@Matt Daggett: This song was listed in the top ten on Billboard’s country singles charts - it got loads of radio airplay. Commercial music doesn’t necessarily mean bad music.
@@freebird97hd: I know exactly what he meant and I’ve been hearing that same tired old cliché for as many decades as I’ve been alive…including “They shore don’t makem like they used to”, referring to home construction. This is without a doubt the greatest 🙌 vocal band that has ever graced country music. Their harmonies are almost other wordly, and I personally believe they are the only band that can compare to The Eagles. The dynamics of lead vocalist (Larry Stewart) and the background vocals of bassist (Paul Gregg) are very reminiscent of Don Henley and Glen Fry.
Well I’m not saying this to be rude so I hope this sounds ok. I love Restless Heart but Alabama has always been amazing along with the Oakridge Boys. When you start comparing someone to The Eagles, well I must say to listen to The Statler Brothers first. Now that is a group who will always first before the Eagles
@@Clizzy9 I still work in Country radio. Luckily we are classic country and we play this song, KKOW AM in Kansas and KPGG in Texas (if you want to listen) :-)
@Kelli O'Neil I grew up in Waco, TX and now live in Lincoln, NE (so much freakin corn). I am a huge Restless Heart fan. My Pandora station has bands like this and McBride and the Ride. I'll have to look up your station in Kansas. USMC buddy of mine lives in Topeka. Semper fi.
Can't think of any other song where a mandolin sounds so perfect (I'm sure there are some) This one just tears me up every time. And whoever plays Dancy is perfectly cast.
Oh how I miss dancing to this song. I can close my eyes and be right back to a night with great friends & dancing with a certain someone. Those were the days.
This is one of my all time favorite still to this day. I do remember country fans saying it wasn't country enough and it sounded too much like pop music. I didn't agree with them however 😂
This song speaks to us all at a deep level. No matter how good/virtuous you are and try to be there is always an inner darkness that you must deal with even if that darkness is unrealized.
Like Jesus said to the man known as the rich young ruler " who is good, but God ?" , making the point that the man was missing who Jesus was ( and DID claim to be, with His I AM statements among others ). Anyways, no one actually IS good. We are all corrupt. Just learn to please others and ourselves by being what we call good, but which God doesn't see as true good, as we do it for ourselves and if provoked or tempted enough, we'd sell out ( usually rationalizing/justifying it to ourselves). Which is why we are LOST apart from redemption in Jesus. We sin because we ARE corrupt, and there was no other way to fix that, much less to also pay justice for all of the acts of thought, attitude and deed which flow out of it. All we can do is surrender in gratitude and choose to trust Him. BUT, yes, we can go further and further down paths of depravity and twistedness ! And a born again one who's lived for the Lord a long time can in a moment yield to a temptation or snap under provocation. Every second that even we who are His, aren't loving Him above all, we fail in countless ways, unusually less obvious or outward ways.
The older gentleman who is Dancy favors my Daddy - it gave me quite a jolt when I first saw the video. I had heard the song but not seen the video; it is a great song but the video really makes it. I miss my Daddy.
Love how the drummer seems to pull this song forward with playing just before the beat on some of the transitions! Great band! Nothing in current "country" music can compare.
I watched this song on my radio decades ago when it eas in the charts. Bob Kingsley did every Sunday the American Country Countdown on the radio. Every Sunday my Twinbrother and me listened to the top fourty country songs when we were young men. Lot of memories come up. This song is one of their best
Restless Heart never gets old. I been listening to them for over 30 years and can listen for 30 more. It soothes my soul. Thank you for all your songs. Every. One is Great ! U guys always been my favorite or atleast in the top 3.
Great song by the very talented band of Restless Heart. I believe they are urging any men and women for that matter to reconcile with their consciences from the guilt that Dancy carried and is carrying till this day, there is still forgiveness in Christ. Romans 3:23 and 5:8 Love this country song. Amen!
That state of where you are and where you were is a tremendous statement! Perfectly said in one sentence. Our past is just that "PAST" ! Sadly our past will always weight effects on the present and future; wether we want it or not. 😕
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Anyone, no matter how righteous of heart, can be led astray by the wrong person(s), doing things they would normally never be capable of, and regretting it afterwards.
I think my favorite thing about this group is that that even when Larry Stewart left the band, they didn’t miss a beat . They just shared lead vocals and had some of their best songs.
This is my favorite Musik of resstles heart, super video and the story about danci, beautiful voices, and I like the mandolin, I am a Greek but hell yeah! I love country music!
First time I heard this song was on the radio while pulling guard duty in the Yakima Training Center on a Tac Eval while watching the sunset over the desert. It was amazing. Next morning we got recalled back to Ft. Lewis to prep for Desert Shield. Because we were back a week early I caught my wife having an affair. This song has never left my mind in 32 years now.
I loved them yr right got to eat dinner with all the band they were really cool down to earth like they knew you for along time it was my first time to meet them I loved it,
This is a beautiful tragedy but demonstrates what it is to be a real man. As the head of his househild, Dancy leads his family to Christ despite any temptation. This performance is as good as its ever been or ever will be IMO.
I have always loved Restless Heart- makes sense I would sing it to my daughter when she wouldnt sleep ( I know all the words without thinking- especially helpful at 2 am lol) For some reason this one was always her favorite.
Dostoevsky talked about the criminal needing to repent his crimes to ease the burden of his conscience. Dancey never got around to that part so everything stays bottled up inside. He still sees the dead husband he killed after a fight over having an affair with his wife. He struggles with what he could have been in life as opposed to what he actually is in real life, a killer. The problem is he has probably been a good person ever since too. How many people struggle trying to reconcile these two opposing forces of good and evil working together and simultaneously tearing each other apart in the soul of one tormented human being?
It was a setup and the pimp came in to rob him. In the video the pimp points her out and tells him the price. He feels guilty because he killed a man because he was somewhere he shouldn't have been.
