Crying, screaming, throwing himself in the floor, kicking and swinging aggressively, etc. But I’ve NEVER hit or spanked him because of it. He’s autistic and isn’t picking up on sign or any of the communication skills we’ve worked on so he’s often not understood which leads to the aggression and screaming.

I hate this shit so much. And one thing I hate is all the tip toeing around that women like this do. She allows the man to beat her child as a way of appeasing his delicate masculinity and as a way of keeping the guy around. Just like parents who give their daughters over to their predator boyfriends, she is no different, just a different kind of abuse. If a kid is coloring on the walls, you don't sic your child beating boyfriend on him, you recognize that you have a child with natural creative instincts who needs a greater outlet for that. What could be something truly magical and defining for this kid is instead turned to one of the million way parents bully their kids before they can even spell that word.
Also there are definitely guys who revel in harming another man's kid as a form of domination over that other man and the mother who is happy to let people harm their children. As someone who has a 3 year old of her own and who fostered my toddler niece and nephew who had a variety of their own behavioral issues. I don’t like that all 3 of them are so willing to “whoop” a baby this young especially. One quick little bop on the butt is one thing. I haven’t really decided how I feel about spanking older kids cause I feel like there’s a big difference between abuse and spanking. I got spanked as a kid and so did my siblings I don’t consider us being abused. We were older though. THIS KID IS NOT EVEN OLD ENOUGH TO UNDERSTAND WHY THESE PEOPLE ARE HITTING HIM. I’m not trying to justify what the Dad did and I’m especially not going to to stand behind the reasons he did it and the age of that child when he did it. Leaving red marks is obviously bad to do on such a young baby but bruises are much worse for sure.

I got whoopens as a kid so when I had my own, I did time out. Whoopens made me angry and rebellious. I couldn’t imagine hitting my babies. Even when they were bad because I was tired or overwhelmed, I just walked away but I made sure they were safe at the same time.
