Shaker Table Separating Copper from Car Shred Waste Using a Hammer Mill for Crushing

A customer set us a sample of remains after processing wire scrap. It contained small pieces of copper, plastic coated copper, rocks, glass and other miscellaneous materials. After running the material through the hammer mill we used the shaker table to get the copper out of waste.

Wow Jason very impressive. You took that bucket of useless trash and separated it into mostly copper metal and the leftover sandy mix looked like it could be added to cement and used that way instead of wasting it. Makes me wonder if running 20 year old trash dug up at the dump through that machine would be a possible money maker. Have a great day.

In theory, yes. In practice, you will lose your shirt from getting held responsible for every promise the previous company broke. Decades of waste leaking into the water table will be tested, now that there is someone to blame other than the previous company and government officials that let it slide for easy money. Radioactive junk and things that are prohibited from being there will shut you down, at your expense, while your products are now un-sellable.
But whatever was able to break down will now be reduced in size, leaving the more robust materials concentrated for separation. You'll have to come up with a plan for what to do with the air, water, and things you don't sell though, as those will all be considered polluted, unless you too keep the chain of corruption intact.

I like the concept of sorting on a water table. Question: what is done with the wastewater afterwards? I'm assuming there is extensive leachate from this process once you are finished.

I see there is a mix of 3 different metals in the number 1 port steel copper and brass wonder if there is a way to separate the brass from the copper any suggestions?

We do not sell the copper. We are a industrial machinery manufacturer, this was just a sample a customer had sent us to see if the copper could be separated from all the other waste material.
