to see no mention of America's Player!
Would love to see a 5 Best Twists video too!
Also, while the Coup d'etat is a bad twist, I will never not laugh at Jeff saying "coop dee, coop dee tah?"
The Zombie twist & Camp Comeback twists pissed me off so badly & it ruined both of those seasons!
Chima had every right to be mad her whole week has HOH meant nothing
She had a right to be mad; she did not have a right to destroy property and refuse to wear her mic.
@@jenniferferguson1517I would’ve crashed out even more lmao
PLEASE no power app again!
“I guess me and the producers need to have a little talk!”She was over the show at that very point.
Such an amazing unique cast, and I actually love the long run time.
camp comeback is almost singlehandedly why the cookout had to happen. it was disheartening to see for all the poc bb fans.
that and the racist season obviously. It made peopleethink, "whats wrong with an all black alliance when there have been so many all white alliances?"
Whenever I need to get fired up and angry (for the adrenaline), I watch clips of Isabella bullying Nicole, Kemi, or Ovi.
The ONLY thing I liked about battle of the block was watching Johnny Mac try to throw comps but his partner was always so bad that they would lose anyway
battle of the block is the reason i hate the AI arena. tucker is going to win this whole season because of it
I hope not
@@olivermensinger6022 me too
Zombie week should have been double eviction, then a in the dark HoH, some scary PoV, then the week ends with another double eviction.
But other than that, it absolutely sucked 😅
Besides for Zombie Week though, Camp Comeback was the worst!!
I love the battle of the block!!
I love these videos. Can we get more BBCan content
Honestly the best way to bring back the BOB is whatever HOH is dethroned they are now nominated on the block so it's a bigger risk being okay to be dethroned
I absolutely don’t blame China for having the meltdown that she had after that twist.
Saying this pre-watch and Number One needs to be Zombie Week
ethanimale is FEEDING us and we love it
The thing about Zombie Week is that it seemed like they were trying to do something in line with Big Brother Canada 9’s fake double eviction.
AI arena is a surprisingly great twist

Happy birthday!
Mine is exactly 2 weeks away. Next 2 Mondays. Happy Birthday and God Bless You
@@aaronsmith4806 thank you!
@@terryatlerjr6615thank you!
Dope concept
we were spared from whatever the fuck backstage boss was supposed to be.
Plus, the Coup d'etat helped the showmance win BB11. Which no one wants to see.
At least it was Jordan and not Jeff
Camp comeback could’ve worked had they not told the houseguest how many evictions would happen before they did the game to come back bc some people like nick I believe would’ve still risked making the big moves
I liked the battle of the block, but it was definitely too overpowered for alliances. By the time it was over in BB17, the Austwins already had majority influence over the house and could do whatever the hell they wanted.
I love the battle of the block it’s my favorite big brother twist ever… (the first season I ever watched was BB16 so I have a bias)
Camp comeback segment made me really sad
Big brother Canada did something like zombie week in BBCAN9 but it was actually good and in one night
Are there any modifications you could make to Coup de Tat that might be powerful but still allow for some strategy on the opposing part? It actually feels like there's something there.
like for example: Coup de Tat holder has to declare their intention to use it after HoH is won. or maybe, going with the theme, you have to have the vote of half the players to coup the HoH, but if you fail to gain that support you're automatically nominated. something like that
I loved the Battle of the Block. It’s actually one of the best!
I think the worst twist ever is the mvp from bb15
I wish they’d bring back a have and have nots twist and the split house dyre fest twist
Honestly, I would've LOVED if they bring back coup d'etat for BB22 and give it to Janelle or Kaysar.
