GP3 is more track orientated, that’s why you don’t get any boot space or back seats for that matter. It’s even automatic only. For a fairer comparison Mini John Cooper Works with 6 speed manual would be a better choise in my opinion. Great video as always👌
@@JBCTR Or designed from the Rally car down for various types of roads..... GR, even in circuit pack guise, isn't really designed for one dimensional track usage. Yes, it will do a good job but, chances are, it's going to want/need various mods if tracked regularly.
I’d argue the GP3 isn’t that track focused tbh as has a weird regular auto gearbox and is only 25Kg lighter than the GR and only 5kg lighter than a Fiesta ST so isn’t really a hardcore track weapon. I seriously doubt the side blades even offer an aero.
@@mugenmark your clearly not basing your opinion on experience , the Yaris on most tracks in the uk has been considerably slower on times ,even on the nurburgh ring officially its 14 second a lap slower than a gp3 . BTW ive owned both , the Yaris drives far better on the road but it feels nowhere near the event it feels like when your in a gp3 tbh.

The feels so much faster yet more of a handful , I feel you could put your mum in a Yaris and she could drive it fast, takes a good driver to drive a gp3 fast imho. I prefer the uniqueness of the Gp3 , not hard to walk past a Yaris in a supermarket as I did and miss it,the little Yaris looks puny in comparison, just like your mother should be driving it!? 😂
Enjoy watching your vids, keep it going. I've owned a couple of Evo's 5 & 8 in the (distant!) past and thought the days of such brilliant cars had gone some time ago. Fantastic that a small, new generation of equally involving cars like the GR Yaris and slightly i20N now exist.
Always gonna be the GR mate....as we both own one ! As good as the Mini is, Toyota's engineering brilliance is far more superior, as will be the reliability in my opinion! I've only had mine a month and I adore it...not much slower mid range than my previous M140i.....I'd take the GR over my previous FK8 Civic Type R (which I found immensely boring)...and my MK7 Fiesta ST, although fun....the GR is leagues above for me. I'm keeping my GR for the long term....even forever maybe.....I've never had a car that makes me laugh as much as the little GR does ! Love it ! ❤
@@JBCTR I loved my M140i.....a fabulous machine, although handling was dubious! The plan was to keep it for a long time. Then I made the mistake of going for a curious test drive in the GR....which sealed its fate! If I could of kept both i would have. No regrets changing over as much as I loved it
Awesome video Johnny. The GR Yaris, not much can explain really. Toyota have smashed it out the park with it, and think it will be top as a drivers choice for a long time to come.
I have a GR, lambo and an Aston and just bought a lotus Exige 410. The Lotus is insanely good fun superior to the GR in the dry. But in the wet, the GR reigns supreme.
GP3 is, possibly, foolproof until the roads are damp, cold, greasy, or are real roads with variations 😉 Auto with paddles🥱 Those bizarre add on arches look perfect for spiders and webs partially hidden behind 😜

Yeah been in a mate's tuned Mini S manual with 255hp. It was low and felt like 500hp. The ride was so bad my bones hurt lol. I said to him how FAST are you going. 80km to 100km. I laughed and said it feels 150km. Then we drove same speed in GR it was just so comfortable and well easy.😎
If only that GP was equipped with a proper DCT and not that awful automatic, things would weigh a bit towards the mini IMO. Still both cars are splendid
A fair assessment of the two cars …. The Toyota is a masterpiece simply because it is a bespoke model. Door mirrors, lights and badges off the original model and that’s it. It’s like the making of a Frankenstein….. half Yaris half Corolla…. but it’s no horror movie! 👍👏👏
Idk, i grew up driving minis and front wheel drive. I know what upsets the car and what it can work with alongside with upgrades. I still wanna try and test drive a gp.
Love my GR. Especially with its HKS exhaust and DTUK tuning box pushing out over 300bhp it really upsets a lot of owners of considerably more powerful and expensive cars and that’s in the summer months. Can’t wait until the roads turn colder and greasier in the autumn months.

It’s not a hardcore track weapon as isn’t that light (5kg lighter than a regular Fiesta ST and only 25kg lighter than an AWD GR) despite the lack of rear seats and has a weird gearbox. Kind of a mash up of BMW parts. The side winglets aren’t even functional either.
@@mugenmark BMW parts bin special - whilst I'm not a fan of the M135, I'd much rather have that over the Mini, offering the same running gear, yet a far more versatile car, not to mention quicker in all conditions too! Mini can't even sell out the 575 UK examples which peaks volumes, vs the GR which has sold 2500 units with buyers left disappointed having missed out.
I have made few V8 or large cars pissed off so I slow down and they give me EVIL eye. They look at you like your cheating. It's unfair you can launch it full throttle plus light as F--k. Haha so much fun.😎😎

Im not in the market fir either but all i can say is if i were in the market for a hardcore ficused little hot hatchback then the Yaris wins all the time. Usability more of the time is more important than a handful of days where the road condition are perfect

The Yaris I had was great , I felt my mother could drive it fast , in comparison my GP3 is a beast , takes a good drive to drive it fast on the road so I can understand why some drivers/ reviewers much like (JB CTR) felt intimidated by driving it . When I drive the GP3 in comparison to the Yaris I find it more exciting more of a challenge ,is that cause it's faster ? more powerful ? or because the Yaris is just more civilised on the road ? I cant say but the mini for me is the brute, or the Angry Mule as one journalist called it. Also the mini seems and looks more special , its get more attention , ive walked pass my Yaris before in a supermarket and missed it ,is that because the Yaris looks like something your mum would drive !? 🤔lol Their both great cars ,but some of these comparisons are so based on what the blogger owns rather than truth .

The interior on such a car is utterly irrelevant. Consider the interior of Evo's, Scooby's etc etc - it's an homologation drivers car. If you want a jazzy interior go buy a Merc A Class for 50k, if you want a proper drivers car and future classic the GR is the one

Have you thought about taking the back seats out of the Yaris and installing a brace? I wonder how much weight it would save.
25kg. Plus add a light battery as stock one is 19kg and you can get one as low as 2.6kg but over $1000 aus.

Having driven both… the GR is faster in poor conditions. In good conditions, the GP3 is likely faster but in England we rarely have good conditions!
