It's interesting to hear about this movie from the perspective of a Brit. Lorne Michaels is a pop-culture icon here in the US, having helmed SNL for most of its 50-year run. The big question is who will take over SNL after Lorne retires. A few years ago, Tina Fey was at the top of most lists, but I don't know if she's still the front runner today
Yeah it’s funny, until I saw this I had zero idea who Lorne Michaels was.
It’s really good if you’re a huge fan of the first seasons of SNL. Having grown up with it being presented to me by my dad, the real comedians that these actors BEAUTIFULLY portray are so well represented. It’s like if Birdman was centered around the first episode of SNL. Easily my favorite movie of 2024.
Great analogy, I loved Birdman. I got the sense there were sooo many little nods or momentary things that fans would appreciate. A bit lost on me, but still great concept and a solid film.
It’s a really intriguing film to say the least. I really want more true story movies to get artistic like this.
If this can be one of those critical darlings that gain a following, all the better!
