Hey Paul, I'm a student PT and just wanted to say I appreciate your videos! Covid has negatively affected classes and in-person learning experiences, so your videos have really helped solidify some of the material I'm learning. Thanks!
Hi Pete, Glad to hear you are finding the videos helpful. I started OEP for students in the medical field and providers with little ortho experience wanting to learn more. My daughter is a PT student also. Taking a final right as we speak. Best of luck with your studies and spread the word. More to come!!
I am gratefully for your video. I just purchased an ultrasound and there was plenty questions about how to use it as well as the tissues type. you covered everything i could think of. thanks million.
I found your video very informative. Having watched many videos on the subject I thought to try a home application to help stimulate blood flow in my 55 year type 1 diabetic feet. I am 2nd year into neuropathy and find balance is being affected. I will speak to my endocrinologist about desire to treat with suggestions. Chosen unit is a US Pro 2nd edition. .08w pulsed on low 10%, .8w pulsed on medium 50% & 1.6w continuous on high @100%. Ratings are per cm squared. Treatment times can be set to 5, 10 & 15 minutes. Unit is a 1mhz frequency.
Yes Paul as you stated... a lenghty video, but very easy to watch and went by quickly. I enjoyed it:) You're a talented instructor. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Looking forward to more. And LOVE that you offer coaching!
Thanks for your high quality content and really useful personal experience for PT career , appreciate the opportunity to see this Video because UA-cam after finished with terrible classes with my horrible lectures 😂. You channel is my sunshine.
I'm just a person, no medical training whatsoever. However around 2003, I dislocated my right elbow while mountain biking and after it was reset at a hospital, I was referred to a physical therapist. I didn't know until recently that what she called deep heat, was actually ultrasound. Anyway, I'm very likely to buy one soon, so I want to learn as much about them as possible. Watching you rub that head around near your elbow is almost exactly what she did to me a couple times each week. Also, the gel she was using, she said was cortisone. As you said, and I even mentioned to her; I'm not feeling any heat. But seconds after she would stop, it's like I'd never injured my arm at all. However an hour or so after I'd get home from therapy, the pain was excruciating. Now I'm fairly old, and a lifetime of both, poor habits and beating my body up is showing itself, mostly in the form of arthritis. In 2018, just after moving to our new house here in the Midwest, I slipped on ice in the driveway after getting the mail. I broke my leg, right where the tibia and femur meet behind the knee. I wasn't even offered therapy that time,, but I've proven to be pretty hard-headed and at a certain point,, usually take over my own treatment using what I gleaned from a therapist. Still, I'm trying to get fully back to my old self, and I'm hoping this device can help with my damaged shoulder, my knee, maybe feet, as you mentioned Achilles tendon, etc. So I'm here and anywhere else to learn before I buy one.
Thanks a lot for this. I’m a patient who has chronic pain. I purchased a 1mhz wand from a chemist shop in the uk and have recently started to use it on a tendon close to my right hip. I have had a lot of pain in this area, as I think when I did hack squat in the gym, I injured myself. Thanks for the explanation: I appreciate this is for professionals who use the equipment, but it’s always very useful for people like me. As these ultrasound wands are freely available, it’s good that there’s information like your channel that is reliable and accurate. Thanks.
Excellent presentation. I think you may have the BNR info backward. The lower the BNR the better. At 1 w/cm2 and a BNR of 9:1 means there is a point in the ultrasound field that is getting 9w/cm2...that is where the potential for danger lies. Most manufacturers list the highest allowable BNR, as it is expensive and time consuming the test every single ultrasound crystal individually. So, the BNR written on the transducer is likely higher than the actual BNR.
Yes. I know. I changed it in my description. I can’t believe I said that. I taught modalities for 5 years. Didn’t realize I did it till I reviewed it after and don’t have any video editing skills to change it.
Thanks for the very informative video. I had a steroid injection for plantar fasciitis last week (which has helped at all). Would it be safe to use ultrasound so soon after an injection please? 🙏🏻
Hi Paul This is great content. Please upload more videos like this on other manual and electro therapy treatments. This is really helpful especially whilst being a PT student. Thanks Sir
What about using a 1 mega Hertz ultrasound, set at .08W/cm2 so no increase in heat, to aid in healing bruised bones that are clear of any fractures? I have a bruised fibula malleolus from an ankle inversion injury and it is still slightly swollen, so id like to know if treating that ankle area for 4-5 minutes, with the above setting, would hasten the recuperation window? I have been using that setting on that entire injury except over the bone protuberances and i have healed wonderfully thanks to you and other videos! Thanks so much
I am needing to know what causes air bubbles in the medium that is used during treatment? What would the air bubbles indicate in this situation? This was a question that I know was taught to me but I cant seem to make it stick and remember it! Thanks!
Be careful with these devices, it is too easy to accidentally burn the muscles tissues and cause cellular damage and permanent scarring in the muscle tissues
Hello Paul, My mum is having a pacemaker and is experiencing sharp pain in the lower back area. Is it advisable to use UST /IFT physiotherapy???? I am asking this question cause one physiotherapist in our area is saying that we can apply these ultrasound therapies on the patients having PPM after making some adjustments.

Hi, thanks for this. I am going to be using this for self treatment of chronic tightness and soreness of leg muscles post spinal stenosis corrective surgery 3 years ago. May I ask a question? How many areas would it be ok to treat at one time? What distance should I keep between the sites? Would it appropriate to treat the tibialis of one leg and then the other in one session? If I treat sites at different times of the day, how should I pace it?

Hi, I purchased the LG Pro Series Elite ultrasound. It's BNR is a 5, is that ok? I got it for home use. I have a clogged milk duct from breastfeeding which won't budge and this is one of the forms of treatmemt for it, but no one does it in my area. Also, the settings are low to high and 5, 10 or 15 mins, any recommendations? I started with med at 5 mins and I moved the head around the area the whole time, but feel some discomfort. Don't know if I pressed hard which I didn't think I did, but the area is sore anyway. Any thoughts? Usually it takes 3 consecutive sessions if you go to get it done.

Glad it was helpful Doreene! I did make a mistake. The BNR needs to be low not high as I said. Didn't review the video before posting.

what's the best sitting position for computer work, if you have hip osteoarthritis?
Thanks for this info, Paul! Do you know of a good training or certification program for therapeutic ultrasound?
Hi,
I purchased the LG Pro Series Elite ultrasound.
