Old ERRA is so slept on….Augment was the soundtrack to my first year of Uni
Junior year of college for me but same. Loved this album walking to classes.

Yet he trashed this beautiful album in his full album reaction and funny part i paid for that shit , he purposefully uploaded this track reaction to make us think that he will like the album so that we pay for his patreon thinking he will enjoy the album that you love, but guess what he trashed the album, he's very clever bro. He uploaded Dementia reaction to lure his subs into thinking he will love the rest of the album but he didn't even appreciate anything on it and I was shocked 😲 he fanboys over fit for a king generic bullshit choruses and doesn't even give a single con to it that's when i came to know he's just a biased crappy reactor.
Garrison KNEW exactly what he was saying. He was a fucking POET. God, I miss him. Love JT, but Garrison, man. Garrison was on another level.
Lyrically. This was definitely their peak. I feel like Self-Titled comes kinda close, but jfc the writing on Augment has yet to be matched imo.

The thing for me with Erra's lyrics in general is how vague and, like, nebulous they are; it's hard to cling to a subject matter when the title of the song is something inane like "MYTHUS CORTEX". As someone who listens to their music for the ambience and soaring melodies, the lyrics have always sounded pretty pretentious to me. With a song like "Dementia" though, I instantly know what the subject matter is so I can get a grasp of the emotional weight behind the lyrics, in turn giving the different sections of the song and the "journey" it takes you on, purpose. That's why it's my favourite Erra song. With a lot of their other songs though, it feels like big words thrown together for the sake of ambiguity. Still love their music though, I just generally don't care for the lyrics.
Garrison's vocals when reciting those beautiful lyrics will surely send your soul into different dimension

@@lifeisbeautiful7361 true but they were all around the same age and no matter which way you cut it, this is some crazy good songwriting and musicianship from a group of dudes that young.
Dementia is such an amazing track; it's such a beautiful juxtaposition between what dementia is to the patient and the family trying to deal with the reality of it. I could go into why it's so meaningful but I shalln't and simply say that it's still the ERRA song that I compare all subsequent songs to. And thats not to say they can be compared; Safehaven is probably the closest to Dementia in terms of message and structure, but just general enjoyment of the songs. And I ruddy like ERRA. :D

I completely agree. As an ERRA fan since Impulse, the emotions this song makes me feel every single time I listen to it...you just can't compare any other song to Dementia. And that's saying something considering ERRA's insane list of bangers.

Alan’s riffs are so fantastic, we’ll never hear ERRA sound like this again. however, Alan’s band The Artificials has plenty of riffs that sound like ERRA before Alan and Garrison left

@@masonzacharias706 HA. On what level? Garrison has more power and range and that amazing rapid delivery style. Preference of tone is one thing but on a technical level Garrison stomps JT.
This song is such a beautiful reminder to cherish your existence. All things come to an end but just like this song it's the journey that makes it worth it!

I like how far Erra have gone and definitely appreciate their later stuff, but Augment is such a perfect album. Maybe down to nostalgia but their melodic stuff (Impulse and augment) when Alan was in the band is god tier.

yes I saw this song live too!! we the few had a rare experience. Ive also seen them perform Dreamwalker and Frostbite instrumentally.

@@soothingzounds73 if somebody asked me what song(s) best represent progressive metalcore I would suggest stranger things by periphery and this song. I think the self titled album is their best work as a whole but this is their best song. Easy.
Goated album. Alpha Seed to this day still has my favorite chorus in all of metalcore. I’m a huge fan of their last three albums, but this is an unbeaten masterpiece in my opinion.

as someone who preordered impulse like 10 years ago when nobody knew these dudes this record and impulse can never be topped but it’s cool to see so many fans dig JT and everything with their new stuff
Augment is peak Erra, Alan's riffs were wildly important to this band's sound and they've never gotten that magic back. Their most recent was very good, but this still slaps it.
They had a unique sound. Their new stuff sounds like they try to copy Tool or something.
Facts Alan, Garrison and Adam made ERRA, they lost the magic when those three left

Freaking love this album, personally my favourite from them, so technical but so emotional also, crazy soundscapes and full of feelling melodies. Plus vocals and solos are also killer!

They'll never come close to topping this album. They haven't been the same since Alan and Garrison left.
I started listening when they released Moments of Clarity, and while Augment was my favorite, I think their self titled album is just as good. I also loved Drift when it released which I know many people did not, but I really disagree with saying they'll never come close to what they've done before
@@Ep1cRainbow their self titled is good but doesn’t hit like augment or impulse those albums had an aggressive sound. Their new stuff like vanish canvas, shadow autonomous, divisionary etc, they’re good it’s just soft sounding bruh! It’s not bad. I just prefer their old aggressive sound.
You just had to be there for the releases to get it. No one was doing this. not even close. I remember when they ran alongside Elitist in numerous tours. so much facemelt.

Pattern interrupt has some crazy vocals man, jesse KILLS IT in that song

Old erra will always be the best. Moments of clarity, augment and impulse will forever be their 3 best albums. Was fortunate enough to see them with the OG line up with reflections OG line up too. Those boys killed that show.
Saw this song live a couple years ago. Can say Jesse a lot of the time will play the rhythm parts while singing and when not singing the lead BUT during this song he just shredded and sang the entire time. I’ve never comprehend how

this album in its entirety has been in my top 10 since the day it came out and i don't think anything will ever move it. i love ERRA's growth and their new sound and what they're doing, but i'll always have a soft spot in my heart for this album

Man I gotta go back and check out this album. Really like their newest album but I reeeally dig the kiiiiinda throwback sound of this song.
Also Grayscale Season dropped a new song last friday called "Slow Emotions" with a music video so if you wanna feature the boys on the channel this would be a great song to do that with. Easily the most different and unique out of the new singles
Erra wasn't as big with this album but it's awesome to see their popularity growing and people checking out their older stuff. Augment is a great album and this song is one of my favorite Erra songs of all time.

Crazy how much they’ve grown and developed as players and songwriters, especially considering how good they already were by the time this album dropped
There's no development here in the new stuff, all they did was charge their sound so much that it doesn't even feel like erra, they lost their identity

The self titled album and the deluxe songs are their magnum opus in my opinion. I recognize the quality of Augment, it's truly terrific. I don't think it's far fetched to say that the self titled album is the Augment for the current member lineup
I agree 100%. As much as I love the self-titled, Augment will always be my favorite ERRA album.
I actually haven’t listened to this album before and I gotta say I am VERY impressed. But that being said I still looove self titled. But hey I am new to the band

Jesse just flexes in this song, they need to write another 8 min song where he just goes off. Also ERRA's actual genre is dictionary-core

I always compare this song to Selkies: The Endless Obsession by Between The Buried And Me. The songs both have a somewhat similar intro riff, and an emotional solo filled outro, which is what everyone listens to the song for.

I rarely call an album a masterpiece, because there really is no perfect album. No matter how much my fan side loves an album, but jesus. This album is still one of the best in metal, imo. I wish Garrison will still in the band, though.
I don't dislike their newer stuff, but JT is just so damn monotone that it gets hard to listen after a while.
Agree but you gotta appreciate that JT at least tries to change things up a bit more on the new album. He's def much improved from the previous two records he did with them.
