If you want a method that doesn’t use chemicals and doesn’t risk scratching your tank, use apple cider vinegar or white vinegar. It takes a bit longer, but is much more gentle on tank/pet cage surfaces that are not glass (glass tanks are great when you can get them at affordable prices, but if you have no choice but to go with acrylic, they are much more easy to accidentally mark.) I used to keep hamsters and other rodents and kept the areas where they urinated clean without risking scratching my tanks/cages. Just use a 50-50 or 75-25 mix of vinegar to water, let the liquid soak on the calcium build-up and slowly dissolve it. May need to soak a couple of times (15 mins each soak) and rub a bit with a soft cloth to get the last of the stubborn calcium deposit to go completely, but well worth the extra time and easy enough to time it when you are cleaning many tanks at a time. Just set 15 mins on a timer for one tank, then move to the next, continuing to soak them, until the timer goes off and go back to the first one you set to soak. Do this outdoors or in a well-ventilated place, because the vinegar smells and rinse tanks very well before refilling with water, as the acid could throw off the parametres in your tank if the water becomes acidic from left-over vinegar. But much safer than using chemical cleaners on your aquariums.
Do you know the best cleaning practice for the acrylic tanks. I found a nice octagon shaped one - I grabbed it for $5 at a yard sale - it has the calcium build up - I thought I would clean it up and gift it to my Grandson.
I use bleach and dawn soap to sanitize my tanks. I have 1#-300gl, 2-150gl, 3-75gl, 1-60gl, 2-55gl, 1-30gl, 2-10gl, 2-5gl and 6-3gl. Never had an issue it's the only way to go with a 10% dilution. Dawn soap wont kill fish and bleach deactivates. Besides the fact you shouldn't put fish in anything that hasn't cycled for at least 3weeks. You're process was sound. The chisel is sketch for sure tho, thats why I recommend you try steel wool. Still use your soap technique but the steel wool will strip it off almost without any cleaner. Zero scratches. I promise.
@@sansrival7102 steel wool #0000 or did you use a steel scrubby? Steel wool is like hair. A steel scrubby is twisted wire? Is your tank acrylic? You can't scrub acrylic with anything even paper towels will scratch it.
Il have to try this on my tank. Although I may need a hammer for my tank. The calcium deposits are so bad that they stick out about a quarter inch all around.
Bit I don't take out my gravel every time I do a water change so soap water dripping and mixing in gravel can make water basic or I'll have to take out all the gravel and that's not easy for a 20.gallon tank

@@sansrival7102 i used steel blade to get rid of calcium build up in my aquarium
instead of an old chisel use a razor blade its straight and very thin and sharp.
Thanks for ur suggest.. i suggest that to some people too
Thanks for sharing, after long time my fish tank is clear now
Great.. im happy this video helped you a lot
Thanks bro for another helpfulllllll video i will sure try it in my tanks cuz its have also a calcium buildup
Soap ,? Isnt that kind of dangerous to fish since it cant be rinse that easily? How do you rinse to totally remove the soap??
Thank you for this!!! Is it also ok to use paint scrapper? Or chisel is better?
Check out my new scrapper video.. its way nbetter than chisel..
Il have to try this on my tank. Although I may need a hammer for my tank. The calcium deposits are so bad that they stick out about a quarter inch all around.
Haha check my newest video it is also about calcium deposit.. i hope u will like it..
Well done! Thank you for sharing.
I tried using cutter blade its hard and usually breaks. Will try this technique.
Cutter blade is weak thats why it breaks so easily...

Sorry i dont understand ur mixing up.. 😔 can u ask me 1 by 1 question only.
@@albertsguppyadventure4293 I'm saying that I'd have to take all my gravel out for this method or the soap will set into the gravel
YOU DID NOT JUST USE SOAP IN IT!!!!!!!! Is it aquarium friendly??
It's good, but don't it leave scratches on the glass
why dont u use gillate blade fr that instead of using wood carving thing....
Yes its effective also. But blade doesnt have handle and might slit your skin accidentally and i dont want that to happen to my viewers.. thank you..
But how do I do this when I'm broke with no 2nd tank??? How do I clean while fish still in tank?
Use scrapper.. in my upcoming videos i will create one which u can remove the calciums right away
how about when there are fishes on the aquarium and there's a calcium build up? I don't regulary clean my aquarium because of so much to do in everyday.
Wait for my next videos. I will make a video fpr that.. tnx
Really good method for cleaning
Thanks sir
My gay here has a humour
It works..tysm 🤣
Doesn’t this scratch the glass? I’m thinking about getting a tank (for free) but scratching it would suck
Nope.
my 4 foot tank is filled with these marks..from top to bottom..it will atleast take 2 days to remove it this way 🤣😭
Lol haha
U must be lazy as hell it took me 3 hours on my 150 gallon tank with vinegar

You use plade scrachchas
Most of fish die BecZ of soaps. so use it knowingly
Thank you for sharing your ideas with us🔥
Your welcome..
thanks for the tip. .. razor blade works well too :)
Your welcome bro..
But you used soap, soap is harmful for aquarium fish
I have bought a 450Liter 2’nd hand..
I used a razor blade and high pressure water hose, over and over. I really didn’t want to use any chemicals
Yeah you can still remove those build ups in ur tank without using chemicals.. razor blade only will work effectively
Goodluck:)

Bro ....simply try with a bathroom cleaner...it just goes in 1 min....
Do you mean by bathroom cleaner.. acid for cleaning toilets? Or thick colored chemical for cleaning tiles???
