so happy for you to be able to do this work - attachment reminds me of a hair comb - now we just need to buy a big honkin' tractor and all the different attachments... have a great rest of the year!
I have several sections of railroad track that are bolted to 2X12s. I have four that are chained together in a chevron fashion. Once’s or twice a year I pull them along all my roads and trains. Works like a champ
I bought a set of used 8 foot disc's for $400 and used them on my back lane and it looks the same as what that machine did. Then I just back dragged it with my loader. I don't have the money to afford an awesome unit like this, because our dictator Trudeau has taxed the hell out of all us Canadians.
Thanks for the video! I use a dingo with a land leveler and if you articulate the level just right its like a giant hula ho. I do believe backpack blowing away as much debris as possible, and in stages, is key to long term weed control.
If you look on Craigslist or market place you can find a TR3 pretty cheap like $1500. Check out some of my other videos on TR3 and SR3. They may help you.
Something I've noticed is that adding gypsum (Calcium Sulphates) and/or anhydrite to gravel arrests most plant growth. Locally to me are closed open pit mines from the 1960's which are still free of grass in 2024 except where inches to feet of clay soil were added. Away from the gypsum everything grows as normal if not better!
Super nice attachment. Would like to see the track loader one also for myself. Just got a t62 so this would be a great tool to have. Thanks for show and demonstration!! Dave.
If that blade is what I believe a serrated edge on a bucket it may skim the surface but not get you the results your looking for. If the material is loose you may drag it and if it's too hard you won't get penetration. You can try and see. You have nothing to lose. Good luck. Thanks for watching.
Doesn’t the wheel height set the height right as opposed to raising the top link? Good video. I love the TR3 as well as the SR3 for my skidsteer. I got the TR3 because I was tired of driving backwards for my very long driveway and other roads.
I find that the wheels help with depth control or you offset each side if you were to make a crown in the driveway. The hydraulic top link controls the angle of the comb, scar fires, and floating leveling blade quickly from the cab. Once you're in the right position you won't need to mess with it unless you change what you doing. If you don't have one for your tractor you should get one. Works great on many pieces of equipment besides the TR3. You won't ever use the manual top link again. Thanks for the input.
I think that the hydraulic top link works on many pieces of equipment. That's all I use. Great for rotary mowers, tillers, box scrapers, etc. one you have one you'll never use the manual one. The TR3 is always an adjustment game depending on what your doing so the hydraulic top link is the way to go. If your referring to a landscape rake is the one with all the tines it would scratch the surface and rip out some grass but would not have any penetration into a hard surface or and depth. It would move around loose gravel and level is where they shine. I hope I answered your questions. Thanks for watching.
Thanks. I didn’t know there were those big rippers on the front of it until I watched another one of your videos. I think I’d be a little afraid to use that on my driveway because there is landscape fabric beneath the gravel. Thanks for the video!
I achieve similar results with a simple 7’ scraper blade on my tractor. I built some boxes to sit on top of the blade and put a couple hundred pounds of rocks in for enough weight to work. I need only 4 passes - 2 with blade cutting and 2 with it spun around backwards to smooth it. Maybe another up and back if too much stone is still gathered in the crown.
I think there are a lot of variables and lots of different equipment will give you certain results. I don't know what depth you would get with a land planer. Box scrapers generally drag gravel but don't really penetrate driveways that are compacted like concrete. But both tools will move material around and kill some vegetation and level the driveway. I would try it and see if it works or not. That's why I like that TR3. It levels, tears up compacted areas, and moves material all at once . I used to use a box scraper. It just didn't perform like I wanted. Regardless, something is better than nothing.
There is probably someone in your area that has the equipment to do it for a fee. Might be your best option. Gravel drives are constant maintenance. That's the catch. Just a thought. Good luck.
For 25-ft, I'd just get a propane weed burning torch. I used one for a couple years on my 125-ft driveway, but I ended up getting a landscaping rake for my tractor.
Can you give some more details on the TR3 - like who makes it? Do they have a website etc? - I'd like to have a better understanding of how it works. Nice job by the way.
Made by ABI Attachments. They have a website. I have several other videos on my channel and on a playlist going over both the TR3 and SR3. Check them out. Thanks for compliment.
To some degree but in fairness these are two different attachments. I started with a box scrapper and found this TR3 does a little bit more for my needs. I still own my box scraper but never use it. I did a lot with my box scraper. It took a beating. Thanks for your input.
I have built a grader from heavy gauge pipe attached to 3 ×2 foot wide steel plate 1 inch thick and mounted it to my lawn tractor it works great on my driveway or for level ground
Just about everybody has a water softener, so all you have to do is collect the brine that is discharged from your water softener, take that Brine and spread it to soak the road and nothing will ever grow there. If next year something does start to grow again, soak it with more brine!
Northern Ohio. It was a 50 degree morning in the beginning of June when I made this video. We had a cold front. The hoody was not on for very long. You're the second person who asked this. It isn't always warm and sunny in the mornings or late at night where I live. I wish it was.
Probably Ohio. We only have 2 and a half months of Summer. Summer here begins late June and ends middle of September. Rest of the year is cold, wind, rain & snow or ice. I live by Lake Erie
I think the combination of this tool and chemicals is the ticket. If no chemicals you'll need to go over it a lot because they will keep coming back. That's just how it goes. Thanks for the input.

Never really seen an attachment like that. Works fantastic.
It can do lots of stuff. Makes it very versatile.

When are you making a change over there? If we don't we will be like you guys. I am hope we change. It can't be soon enough.
So true 😢
Both sad but true. So sick of JT and scared for our brothers down south
Thanks for the video! I use a dingo with a land leveler and if you articulate the level just right its like a giant hula ho. I do believe backpack blowing away as much debris as possible, and in stages, is key to long term weed control.
Just gotta stay on these gravel driveways. They can turn into a mess fast. Thanks for your feedback.
Zaterans dry crab boil seasoning, diluted in hot water add a little extra salt and vinegar, apply with sprayer. kills weeds dead.
I like the centre grass in the laneway with clean ruts
Nice demonstration. I checked out your profile and it looks like you've created some good content. I subscribed and will watch more as time permits.
Thanks I appreciate it. Hopefully you will enjoy it and get something positive from it.
I had no idea there was an implement like that. Works great! Nice job! Was considering a land plane but now I'm going to check out the TR3.

@@BradKemp62 Thanks for the tip!
I don't understand why you're bothering. When I was a kid all of our roads on the farm were grass covered. No giant dust clouds in the summer.
My ex & her family were polish.
We’d say Nah zdrov-e-yay!
Nice driveway
Or in Italian nicea-drive-away
Ordered one, should arrive Tuesday.

Let me know how you like it. You can do a lot with it. Once you learn how to use it you can easily do side jobs.

Thanks for watching and thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it.
I wonder if I could use my pirana blade on my deere 420 garden tractor l. I have a spot by my house in town by the main road. Thanks

I'd not think to zig zag. I"m going to try that. Thanks!
It makes a difference. Let me know how it works out.

I use an 8' box blade on driveway. Works great!!
When you have something that works for you that's all that matters. Enjoy!!!
How important is the hydraulic top link? Would a landscape rake do something similar?

@@nates2526 I have fabric on my drive. Just don't need to go too deep. That's the trick
could you do that with a land plane or box blade?

I Love my TR3!!! Thanx for posting video!
I figured you would like it. Lol. I got more coming.
@@BradKemp62I can’t wait! I need to drop some more myself
Round up and 2-4D always works for me
Can't argue with that. Got to stop it from growing.
lol chemical warfare
Why do you have a coat on in 90 degree weather?
Wasn't 90 degrees that morning. That was just before the heat wave.
That is too cool. Driveway and runoff ditch maintenance is a nightmare.
I totally agree
Isn’t that a box blade with the “fingers” on the back?
No. They are similar but very different. You can do more with the TR3 than a box blade.
I use a old drag that was built a long time ago. But I have a small drive.
Got to use what ever it takes to get the job done.
My driveway is 25 feet long, I don't have a tractor. How do I get the weeds and grass out of my driveway?
There is probably someone in your area that has the equipment to do it for a fee. Might be your best option. Gravel drives are constant maintenance. That's the catch. Just a thought. Good luck.
You can also spray with vinegar or a bleach solution for a relatively safe herbicide.
@@AlanKaufer Thanks, I've tried vinegar and dish soap...doesn't work all that well.
Pool salt the entire driveway. Fairly cheap and easy to apply with a fertilizer spreader. Yearly application would likely be required.

Do they make something like that for a John Deere riding mower? If not they should.
They make small ones for 4 wheelers. Check out ABI attachments and see what they have. It may work for you.
I have built a grader from heavy gauge pipe attached to 3 ×2 foot wide steel plate 1 inch thick and mounted it to my lawn tractor it works great on my driveway or for level ground
Having a tool that you can rely on is all that counts. Makes life a lot easier.
Good post, good review!
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Why remove the grass?
I just use my landscape rake
I used to do the same along with a box scraper.
Good video! Good info. thanks
Thank you. Glad you liked it.
I have a grooved driveway. No tractor, no attachments. 😢
If it's working for you then no worries.
I would be introducing grass to my driveways not removing it. Vegetation will hold the stones and dirt in place.
I understand your logic. All depends on what you want.
I can’t grow grass on my lawn, hard to see grass growing on a driveway🤯
It's kinda like as you get older, hair grows in places you don't want.

That brine discharge is calcium chloride which pulls moisture out of the air. It is a great dust control solution.
Yeah buddy; everybody has that piece of equipment sitting around on their property. 🤔
Where are you that you are still wearing a sweater in June? :-)

I need to remove grass and weeds from my seashell driveway
Good job. Wish I had some money to spare. Maybe I can find something to rent.
Thanks. I appreciate it.
Goats!
Lol. I don't know about that one!
There is no reason to remove the grass
Need tool!, i like having gates let sheep/cow eat all grass they can..less mowing/ work for me 😂
I agree with that!!!
Not all of all us have a tractor tho lol
I use chemicals.

Split yur tracks everytime . 😮 no grass . Problem solved lol or buy a kid a four wheeler. 😮 and keep crown on the road. 😮
Your right. Stay on every part of that gravel roadway and grass will be managed. That’s the key.
Stupid waste of time for the 90% of those that don't have a $60,000 tractor to do this.
man, you talk a lot
