When you land the fish even though they fought hard your leader when drying the fly was always at right angles the the fly ? How do you tie it to sit like that.? Cheers good video.
Great video Alec as per mate , I wonder if you could help me mate, I was at The Lake of Mentieth on Saturday and believe it or not it was totally flat calm all over for the size of it 😅 but I couldn’t get my nylon to sink and thought it was scaring the rising fish. Have you any pointers mate. All the best from Bonnie Dumfries and Galloway ❤
Hi James , were you fishing dries ??when it's glassy calm , you can put a small nymph on a dropper and have the dry fly on the point , the dropper fly will sink your leader no problem. You can also buy leader sink which you can rub on your tippet and again this will sink it in calm conditions 👍🎣🐟
😂 Just finished your video pal , I’d watched half at my lunch break and asked you the above question , 😂😂😂 I’ve watched it all now and of course you answered my query👏👏👏 love your vids mate, get another one on tommorrow 😂😜👌👌👌
Great video Alec; may I ask what leader you use please? make and strength for the size 16 shuttlecock and also do you use fullers earth to make it sink?
Hi Alec loved the video what a great session not so often we get days like that, Happy days well worth the trip from the north east incidentally how long was the drive. Looking forward to the next one 👍🎣
Hi mate, fly fished on and off since I was a bairn but starting to get serious with it, what dries would you recommend for this time of year as well as the coming months? Any pointers welcomed :)
There are lots of dries Sam that will work from now until autumn . Top hat suspender buzzers, cdc suspender buzzers, daddies, beetles , Nothing flies , F flies , Shipman's. Popper hoppers, they all have days when you will catch plenty fish 👍🎣🐟
One more question - where would you recommend purchasing them from? I believe most lads tie their own but if you do know anywhere that would be great. I live in South Shields
2nd one I've whatched Alec, and picking up some good pointers. The kitchen paper so simple and very effective. Arthur.
It works great , and it's cheap 👍🎣🐟

I normally use a Davy knot on my small dries , but you still have to check the fly after catching fish to make sure your happy with it 👍🎣🐟

I use 6lb soft plus , if you get refusals you can go lighter if the fishery allows, and yes use mud on the leader 4ft from the fly .🎣🐟
