I find it interesting that the newer models of the S&S swings have a skid plate on the bottom. That is the one problem with sky hawk at cedar point is that when stopping it can take a minute or two for the swings themselves to stop enough for riders to exit
It's actually a magnetic brake, but yeah all the models made after 2007 feature this. Then again, I've never seen Rush at Thorpe park take ages to stop, it usually manages just fine.
@@darcdeath No they aren't, they only slide into position when the swings are swinging low enough after the pneumatic system allows the ride down for the most part.
Most of the time we see it only running one side, luckily this night they were running both sides even though people weren't wanting to ride it in the rain.
Dally Winston because I was made to go on these scary rides as a child and it was so horrible! It wasn’t for my enjoyment but for the adult making me go on and they knew I was scared and didn’t want to go on the ride.

I never noticed this installation has those magnetic plates to help settle the cars at the end of the cycle for quicker unloading.
The magnetic plates are the main breaks.

I'm from VA and go to all the time during the summer, when they have little kids on the ride it doesn't go nearly as high so it doesn't scare them
