I am an 89 year old hobbyist and have turned many spindles in building chairs and tables but no bowels. I have learned a lot from your videos and they have inspired me to start trying my hand at bowel turning. Thank you!
Excellent video. Your turning techniques and (photo) explanation is extraordinary. Your new shop, lighting, camera and verbal explanation is the most superb on the Internet. Please keep up your videos. Just when I know "everything" about woodturning (that's a joke), I learn even more from you. THANKS, 'bro!
Great info. It's interesting, I just did this type of 'experiment' the other day with 80 and 320 and burnished bur and only found a significant difference in the aggressiveness, but not much in the finish. I'm still working to get my shear scraping just right and learning how steep an angle is possible on different grain presentations. My very best and God's blessing to you and your family.
I also want thank you for another excellent demonstration and explanation of scraper use on the outside of a bowl. Please can you clarify what angle you address it at the smaller circumferences. To my mind, with the cut directed at centre, the angle of approach can only be in excess of 90 degrees. Or is it because the burr itself is forming the appropriate angle, thereby reducing the probability of a catch? In other words might it be an essential safety requirement to ensure that there is a burr and only a light touch is applied when used flat? The angle is of course different in shear cutting mode. Do carbides in scraping mode also acting on centre get away with no burr because of the very small area of contact and the relatively large mass of shaft and handle? Like many others, I too am looking forward to the availability of your refiner.
That is excellent question and hard to answer like this, I'll try to answer it in video as it will be great topic as its great for beginners. Now in very short, all those angles can confuse but if you raise tool rest way high and try to scrape tgen youll have a catch, if you go really low tgen then you won't do much , especially if using carbide as they are recommended to use flat,to me that is wrong and will produce more damage as there is no burr on carbide that function properly. I could type all day but in video I'll try to explain better😀
Its will be in next video, hope you'll find it interesting, it can be safe but maybe it won't give you results you'll after, but it will be clear in next video
Good morning from NY USA! It's one of my best coffee time, watching you teaching us your knowledge and skills! As you know, I'm learning to drive, not vehicle yet, Christmas is coming, hope the Papa Noel have a room on his sled for a nice lathe, pehaos he hired more reindeer to pull it 😂. What is the nutch on the left side of the scraper for? Also as you keep sharping it do you need to keep increasint the nutch? Thank you!
I just made a box out of walnut..I really struggled with tear out on it. Do you find that walnut is hard to scrape without tear out. Thanks. God Bless.
Perhaps you could install a diesel heater that is used in semi-trucks for your shop. They're efficient, and some create a lot of heat, and there is no danger of fire.
Hmmm interesting, I did not see that feature anywhere, I never sharpen in reverse but logic would tell me its more difficult to control tool if the wheel is trying to lift it.
I have the DML and it is extremely good. Not sure if you pointed out that it runs slower? The only problem I had was that I had a stone wheel matched with a CBN and as it ground down, the balance went out and vibrated terribly. I put a new stone wheel on and it is ok. It may do the same again, time will tell. The other problem was the cheaper (though perfectly good) jigs I have wouldn't fit per instructions without taking the guards off the wheels. I would recommend though. Expensive and very heavy, but very pleased. Funnily enough, the Record Power was my second choice.
Hmm interesting, I have cbn's on it so it should be ok balance wise, and for jigs I only can use Veritas tool rest or this wolverine as I don't have much space behind it. Like you said its awsome machine and I like it a lot.😀 Thank you for watching
I love the way you adress the OSHA soldiers out there! 😂😂It's My way or the highway! We all should know our limitations and use the God's gave best tool; The Common sense !❤🕊
@@DancingFox6Sorry, Google is not my best friend when comes to write English, it's not my native language. Thank you for the kind words, I'm always listening and learning! Be well!
Thanks Tomislav, for providing a good insight into scrapers. My compliments on your use of the english language! Excellent instructor! Top notch!
Thank you very much, I try my best 😀
We discussed your refiner tool and your teaching , your thoroughness - great care and attention to detail.
@nelsonpalmer4831 thank you, hopefully all good😀😀

Thank you Tomislav, another informative video. I have a 180 G CBN wheel and it works well with all my tools. 😊
As always very great advice and tips …… Thank you Tomislov 🤠🇨🇱
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge with us, another good tutorial once again.
You're such a wonderful teacher.....thank s for all that you do.

Thank you so much, that is basically my result's as well😄
It seems to me that your getting a better cut with the cbn wheels, good iforormational video thanks
Good info. I prefer the cbn wheels after all of my experiments. I just find them easier to deal with and definitely less messy.
🕶Excellent video Tomislav. Very helpful. Thanks

Great study tomislov , can you show how you do the notch on the refiner?
I have it on several videos about sharpening, but I'll do it again on launching refiner
Lots of great information. Thank you.
Another great demonstration.! Was wondering if converting a wood chisel into a scraper would be safe? Thanks!
Its will be in next video, hope you'll find it interesting, it can be safe but maybe it won't give you results you'll after, but it will be clear in next video
Superbe installation ! Bravo et toujours d intéressantes vidéos , ou en étés vous de le commercialisation de vos outils ? Bonne journée

Depending on type of walnut, any wood that likes to scrape can have odd piece where grain isn't cooperating, but in most cases walnut scrape ok

Thanks for solid suggestion, I don't mind cold, but I do need to prepare myself for it better like with gloves 😄
Great video! I can use my grinder in reverse or forward. Which way do you think would be better? Take care and GOD BLESS 🙏🏻!
Hmmm interesting, I did not see that feature anywhere, I never sharpen in reverse but logic would tell me its more difficult to control tool if the wheel is trying to lift it.
@tomislavtomasicwoodturning I'm sorry I should've said it's a low speed wet wheel grinder
@stephendonathan6782 I think there won't be benefits to go reverse, its much easier when tool is on rest and wheel is pushing it on the rest

Can you recommend a cbn wheel brand and grit that is available in the states?
I think craft supplies sells them and also woodturning wonders, both have everything for sharpening

Don’t miss the CBN wheels from D-Way Tools. I let a pair of WTW wheels go cheap to replace them with the new ones. THEY’RE BETTER!
@Ethan-pb3jq thank you ,I haven't thought of d way
I know it’s not hard, or long, but can you burnish a scraper during a video please?
I will for launching refiner, and I have couple of videos where I do that, but soon I'll do new one😀
