Dear Joshua Weissman and fellow viewers- Just wanted to let everyone know that I tried this recipe and it was great! The only thing I would
recommend is making the churros a bit thinner because otherwise they are too chewy and not as crisp. I never write youtube comments but I really wanted to share a story that I was reminded of when trying out this recipe... 5 years ago, my best friend and I discovered a Bigger Bolder Baking video about microwave mug chocolate pudding. Every time we hung out we would make this recipe together, and sometimes even at the same time over FaceTime. Sadly we drifted apart and no longer speak, meaning that I completely forgot about this pudding tradition that we had. Strangely enough, when I was making the chocolate sauce for this recipe, I tasted it and I knew it tasted familiar but didn't know why. Hours later, it hit me and I realized this chocolate sauce tasted extremely similar to the pudding from years ago. I know this story is a little weird, but I thought it was such a great way to show the impact food can have on our connections with people and distant memories. Thanks for reading.
You are most welcome son
Great story man
That's quite a beautiful story😍😍 thank you for sharing🥰
This is a weird story but it’s also really sweet. Thanks for sharing 😊😍

im 7 months pregnant and made these at 2:30 am. never in my life have i tasted a churro. nor did i have a piping bag or star funnel tip, so a ziplock cut with scissors had to do. i have successfully made a small bag of churro turds. they taste like cinnamon sugar fried batter. i have no clue what a real churro tastes like, but i would imagine im no where close. either way, my craving has been satisfied. thank you
omg i died laughing reading this, thank you for the laugh!
Ok
@@Josh-jc5zq you must be fun at parties
It could be that you used flour with baking soda, I think that it causes the churros to look really weird and become flat

Tank you soo much for saying grams I’m in England and we don’t measure in cups and other American youtubers always say in cups

Im making it right now and they are looking GOOOOOD
this turned out perfect! i made it yesterday and omg it was delicious
Your tip gives the churros a very fancy shape. I like it, they look modern. A bigger one allows the churro to cook perfectly on the inside. There is a tradition almost lost in Spain with families meeting grandparents in a good coffee shop on sunday afternoon to have "chocolate con churros". Also the morning of january first, after partying all night, we usually have "chocolate con churros" before going home. I say we, but i actually can't. My stomache would kill me. But i did for years when i was little, we used to buy a dozen or 200 pesetas (our currency before euros) on Sunday mornings from a foodtruck in a farmer's market. Now you have to make PORRAS and BUÑUELOS DE VIENTO. Good luck.
Great comment. The information adds a lot to this video. Gracias.
hehhehe PORRAS
that's a swear word in portuguese so it sounds kinda weird to me
I love hearing about faraway places, the similarities and differences to my home. Thanks for sharing, my pastry of choice as a child was the custard-filled bismark from the Bavarian bakery a few blocks from our house. My dad used to buy them all the time until I got older.
I once tried to make churros and all of them exploded when I was frying them and I burnt my forehead
hi hi then ur oil probably was too hot.It should be around 170 degrees. If it’s to hot the dough will be too cross at the outside, while the inside won’t get done. Then it often happens that they will plop out or even explode
Sad experience

I've made these before (By that I mean I've made that kind of dough I didn't follow your recipe) and I think they're nice but they don't taste like "real" churros (by that I mean the churros that I get in Spain). Spanish churros also aren't sweet per se. The sweetness comes from dipping them in hot chocolate (very thick hot chocolate with corn starch) and sugar that you get from the café that will inevitably be right next to the churreria where you pay like 50 cents for way too many churros (Or you just get them for free because they are cold). Also in Spain they will make a huge "Snail" which they snip after frying.
did this with a plastic bag and the hole widened making my churros look like inflated hot pockets but I used this to my advantage and filled them with jam and cream! thank you josh for making it look easier than i though it was!
thank you so much it finally worked most time i make churros it always comes out runny in the middle but i kept tryin then i came across your video again thank you so much im so happy keep doing what your doing amazing
Little side note:
As you said churros are traditional in many other places, for example, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Just picture a rainy winter, you sitting in your favorite coffee shop, having a "Submarino" (Piping hot glass of milk with one or two bars of dark semi-bitter chocolate dumped inside, slowly melting) and a side of three magnificent, 14 cm long, straight, churros filled with dulce de leche.
Because if there is something better than churros, are "churros con dulce de leche": As churros are fried into a straight shape in Argentina, we cover them in sugar as is traditional and then when they are cold, we puncture them with a syringe and fill them with unctuous dulce de leche.
Good memories from my "Buenos Aires querido". Here in Spain, I got use to have Churros and Porras. They are a bit different from the ones back home in Argentina. Here they make it only with Flour, water and salt. But I have to say that I preffer the choux paste. Not so much oil inside. And there are no "Submarinos" here, so sad. But "Churros con chocolate" is fantastic to keep you warm in this long and rainy winter. Saludos porteños.

I just made these and shared them with my parents .... they absolutely loved them !!! It was also very easy to make !! Thank you man👌🏻
Present Christmas no actually, mine was fully cooked.. maybe try leaving it for longer or check the consistency of the dough ?? I’m not sure
As a spaniard, a few observations: here, they are usually made thinner and longer, and often formed into a knot. These straighter and longer ones are called porras (also delicious). Traditionally (and to my preference) the dough is made sweet and they're not covered in sugar, but dipped in a dark and dense chocolate/cocoa drink (chocolate a la taza). These still look great though.
I made it and it turned out Beautiful 👌🏾
