Great tip here, having this problem and this has instantly given me that initial backswing movement I need to keep height!

This goes completely counter to what I’ve been trying. To introduce side bend, I’ve been dropping the lead shoulder on the take away and sure enough I’ve developed a sway off the ball. Thanks for the help.

    Hi Kerrod,
Really enjoyed your video on not dropping the head in the backswing and how to cure it. Most revealing and insightful but regrettably you did not mention the context on why this is so important.
From my perspective I have had severe problems in topping my three wood off the fairway and even my driver off the tee. Little did i know this was happening in my case mainly because I was dropping my head in the back swing too much. For me it is self evident that if you drop your head in the backswing it is only natural to lift the head in the downswing. Eureka! That was the main cause of my topping (lifting my head in the downswing) and I suspect is a major problem for a lot of other golfers out there who top the ball.
Getting taller a bit in the backswing will promote a bit of dropping in the downswing so one can hit don on the ball for irons and fairway woods. For the driver it means bottoming out just before the ball not after the ball. Much to do about ball position for the Driver (but otherwise same principle applies) but you definitely want to be lowering the head in the downswing and you have given me a formula on how to do it by starting with getting the head higher in the backswing not lower. Well done and a most meaningful video. Thank you. It really works. So much more confidence now as I go to strike the ball without fear of topping. In my case i have addressed the cause of my topping after years of searching.

Didn't get much our of this one. Different instructors have varying thoughts on any move to the R at the start of the backswing. Some feel a 2" R hip move to the right is optimal; some feel NO move to the right is correct. Confusing......very confusing

Too much time spent on bad form rather than on producing a good form.
