I love California City, but I'm a senior person living in Senior Housing, which is owned and run by the City. And I'm very grateful for it. My favorite thing about the City is it's diversity in people and everybody being so nice. The kindness I'm shown as a Senior is amazing, from both the young and the old. The wide streets and little traffic are also a bonus. I believe the city will grow and be 'one of a kind' in its fruition. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

I have 2 lands in California city for the last 25 years. I'm still waiting for the city to boom but nothing's changed on my lots n my land now is only worth $1000 or less and I spent over $100k owning it with nothing on it but dirt.
    Oct 2022 I'm still waiting

Wow I’m looking to buy land in cal city. Is it worth it? As far as investment. I moved from San Francisco to Bakersfield and want to buy land out there in CalCity

@@californiamade5608 if you like the valley desert weather it's very very affordable land. There is a small town with a Walmart, airport navy base n a Starbucks. If you like peaceful quiet place, I would recommend it.
It's also on top of the states bigger aquafurs so plenty of water deep underground.
Also bout an hour from LA but you won't hit any traffic till LA.
Down side for me is I dnt like desert extreme cold n the heat waves are pretty pad.
      Just depends on your lifestyle

how did you end up racking 100k bill owning it? it's only a land right? i looked up the property tax rate and it's like 1 percent of the current land value. 🤔🤔

    • @averagejoe413
      @averagejoe413 Рік тому +1

I was jus let upset. Total was more than $30k total for two lands over 25 years with property tax of $400 a year per plot. Paid $15k at that time for a lot now worth only $500 and another land for 10k. The 10k land I was told from the county it's worth zero. People are still buying the land in that area for cheap as possible and reselling them higher in hopes to make a profit. Mostly government weed farms are growing in and around the main city. Some ppl still use their land for dirt biking, camping n tiny raves in the desert.

The big problem are: not development, not industries, factories, utility services ( second zone) it’s big territory but the building because the city hall don’t continue with the basic utilities, how the people can to move”””. The lands are all sold. The people wants to move there; without utilities is imposible.

What brought us to Cal City/ Mojave was Edwards Air Force Base.
I can see this small town, not a city, only in name, is still having the same issues it did back in the 80's and 90's.
Cal City Airport is what kept the town's head above water. After The Ready Room burned down, the city wanted to take the insurance money and build a big golf course. We were against this. The airport is what brought revenue to the city. The golf course (the old one) was a waste of money. Now, they have a big golf course and they still don't have money. This is the fault of the mayor and the city council.
Listening to the new mayor, she's not there to help Cal City. She sees a big check when things work out. She has already failed Cal City.
These people have no understanding how to operate the town of Cal City.
Cal City Airport used to have airshows, they used to have a sky diving school, not anymore.
Anything that would bring in REAL money, they're against. They're trying to force their will on the city and when the city rejects it, they blame it on something else.
This is what happens when someone comes in and knows nothing about the desert.
Cal City residents needs to remove EVERYONE from the mayor to the city council and start over.
40 years later and they're still complaining about the same thing.
Cal City will never be more than it is. The mayor and city council wasted money to have a prison, a school system, and a big golf course and you still can't balance the budget.
You've destroyed the real income of Cal City for you're false imagination's of what you want the city to be. You can't do that without consequences. If you go back and look at the books. Find why Cal City was better during my day's than today.

I think Adelanto beat you to it unless you have more water. The cannabis "industry" is also reaching a saturation point. I know the area well, lived in Lake L.A. for 15 years, loved it there. I live in Southern Nevada now where dreamers/speculators are trying to build Coyote Springs; history repeats itself.

This report reminds me of California's ambition to provide low cost housing for its population priced out of the expensive urban cities in the North and South of the state. Granted, two things (among perhaps 2 or 3 more) must be present to support growth in a place like California City: water and jobs. Cannabis might be the spark to light job growth, but somehow water has to be factored in there, too. What about solar and wind energy? If they have solar and wind farms in the upper deserts around Los Angeles, in the Palm Springs and regions south of L.A., why has this not occurred in California City? RV tourism? Sports venues? Gambling (e.g. Casinos). Sure, I'm getting ahead of myself, as did Nathan Mendelsohn.

You'll need a bullet train to get people in California City from LAX or downtown Los Angeles. In the early 1980s my father's friend sold home lots in Palmdale and Lancaster to Filipinos in the Philippines. They had an office in Makati City and I knew it was a big hit 🎯. I think the bullet train system would appeal to the Gen Z group in USA .
