I like the display side panel. I ended up ripping apart an old dell monitor, bought some high density LED's and stuck all of it to the side of my current PC's tempered glass. Works great, most all of my components are white anyway so everything really pops. Upping the contrast and digital vibrance could help too. Its nice having wallpaper engine to display a graphic as well as rainmeter to show stats.
Cool, what size was the Dell monitor? Also, how do you feel about rainmeter as far as, using memory or, just slowing the computer down? I've been debating on downloading it is why I ask.
This is taking the phrase "I like to play games on my computer" to a really literal level. Honestly though, I've always liked these case displays for minimalist motion backgrounds on the side of the case. I'd almost say you could consider something like this and skip the RGB craze.
ID trade all the rgb for this on a case with better air flow any day. Or the ability to install it on any case or glass panel object... That would make millions im sure.
I remember a video a couple years ago where a modder did this and turned his power supply shroud into a "stage" and had Hatsune Miku dancing in his computer. That's really the only acceptable reason to get this.
I picked up one on sale on Cyber Monday. The first thing in noticed is that my GPU was 10c higher than in the NZXT H500 I transplanted it from. I pulled out that stupid plastic grill, replaced the front fans and moved one of the old ones to be a top exhaust. That pretty much brought me back to where I was in the H500. It's a completely useless novelty, but it's pretty cool for what it is. I've spent way too much time in wallpaper engine playing with the display.
I have an idea. Combine Transparent OLED and Transparent None-RGB LCD (outputs black color only for dark background image scenarios behind the transparent OLED display) for perfect viewing experience. You could also control how dark the TNRGB LCD background you would want it to be to reveal the computer's insides or choose not to.
I love this idea. It's a natural evolution from setting up a 7" raspberry pi display inside the case for similar system diagnostics/monitoring purposes.

I have this case through iBuyPower. It's fantastic. All white parts on the inside. Display GPU and CPU usage and temps. Very customizable. Never feels stale.

@WarriorsPhoto when using multiple displays, you can't stop the mouse from sliding over. Or sometimes windows pop up and you can't see them because the display is to transparent

Seems like putting a tint film on the backside of the glass could make a benefit to it, albeit at the cost of not being able to see the internals as well.
@@bigmike4133 Me too. Might even give the image a bit of depth, creating a small 3D effect to the image... And provided that didnt cause headaches, it'd be better than no back film.
Maybe a crazy idea but since this is a case with a monitor built in is the background lighting really that important? Why not just take some white paper or cardboard and put on the inside. Yes it eliminates the transparency but it then would make the screen well usable.
I built a white system in the Thermaltake V21, with a home-made LCD mod in the side panel. It connects to a usb header on the motherboard for power and video. The LCD was sourced from a portable monitor I got for $40 used. Works perfect and is also in landscape for great viewing angles.
Eye Candy to the max, but could be used for so much more if the quality was there. Reminds me of building an overhead display from an LCD panel. I did that once for a friend and his kids had at home drive-in movies with it which they loved.
I got to see one of these in person finally at a local Best Buy a few months ago. Pretty sweet tech but obviously has it's flaws. You can make your own panel like this if you really want to. I'd like to try.
It is most handy to display your hardware monitoring at the bottom over the hardware shroud and just what ever cool active wall paper you want running for decoration. If you are the type to run a second monitor just for hardware monitoring this will cover you. However a second monitor has many other uses such as stream/monitoring/youtube/tv on the side that i ended up with 2 monitors anyway but still ran hardware monitors on the case. It is at least as good as just cramming RGB into a case if not better as it at least serves a function
Might be interesting to apply some sort of translucent white frost on the inside of the glass... yes it would obscure trying to see through, but you'd be able to utilize the screen better, and depending on how translucent the frost is, you may not lose too much visibility of the components inside.
I thought of making a laptop out of a case and found this video. If you think about it's just an all"in"one, but if we can install a better screen and have the option to switch between seethrough and black and also be able to flip the screen like a camera screen or a laptop, would be absolutley amazing. Just being able to turn on/off the screen like the LED's. This could be a game changer. Now you have a huge laptop where the money is well spent haha. You can either play horisontally or vertically.
The idea behind build-in tn panel is good, it is just that at the moment many many graphics cards have glitches when using multiple monitors that have different aspect ratios, resolutions and refresh times. If I would buy one I would hook up raspberry pi to this display and show some cool graphics and maybe some social media feed/email feed (though if not for above mentioned issues I would above all prefer cool graphics+system resources+notification icons like in android for new emails etc.)
I think the need to move the lcd from the side to the front. I think that would be a much better place for it and would be easier to light up the area to get a much better experience
You could apply a white vinyl cover to the inside of the glass. Problem solved. Personally I would use it for Twitch, Twitter, or game guides. Great idea for a case.
I don't think this is a gimmick at all. I think it's a reasonable accessory that is a nice place to provide inside for you computer or the weather etc. Plus it looks cool as fuck. It definitely has a solid foundation for use and I gaurentee this will be everywhere in 10 years kindve like RGBs. I will build my own though, you can do the same with an old LCD monitor.
Great Video as always, I would only use the panel for CPU and GPU temp , The Time , Fan speed and some overclocking info. I like to show off the components of the build and if I have to turn off the lighting to the fans , Ram even the Mother and graphics card, this is a deal breaker for me. It's cool but, I am not ready for it.
I just finished a Snowblind S case build. I've tried unsuccessfully to contact IBP. This company has the worst customer support. I"m now reaching out to others who may be able to help me. I built that kind of "Snowblind" LCD side panel myself for 20€. It's such a cheap and easy mod that personally I would never pay the premium price for this pre-built case. But for people who don't wanna tinker with electronics and solder SATA power wires, this might be a better option.
I'm actually very surprised this isn't standard on cases by now. When a fan with some LEDs in it costs more than an LCD panel, you'd think more folks would opt for infinite options over a circle of light.
I think a solution for better visuals would be as easy as taping a piece of paper to the back of the pannel to be honest. If white doesn't work I'd experiment with different coloured sheets of construction paper to see what fits best. aside from that, loved the video 😁
This is so cool, I hope other companies will do this, perfect stuff for wallpaper engine, but I would remove the start bar and icons, so only the wallpaper is visible
For anyone looking to get something like this, please keep in mind that Windows 10 locks refresh rate of all displays through DWM to the highest common refresh rate among all displays for windowed mode applications.
