Definitely get a splitter with a log lift. Save your back when you get that massive tree service wood. A 90 cc saw would also help you out when it comes time to break down that big wood.
I agree a log lift is now a must for me. My log lift moved to college 😂 As far as the saw I’m probably not gonna make that purchase because I’m simply not wanting tree service wood this big! I wanna have an excuse why not to bring me wood this big😂 Thanks for watching Mike👊🏻
@@toddsoutsideagain Think your making right call on big tree service wood w/all the crotches. You would need a 084 or larger power head & at least 4' or 4.5' bar to break down the big stuff & you wind up w/lot of hard to stack odd ball firewood. W/your son in college you might go a little smaller & more efficient, your call
I agree, appearances everything I wish I would’ve researched a little bit better before I bought my rugged made for a little bit more money. I could’ve got the 22 RS.
Well I’m grateful to have this opportunity to run these demo units for my own research and to share it with the viewers! You got a nice splitter. You know what they say The Grass is always greener” I will say that 22Rs is very appealing! I appreciate ya watching Tom👊🏻
Like your new wheelbarrow, always room for 1 or 2 wheelbarrows in firewood game. One of my hobbies is repairing them when I can find them for 15-20 bucks. I hope w/your son in college you downsize a little so you dont beat yourself up too much w/him in college. Doubt if he will want to do much firewoodin if he visits on breaks. Hope you mechanize as much as you can to save wear & tear on your body, your call. Have a good one
Hello Dan. A second wheel barrow was a good choice😂 Yeah I will be slowing down a bit so it remains enjoyable. I’m not getting any younger and my everyday job already is strenuous enough. I’m probably not going to advertise at all this fall and just keep up with the firewood stand. I appreciate ya watching and commenting 👊🏻
Well I don’t plan on letting this tree service dump this much huge stuff again! I’ve got it all cleaned up for the most part. Got some big logs to buck up and more splitting to do. We will have to get together sometime. Thanks for watching Ted👊🏻
Yeah Russ, I’m not gonna lie if you have uneven ground it is a little bit of a struggle to move it but at least you can. That is very important to me without having equipment to move the wood to the splitter. Thanks for watching Russ👊🏻
You are the 1st message sent out since my incident think I on the mend haha anyway hope get back on the lives of Dan n Brad did watch this past Thursday and Friday of them both just not ready to respond
Being able to move the splitter to the wood is a huge benefit for sure. You definitely got your work cut out for ya, but a lot of good firewood and the 28 Pro will make it quick. Take care my friend
Yes I am finding huge benefits in each splitter! This 28 pro is borderline moveable by hand but on relatively flat ground it’s doable! Thanks for watching Bobby👊🏻🥃
Yeah, I’m not gonna lie still a heavy made splitter so relatively flat ground would be a must for pulling it around by hand. I still like the fact that I can move it 4 to 5 feet if I need to by hand. Thanks for watching Matt👊🏻
Great little machine got everything you need a log lift to me was most important. I spent the extra money got higher tonnage machine because the wood I get. Great work. Stay cool.
Yes it is! I really think that for the money and what you get on the 28Pro, if it was about an 8 1/2 second cycle time, nobody would out sell that splitter! Thanks for watching Dan👊🏻
It's amazing watching you with your operation because it is so similar to mine. I have no tractors or lifting equipment and have no intention on adding them to my operation. I rely upon my splitters, saws, wheelbarrows, small utility trailer, garbage cans, pallets and pallet jack, canopy, tarps, an atv, and whatever I can get my hands on to get the work done. Amazing how much I use the single wedge for various reasons. Best wishes on your splitter search!
Well as you know Bill, some say we are doing it the hard way, but it’s all we got. Seem to always find a way of getting it done! I was out all day working but the weather was nice and I truly enjoyed it! Thanks for watching 👊🏻
Some really nice oak splits Todd. That barbq customer is sure getting some quality stuff 👌🏻 Really good score on the wheelbarrow. Have a good Labor Day
Yes he is! I don’t think he can find splits like this in my area for the price. He came and looked at our firewood before he opened his restaurant. I think he liked what he seen😂 Thanks for watching and hope yall had a good weekend as well Brandon👊🏻
I do alot of bundle wood smoking wood and pizza wood I have a 28c once I took the 4 way wedge off and ran the single I never put it back I do mostly rounds 20+ in diameter
Yeah I have always been a fan of single wedge. That’s what I’m use to as well. I’m betting even when I upgrade splitters I will use single wedge 85% of the time. Thanks for watching Shawn👊🏻
I think the single wedge is perfect for the bundle wood and that 4 way for your bulk. You're getting an idea what you need by using these demos. Great perspective. Have a great holiday today
Yes I’m probably 85% of the time going to be using a single wedge on whatever splitter I choose. I just like the splits they produce! It works for our operation. Thanks for stopping by Jerry👊🏻
Another great video! Now I see what my problem has been in mkaing bundle wood with my 28C. Am splitting small logs. Too small to make good bundle wood. Well, am working with the logs that I have. I need bigger rounds to make great bundle wood. Hard to make great bundle wood with rounds 6-8in diameter.
Get lucky on marketplace every now and then😂 I have put about 19 hours in this splitter and I’m getting real comfortable with it now. Thanks for watching Robert👊🏻
Hey, Todd. Not too often, I get a chance to make small square splits, it's usually furnace wood. But it's satisfying when I do make them. You are so lucky to have the opportunity to run different splitters and share your experiences.
Yeah it’s sure satisfying to make nice uniform splits😂 I have a great opportunity with these splitters. I’m learning and sharing as I go! Thanks for watching Kenny👊🏻
The quality splits you get from a single knife is hard to beat for making bundle grade and in under a min you can put a 4 way on and be making bulk . Ya got the best of both worlds right there Todd and it’s easily moved around .
Yeah I really want to be in the Vertical platform but for now I should probably stick with a Horizontal so I can take it to the wood easier! If I had a tractor I know what I would have! Thanks for watching Phil👊🏻
Morning Todd , nice splitting . Being so use to a single wedge , I believe the 22 RS with the log lift would do me great . I would like one in the white or I seen Bob using a OD green splitter the other day . 👍🏻🇺🇸
Yeah I think we’re on the same page Del. If I was to go with the 22rs I would go with log lift and would run a single wedge a lot of the time. Thanks for watching 👊🏻🇺🇸
Yeah as you know I have always been a fan of the single wedge! That wall of rounds has grown. I did that just for Mike at KNL😂 Thanks for watching Jeremiah👊🏻🍻
The 4 way can be effectively used as a huge time saver even making bundle grade/ pretty splits especially on some of these "slow" cycle time higher tonnage machines. If you have the time check out some of the older outside with sheibe video's with his rugged made and how he made the 4 way work to his advantage. Helped me speed up tremendously.
Yeah i wouldn’t argue that! I just came in from using the 4 way on some straight grained red oak and I was making some pretty splits! Definitely speeds it up to use the 4way as long as the wood is straight grained. Thanks for watching 👊🏻
Right-on TO(DD), That's the splitter I want, when and if that time comes. wolfe ridge is the one in my eye. Hey did you catch back 40's vid??? That prosesor looked pretty cool. I'm still a big wolfe ridge fan. Stay cool brother, and keep pushin' on. Peace from Cabañas Los Peñas, Rochivo Creel Chihuahua, Mexico...
It is a very nice splitter Gringo! I think that if the splitter was about an 8 1/2 second cycle time theres not a manufacturer out there that would touch the sales it would get😂 lotta good brands out there, but I’m partial to the Wolfe Ridge lineup! Thanks for watching👊🏻
Yes a cool down here for us as well. I have been busy today trying to beat this tree service drop! No SITTING around for me😂 Thanks for watching Larry👊🏻
Todd ,a single wedge will always give you more quality less slash . nice job on the splits looks pleasing to the eye.🙂Box wedges give you some quality but tons of slash.
Yeah, no matter what I end up with I think I will be splitting with a single wedge about 80% of the time. I just really like the splits a single wedge produces. Thanks for watching.👊🏻
Well not as fast as that big blue SHO but it is a real nice splitter for sure. A size variety in splits is a good thing. Especially when loading a stove. Thanks for watching Daniel👊🏻
I just scored some big oak this weekend l had to cut it down into quarters just to lift it in my truck. It was very green wood. So now it's time for you to keep the money for yourself since your doing all the work right.
Yeah oak is some heavy stuff. I still noodle it in quarters even with the log lift. Well Evan did hand the keys over to me but I’m not sure what I’m going to do with the firewood money? I might just stockpile it for my kids a good starter kit when they graduate college! Thanks for watching Kevin👊🏻
Nice splitting. If I was gonna mainly use the single wedge on horizontal splitter, I’d be looking at the 17RS . Cause it’s faster cycle time and stilll comes with log lift.
Yeah I hear ya. That 17 RS and even the 22 RS is on my radar for sure! Faster cycle time is definitely a plus on single wedge splitting! Thanks for watching 👊🏻
Good morning . That splitfire 4409 I got sure is helping me with the big rounds . Then so much less work to Finnish on the 28C . Mine sure don’t seem as easy to move as you came out with yours .
Yeah I bet it definitely helps to bust the biggins down first! I’m not gonna lie. You have to have relatively flat ground to move this 28Pro by hand! It’s definitely not the lightest splitter out there. In my situation you can as long as ya keep the debris cleaned up. Thanks for watching 👊🏻
Well I think I’ve already made my decision. I have two in mind. We will continue to run some demo units for the viewers to learn just like I’m learning and we will see how it goes this fall. I appreciate ya watching and commenting Ryan 👊🏻
I can definitely relate to the grassroots path to growing a firewood side hustle. When the bottom falls out that fine piece of heavy equipment metal roofing and roofing screws do wonders. I had extra from the last hurricane. 😂
Yeah I hear ya! Vertical is definitely the way to go for pretty wood! That vertical I had on loan was sold and that’s what I’m doing this demo program for. Norm helps me with the opportunity to run great splitters and my channel helps people find him. I would someday when the money is right love to have a vertical. Thanks for watching James👊🏻
If your running stove wood then an 8 way is the way to go.. if your a bundle and need perfect splits then an upright is the way.. if you don't mind the mess then a 7 way box wedge is right for you..
Yeah, I agree. If you’re just pushing heating wood through and stacking it deep a multiple wedge is definitely the way to go. In my case single wedge or four-way is about the most I would do. 70 to 80% of what we sell is either sold in bundles or through the Firewood stand or to restaurant customer and I just like the better more uniform splits. That’s why they make so many different splitters. Everyone has a different operation. Thanks for watching 👊🏻
