You should make a Froglight Etho's billboard in your city! It'll fit the aesthetic of a metropolis and also fulfil your end of the bargain! Double win!
Just thought the same thing.... Giant Neon Tokyo style advert of Etho in the city would be very on brand haha
With a frog mascot on it. Give it Etho's face 🥷🐸
Should make a deal with every person who has the main blocks he doesn’t want to get and give them an advert in the city like you mention for etho
I was thinking wall graffiti too but your idea is better
Seems the billboard idea is popular. I scrolled to comments to offer the same suggestion. :D
Sad about the river. Riding a boat through a cyberpunk city canal would have been really really cool. A lot of opportunity for grungy, water-based storylines.
a japanese cyberpunk city without river is not japanese cyberpunk city We. Need. River.
Would be cool to have like a sludge/sewer river going through the slums. Like in Arcane.
Would be cool to have like a sludge/sewer river going through the slums. Like in Arcane.
yeah, it would have been so cool to see the hermits boating down the river through the city to get to their bases. Rip!
A brightly lit canal with intricate bridges would have been cool
But Impulse is building at water level so he couldn't fit it in if he wanted to
False is running a business building rivers. You could consider using her services to divert the river mentioned at the end of the episode
Was going to say the same. Sounds like a job for False's river and island services
Just replying in hopes of making this comment more visible
That'd be cool! I wonder if she would get in trouble with the hpo
Boost this comment
Yes
"You sold me a lemon, man!"
"It's not a lemon! You look like a lemon!" 😭
No no, Keralis has a point, Impulse _is_ looking rather _yellow_ this season...
Impulse could make somekind of 'Illegal' street racing in his city with these cool roads now that everyone has horses. Would be epic to zoom around the city once some buildings are up
And then Mumbo shows up with this supped up hog
tokyo drift. cool. The city will have some japanese vibes, so it will make sense.
YES
would sugar-doping be legal in this illegal race?
Just imagine if they changed the horsearmours texturepack!! To racing cars 🏎
"If something really bad happens to Tyler Swift..." such as, your horse dealer steals it back and replaces it with a fake?
Etho requests Impulse to be frog light spokesman right as Cub's nametag shows up on the other side of the wall and Impulse immediately knows what to do, like the true Life Series veteran he is. You're turning into a improv master, Impy! Proud of you! 💙
_Task: "Plug Etho's froglight shop at least four times in one episode."_
13 stacks should be enough to make lights for the area... Oh he's lining the roads with them, he's not even close.
That's the same thing I thought. 😂
I think doing a 2:1 or even 3:1 smooth stone : froglight could have it just as lit up and third or quarter the froglight use, but what hermits do for the appearance sometimes hah
Oh gosh, Impulse - I think you forgot the Cardinal Rule of taking your vehicle to a mechanic you don't trust... Always take out the valuables! They usually have a disclaimer that they're not responsible for lost or stolen items, and that diamond armor is looking mighty shiny. Also, I LOVE that Hermits are embracing horse travel this season, when possible. It does feel a lot more immersive, like a world, rather than a bunch of builds on a server.
It forces the builders to think about the liminal spaces, in the literal sense of a transitory space. With Elytra, the server becomes a collection of locations, but then you miss out on roads and waystations and inns and all the other ephemera of travel.
I totally agree!! It makes it so much more fun and you get to see other people's builds much more! 😊
@@jennareynolds1403so was this the “country roads” project Scar mentioned before start of the season? That they would all put some sort of travel system through each build?
I always disliked this aspect of Elytras... If you need to travel far away or very quickly in special situations then sure, go for it! But other than that just embrace some mid-level distances
Maybe Keralis will give the diamond armor an "upgrade" to Netherite horse armor like Hypno has.
While diverting the river is an idea, I like the concept of turning it into the cyberpunk sewers
Seconded. If the river ran underneath the city in a sewer? Ugh. That would be filthy cool.
@@katieglow95heh, 'filthy' cool.
That’s where the black market could operate. I could see doc coming over with froglights at 1/2 price
@@Aenyn With the way Grian is running the permit office that is an increasingly likely outcome
I know you guys have like already covered up the river in parts, but I do really think you're missing an opportunity for some cool bridges/underpasses/tunnels. A really cool part of the cyberpunk aesthetic is the many-layered-city. I hope you keep some part of the river as it makes the building process more complex in a good, idea-generating sort of way.
Yes!
i am so devastated to see the river go, i was really hoping the boat ways would stay connected!
it could also be a cool avenue for some creative cyberpunk designs like pipes, sewers, docks, boats/crashed boats, sketchy fish shops (we all know the ones from movies), crumbling old foundations, and maybe even mutant plants!
Yeah, it would’ve been really fun to see false try to negotiate with impulse for his rivers XD
If Keralis keeps trying these aggressive sales tactics, you might have to go to another Horse Dealership (i.e. BDubs) there Impulse
Etho should have an ad for frog lights in the city like a mega sponsorship
The way cub just walks in on the frog light advertising 😂
The man has fireworks to distribute. 😂
So Keralis is now basically a dodgy used car dealer 😅😅
this fits him so well lol
Your friendly neighbourhood repoMan.
I agree with the comments about the river. Night City has a cannal that runs through one of the districts. I think it would be cool to have a cannal going through it.
To be fair, you could jut move the river underground, as part of a sewer system, with access points on both ends. A dropdown to come in, and bubble clumns to go out can work wonders, you wouldn't even have to leave your boat.
Sewer idea seems to be popular. Do boats work in bubble columns now? Last time I tried it just sank the boat but I got good at building slime block launchers for the boats which would work well here
@@spiragonplaysThe slime could also fit in with the sewer aesthetic
@@spiragonplays upward bubble columns push the boat for a while, just break it if you stay on it too l9ng I believe. As for downward, you can just have it drop down.
For the frog light advertisement, you could totally make some awesome billboards around your city!!! Maybe you could even rent out advertisement space to other hermits, whether for diamonds or use of their shop goods like with Etho.👀
Keralis is gonna single handedly get the server to elytra and put himself outa business
Unless Scar gets the mob permit
Then it'd be outright illegal 😂
Technically, if Scar ever manages to complete Grian's Bureaucracy Similator and get his permit for "All the mobs", Keralis would be put out of business anyway.
@@codenate02 LOL exactly
@@codenate02 lol. We will see.
I’d love to see Scar press an in game lawsuit on keralis for infringement on his permit
"My fingers hurt".
"Your fingers hurt, well now your backs gunna hurt, cos you just pulled landscaping duty"
An idea for the river: you could make a cool cyberpunk themed sewer underneath your roads.. just needs somrthing on either end for boaters to drop down into and then pop back up
Welsknight might be interested in a nether bricks deal since you may don't need the ones from your bartering farm
That's a good idea, there's a restriction on selling without a permit, but trading/selling to supply a permitted shop is legal as far as I know and a clever idea.
Didnt he get the nether brick permit from grian?
@@RubbeUhhyup, as grians mystery permit….kinda
@@RubbeUhhhe got red nether brick. The regular nether brick permit would complete the set. That deal is so good that it has probably already happened!
@@Ertplays yeah, it did happen already lol. The permit is for all types of nether bricks, including the red ones
You should totally build a billboard advertising Etho's frog light business in the Cyberpunk City. I think it'd fit the vibe perfectly since an overabundance of ads is a common trope in the genre.
You should make the river drop into an underground sewer and pop back up on the other side so people can still use boats but also keep the vibe of the city!
That’s a fantastic idea
What about the vibe of the other hermits? I’m sure they’ll be too nice to complain but gigantic walls and huge streets from circa 2012 Minecraft doesn’t really fit with the actual quality of his neighbors.
False would be interested in building or diverting your river...she likes IOUs as well!
I saw a comment about boating through a cyberpunk canal that runs through the city and I think that would be amazing!
I am eagerly awaiting more builds.
You may want to hire an investigator about shenanigans with Tyler Swift™. There may be some horsing around going on there.
While the idea of moving the river outside of the walls is practical, it would be awesome if you had a canal running under the city going through the sewers. Then there could be secret manhole exits and entrances and a fun new path.
I love how everyone knows how to open impulses door now XDD cub just casually walking in, was the best
Maybe Keralis needs a visit from big Salmon. It would be a shame if something happened to his horses.
Now there's a great cyberpunk storyline!
You might already have a plan for the entrances to the city, but if not. Some sort of cyber punkish military barricades at each entrance could really help beef up the "dystopian" side of the theme.
It'd be quite the powerful juxtaposition between your area and Joel's I think.
Maybe you could even do some armour stand stuff like you did for scars theme park entrance but with Guards instead.
It's nice to see Impulse building the rug from my childhood with the road and the buildings XD
I think that rift in the middle of the city floor would look amazing as a Blade Runner/Coruscant style cyber punk underbelly to top side.
my fav part of cyberpunk cities is the vertical layers , even just a second layer adds a ton of impact imo and would help with how long and plain the stairs up to beans place is
what if the river was part of a "lower" city to show the typical class divide that underpins many cyberpunk stories
I'd have used a every 2 blocks system with the froglights put 2 quartz blocks or bone blocks between each frog light it would still create light but also give a bit of atmosphere to it
That's exactly what I was going to suggest. It would still all look white in daytime and have the cyber-factor at night!
and its a third of the froglights needed
Agrees or using other color light for different sections of the city would be nice.
Yep. If it were me, when I ran out of frog lights I'd have thought, hmm, maybe they don't need to be EVERY block.
The froglights being on every block does seem a bit jarring and excessive
I love how cub just walks in at the perfect time lmaooo
It seems like it was planned, but we all know it wasn’t!! Haha
I recommend you rethink the river diversion.. at least to that extent. Having a narrow canal cut through the city would feel very Cyberpunk, retain transport connections and give a lot of opportunity for cool stuff.. imagining how Bdubs will do the waterline gunk, and how you could hide little speakeasies under bridges.
You should reconsider leaving the river. Most dystopian cities and cyber punk cities have portions of the city over run with water( example the reboot of Total Recall or Split Second). I'd build buildings part way in the water like they sank down over time, have buildings with tunnels through them because the city had to acclimate to the flooding so on so forth. It'd be neat to be able to ride a boat through the city looking at all the cool stuff you and bdubs build
I love the fact that the crosswalks "change" to different colours depending on if pedestrians can traverse them or not! Such a cool futuristic idea that makes it feel so alive!!
If scar gets that mob permit, keralis will have to stop scamming people.
Nah, see thats the genius. If Scar gets the mob permit, Keralis can't sell horses anymore...
But he CAN continue to sell warrenties and insurance. Neither of those are covered under a mob permit.
@@Peregrine1989but does he have a permit to sell warranty and insurance??
@@albuspercivalwulfricbriand5363 No, but if there is one thing I am absolutely sure of...
Its that a lack of permits has never stopped an insurance scammer from scamming.
And I think Keralis could give Grian a run for his money on 'Putting on hold' and 'fill in this paperwork' shinanigans if he is the server insurance company.
🤔Since you’ve hinted at an epic game in your city, I assume the water must go. Maybe sewers will be a thing…lots of atmospheric builds include water….mold and mildew and moss equal grunge. 🤷♀️😉 I can’t wait to see where all of this goes. So so curious! ❤
You should totally keep the river!! How cool would it be to travel under bridges and in canals! Super cyber punk!
You could make a 'working' pedastrian crossing. That at someonewhat random intervals. The crossing blocks get switched out for another colour. Red to Green (or white). Would be nice to also add a skulk sensor to it, so it'll respond by a player walking on the road.
Cities have tiled streams/creeks to build overtop of them in the past. Maybe with your cyberpunk theme, you could "tile" the river and have it setup that people could boat under your city in tunnels.
This happened in Duluth, MN in the 1800's. They tiled over 44 streams and build their downtown overtop of the buried steams (FYI: this does a lot of ecological damage in the real world).
This could be a really cool feature of your base. Here is a description of the oldest tiled portions of the streams, paraphrased from the Duluth's StarTribune: "The oldest tunnels are 12 feet high and 8 feet wide, with walls built of thick bluestone boulders and topped with brick arches several layers tall. They are a wonder of craftsmanship."
Some homes even have the stream fully in view in their basements. I've seen a few, it is crazy.
Keep the River !! Make bridges for the roads !!!!!! The River would be so awesome to keep connected
You could replace some of the froglights with tinted or stained glass and put an end rod inside of it with an armour stand to make some of them look burnt out in the slum district
TangoEthoPearl: Build fully function mail system
Hermits: Ah yes, the Scams & Spams update, nice
Cool Random Idea: Create block swappers in the cross walks to alternate them between red and green as a cyberpunk walk/dont walk lights!
you could integrate the river diversion into the city by building some king of cyberpunk riverside road along with some advertising directed at those boating through. This build is going to be magnificent either way!
A donkey?!
That is a funny reaction considering, last I heard, the fastest/best jumping mount on the server was a mule.
those froglights really makes the road POP :D love the progress so far!!
Looks like the perfect job for the false's river construction company coming up.
Grian needs to hurry up and give Scar that animal permit so Keralis can no longer scam people.
That would mean the DHP would be helping, which it only does sometimes
You should keep the river going through Cyberpunk city sort of. Think KnightRider 2000 with the waterway going through the middle of the city and it was quasi future cyberpunkish.
If I had a nickel for every time Knight Rider came up in the last two days I'd have two... which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice
Honestly I'd keep the mule.
It's pretty fast and gives you extra storage.
I wanna also say I'm sad about the river! I thought you guys might incorporate parts of it into the build with cool cyberpunk bridges and docks and etc, and it would have been cool if hermits could boat through it by entering the wall through giant sewer pipes.
One way you could potentially add some visual interest and access points so it's easier to get into the city is in addition to the open invite to graffiti the walls you could add some strategically placed vines on the walls in the more overrun parts of the city and large drippy drainage pipes through a couple walls
The river could still be incorporated. Think about having a cyberpunk Venice!
Maybe you could build a aqueduct flowing through the buildings, so the river can still be used.
I would like to see a more efficient street system. With for example a main road going in and out, either along the outside or trough the middle, that has streets branching off. This also lends the possibilty of adding a tram, train or metro structure. Also some curves instead of 90 degrees turns would make a big difference. Now, in my honest opinion, it just looks like an oldschool playmatt or a lego city that uses the default street parts that lego makes. Which is also partly caused by the streets going either in direction x or y. So I would also like to challange you to use... dramatic pause... diagnals. In short, please try to make it flow. PS. thanks for the video.
I second this.
The horse extended warranty part had me dying 😂
Possible tweak for the door to fix the issue with Cub accidentally breaking the door by dismounting the horse at about 24:00
The trigger from the sculk sensor should output to a pulse extender. You could use a rising/falling edge detector to then detect the input. This should allow you to add a delay where the door is guaranteed to not attempt to close/open while in the middle of closing/opening.
2:03 I think you have one spawnable crying obsidian at your afk spot in the nether.
On your deal with Etho. Since Cyberpunk often has a lot of themes of extreme company control, would something like billboards advertising Froglight work. If so then it would fit the theme and fulfill your advertising.
The river should be included IN the city. It gives more verticality and adds a lot to the design of a city.
What more cyber punk than having the river flow beneath the city where the travelers can see the city above in certain places as they float on through...
Definitely make sure the river goes through the city! Will be so atmospheric to boat through!
Impulse, I love the design you’re going for so far! I wonder if you could incorporate some cyberpunk graffiti throughout the city? I know Bdubs has done stuff like that in the past but it just adds texture and color to otherwise plain buildings and it might make the city come alive
the other hermits are gonna put graffiti on the walls around the city, they may do some on buildings as well
With Joel's build in the background this kind of reminds me of Gintama.
A cool business plan for the city could be billboards. Hermits could advertise their shops in the city.
Lol - Cub's timing and his response of "I walked in on a deal for frog lights here didn't I?" was just absolutely perfect. Fantastic improv
Look ma... I'm on Hermitcraft! 😄
Instead if diverting the river, what about a sewer system for cyberpunk town?
You should put some sponsorship signs in the city advertising the frog light shop. Ads and sponsors feel like they would fit very well in a cyberpunk city.
At the end, "my fingers hurt" my brain only thought "Oh, well, now your back's gonna hurt cause you just pulled landscaping duty" LOL
These season has so many hilarious scams. I love it!
Aw yeah, sick foundations, really giving off "district" vibes
Obviously a lot more work than diverting it but you could always do a river under the city where you boat into a cyberpunk dam/airlock that raises and lowers your boat on reach side. Could texture it like a sewer or something with frog lights as light
I would love to see the river dregs being used as semi-covered sewers. Could bring a whole new vibe to the waterway!
Can't wait to see the final product! I can just tell that both you and bdubs will learn soo much from each other.
I just realized that your name is a play on "impulsive" I do not know how I never realized this before
SV are his initials too!
cub's timing couldn't have been ANY better for you omg, i really enjoyed the sales pitch too !!
In a lot of dystopian cities I think theres some water that tries to reclaim the original path it was diverted from. It might be a nice touch to have some points where you can tell there was a river running through the city.
"oh my god", what a great episode!
Good thing Impulse already has practice from being a cherry wood spokesperson
Would have loved to see a Venice-type cyberpunk city. Tightly packed houses with tiny roads with water everywhere aswell.
Love love love how you try to do different things each season. Love the look, love the theme, love the different farms. You're doing great and I love seeing new and different things from you. Excited to see the future episodes. Keep at it!
Woooooo!!!
If you find this, you’re a nerd
Expressing lament about a lost idea is not criticism. By inviting people into community, asking them to support a creative effort, and committing time/resources to the endeavor, these all allows the opportunity for others to be expressive about the content. True, necessary, kind...all yes. Trust the process...yes. Sad about how part of it is going...yes. Love your work, impulseSV. Keep going!
After the city is filled in, I think it would be awesome to have some "suburbs" outside the wall to make it a bit more realistic. You could have other hermits do those along the graffiti. It would be so cool. Plus also Joel's own cyberpunk city right next to yours will make the place look even bigger and cooler.
I'm loving the look of the cyberpunk city also I'll mine 2 blocks in Minecraft for every like this comment gets

I think you should keep the river in the corner of the compound, every dystopian future city has a run down dock's, that's like, Urban planning 101
You should use Ravagers in Minecarts and rails to simulate traffic in the city. Keep people from jaywalking under threat of head on collision with a Ravager. Could also throw in redstone stop lights that sync up with the traffic simulation. If each intersection has a randomized chance of which way the car turns, it could even simulate things like a traffic jam.
Right now the river having its water right at ground level looks really goofy, but I think dropping it down 5ish blocks would make for a cool looking canal! Opportunity to add sewers and industrial wastewater pipes feeding into it, too. The drop down could happen right before the walls of the city in the form of two weired waterfalls, of which one is bubble columns, so that boats can go back up in both directions.
Impulse you could use ochre frog lights to make the little lane lines in the middle of the roads! I think glowing ones would be really cyberpunk :-)
I think an underground river/sewer along the original river route would be really cool! it would bring more hermits through the cyberpunk city, and could have locks on either end to return boaters to the original z level of the river.
aww i was kinda hoping for some verticality with the roads. Like how in a lot of cyberpunk/dystopian cities you see overpasses going around, or in some cases even through, buildings and stuff like that. Also Impulse, you gotta keep the river! You can't get much more dystopian than some pipes pumping sludge in a river!
Cub's comedic timing on the "........I just walked in on a deal for froglights, didn't I?" had me cracking up so hard 😂
I'm excited about this project!! I'm glad Bdubs is involved, too, it's going to end up so great.
Maybe someone's suggested it already but it might be neat to swap some of the road marking blocks with other blocks to look more rundown, like redstone ore for redstone, or.. sand? tuft? for the green froglights.
Maybe swap some of the froglights to create dark, moody areas? Or cover them with carpet, which would help with mobproofing and be easy to remove as the city gets revitalized?
