If I may ask, how long does the driveway finish last? I know it depends on traffic but is this something you need done every year per say?
Your right it does depend on traffic, it can also depend on the slope of the driveway, and of course the weather, and of course how much gravel is already there. Typically gravel driveways require regular maintenance. I usually do my own personal driveway once every year or every other year.

I'm glad to see someone posting about their TR3. I just bought one this past Dec and will be posting Videos but i also bought the TR3E Property Edition a year earlier. I LUV Them both but cant keep them both. I also installed a Hydraulic Top Link on my 1025R to squeeze more performance out of that TR3 or should i say to help limit my on-off-on trips from the drivers seat to the rear of the tractor and back again!

I think I understood that you can use the rippers as a stand alone tool. Such as ripping a pasture?
I have used it for some small pastures and food plots. I don’t think it would be my first choice for just ripping up a pasture. But rather a tool that can be used for lots of things. One of those being pasture restoration.
Regarding the tires on the tractor. Do you like the ag tires. How do you think the reason tires would work? Thanks.
I think if I were to purchase the tractor again. I would go with the R4 tires. More versatile
Thank you very much for this video! I have been studying a lot about gravel road restoration and aggregates in hopes of starting up a business like yours.
I don't have much capital and can't afford a TR3 and tractor yet, so my plan is to start with a ABI Gravel Grader (that I bought used) it is ABI's bottom of the line ATV / Lawnmower attachment. I plan to start with residential driveways. It may take me a little longer to grade the driveways with this setup, but I'm willing to put in the work.
If I may ask, how long does the grade last on a normal use driveway and do you have your customers on a maintenance plan based on driveway use? Or how do you explain to your customers that gravel will hardpan again and pot holes can appear again with time, in hopes to keep their businesses and referrals?

I have another video about the business side of the tractor business you might check out if you haven’t. But all in all anyone who has had a gravel driveway knows that they require regular maintenance. After seeing what the cost of new gravel is vs regular maintenance, most of my customers called me back every year for a quick grading. I highly suggested to my customers that they try to do it once a year for regular maintenance. I received many regular customers this way. Also, I did have a few customers that their driveways were really rough and may require gravel even after I finished. Even if they did have to get gravel they would still need to get the base corrected because the new gravel would end up the same way. In these situations by repairing the base level the final cost of grading and gravel was far cheaper than other estimates to completely tear out the driveway and redo it.

Great video! About how long would the gravel driveway be that you charge around $300?
There are a lot of factors that go into to that other than just length. If it’s just a straight shot, not very wide, and in good condition. Than quite a long one. But I might charge the same for a short that was in really bad condition. I more so consider how long will this take me.
What pin hole do you set the blade? So it does not pull a large amount of gravel. I had the tr3 e. Just sold it. Not heavy duty enough. I’m looking at this one. I could not pus soil in reverse. Comb bent
For the large blade. If I didn’t want to pull any soil or gravel, I would set it at the highest pin on the blade and the lowest pin on the 3rd point. This would keep the rake at the best angle to keep just the back rake on the ground. Of course it does depend on how high the dirt pile is. I would say at that setup you can get about 6 inches off the ground with the big blade.
You'd probably get better results if you watered down that driveway some and then let it dry for a couple of days let that water soak in and hit it with the tractor powered rototiller.
Thanks for watching and the comment. I have done exactly that before with my tiller. It can work really well. However, a lot of the driveways I’ve done have a lot of baseball to basketball size rocks in them. Which is really hard on my tiller.
How does this rake work for light roots 2-6 inches deep and loose sticks?
I’ve used it for a final clearing of an area where there used to be a lot underbrush of small bushes. I worked backwards using the back rake for the roots and it worked really well. I just set the angle where it would go about an inch underground and it popped the roots right out. Some of the roots would get stuck in there but typically would come right out when you drag forward. Thanks for the comment and watching.
@@randomlikes Thanks for the quick reply. I thought maybe those adjustable rippers would help with the smaller roots? And does the loose debris accumulate sort of like a typical landscape rake?
@dustindavid5094 yes you could use the ripper teeth to. I just found that you get a better bite with the back rake. If you lock down the middle blade then it works more like a box blade or rake were it will accumulate kind of like a typical landscape rake.
After watching your video, I have been complaining starting a business using this attachment. I have figured out my expected costs but wondering how you charge? I was thinking a base fee than by the square foot. Any advice your will to give?
Starting any business is hard. It really depends on your location and the need in your area. I started doing other things with my tractor like tilling gardens and brush hog work. When doing this, I would ask my customers what else they needed. The majority of the time it was restore my gravel driveway or some sort of dirt work. I found the machine that did both. But I did a lot of research and had 10 driveways lined up at the average $300 each before I pulled the trigger. I appreciate your comment and think I will do a follow up video on this.

I can say that I started with test subjects while I built my own skill set. When I started it was $60/hour. When I increased my efficiency I found that $100/hour was fair.

My 5.5' TR3 with the Optional Extended Rear Rake Teeth was $5k Delivered Dec22 (bought it 2 months before price shifted up) I later bought the rock sifting teeth for the Leveling Blade at $700 and another $400 for the Profile Blade. Keep in mind, mine is smaller than the one in this video😬🥴 I have the Hydraulic top link which I bought when I had the TR3e even though it is not needed for the TR3e, it helps A Lot!!!
If I had to do it all over again..... I would have bought the TR3 Instead of the TR3e although both are Great Tools.

I don't see how this is doing anything different than a land plane with scarafiers.
I’ve tried a land plane before. They do work really well. For me this just had a few more options. I like the rake in the back. Especially for preparing dirt for seed. Thanks for commenting
IDK why rear-blades aren't more popular. You're actually not suppose to want lose rocks on the surface of your drive b/c they're not good for traction. Your State has a training video on maintaining the 50% of roads that are dirt or gravel. You want a 4% slope & you want the materials mixed together with some moisture. I don't understand why there is still a box-blade culture when we all have front loaders now.

How does having a front end loader regrade a driveway? Super poorly that’s how. It’s great for spreading new gravel but rear implements like this one are great for regrading driveways.
@@paybax The loader is to move material that the rear-blade piles up. I just think box-blades are obsolete if you have a loader & rear-blade. YT has way too many driveway videos of people doing it exactly opposite to how the State maintains the 50% of roads that are dirt or gravel.
@@SlackerU Oh I see what you mean. Well it’s because they can cut and a tractor is very poor as depth adjustment. Running a rear blade flipped around or in reverse is decent tho. A blade with gauge wheels would be nice tho. And they have those rear blade with hydraulic wings on the end, even better lol
@@paybax A compacted gravel road can be reshaped without gauge wheels or hydraulics. Most standard maintenance on dirt & gravel roads is moving/roll-mixing the small rain-washed materials from the edges back into the 4% crown. Watch your States training video, they're all the same. If you don't have compaction & moisture then you wait until you do.
