Most people will not become successful. In order to become better than everyone else you should have a strong self control. Most people lack that. If one lacks emotional control and do things based upon feelings, that man will not become successful.
So in order to be ahead of everyone you must develop strong sense of self control. Don't let things control you emotionally in which you have zero control over.
