I was passed over for a promotion. About four months later, I was selected for a job that pays 20K more than what I was picked over for. The universe always delivers in your favor, when it's supposed to.

I remember when one of my buddies got passed up for a promotion in the oilfield. He was a Driller and worked hard over the years to learn everyone's jobs. He wanted a promotion to a Toolpusher position. They gave the Toolpusher jobs to people's family members and buddies instead. He got so tired of it and realized this wasn't working, so he quit the drilling company and went to a different drilling company and got a Toolpusher job. He then worked his way to the top and is now a Company Man for the oilfield.

Forget about promotions; jump jobs every couple/few years for significant raises. Never show loyalty to an organization, ever.

I’ve had something similar happen to me recently and I have no desire to let this company make me feel inferior. Life is too short to be in crummy situations. Luckily, I have a very supportive husband and family. Move on!!

I have an answer - there was a New Sheriff in town - somehow the powers that be in this callers organization decided to hire a NEW Sheriff - that Sheriff decided he/she wants to bring in a bunch of new deputies. The caller was either the old Sheriff or a key old deputy. The new Sheriff probably made a deal with the powers that be that he/she wants to being in someone they "trust". So the caller got shuffled to the side on what he thinks is a remedial role. What the caller didn't answer was did he have to take a pay cut? if so well - I think this is a shot across his bow to get another job. If he didn't get a pay cut then - stay there - I guarantee that you will like your job better because it will be less stressful and less time consuming if he is only centered in on one thing. As far as someone telling you you are a Christian and serve - well let me say that just cause a place says not for profit - that does not mean you or they work without a pay check. If the caller didn't get a pay cut and can tough it out it may be "fun" to watch and see what happens - a fly on the wall so to speak.

if you try for promotions , you set yourself up for dissapointment , i dont try at all , i sit back and wait to be told what to do , when to do it and how to do it , thats it , nothing could be simpler , and i give 100 percent to what i am doing .

This caller has zero self awareness or accountability. When asked repeatedly why he was being demoted all he could guess was that it may have something to do with leadership above him being changed. But something tells me there is a lot more to it than that.

Yeah, like it's really that easy especially with today's cost of living. He quits and can't find another job and bills pile up. Some people have it easy but most don't and are stuck and aren't appreciated. It's mostly nepotism with promotions anyway

The question to be asked is, were you involved in the discussion with new leadership on the the program merger? If not, you have to find out why you weren't brought inside on the discussion, instead of being just informed of the change.

I was just told that I'm not ready so that means a new person will be my boss, Asking me questions and getting trained by me. And if they are anything like past ones who were fired, Ill be forced watching the place get rundown again like it was when I started. It's the trap upper invisible mgnt sticks you in because you are good at what you do. The story of my life. Instead of having another nervous break down after this happened at my last job, I will update my resume and move on. Hopefully up

ALL OF THIS LABOR that guy gave to that institution, TIME out of his life he can never get back and your solution is for him to go home with his tail between his legs.... smh... Not even to negotiate on what he has already given? No voice? No debate or discussion with management? No say so about what he created in exchange for the wage? So in exchange for making a steady paycheck, his only option is to leave if he's not comfortable with what management decides that he should do with his labor? This is why Americans can't have nice things. You have to run it by the boss first, and if you think he may not like it, go home with your tail between your legs. Cry to your wife or suffer in silence until you find somewhere else where you can feel needed... True shame.

The guys giving advice got off topic, they didn't offer a neutral point of view. The caller sounds burnt out.. like he needs to delegate tasks and also renew his mindset and approach to current social/individual's needs and ways to tackle them. I bet he hasn't taken any courses or upgraded his knowledge/skills in a long time. You need to evolve in order to stay in the race my friend.
