It would have been the perfect filler game between our back-to-back games of Ascension Tactics! 🤣 I think you'll really like it-and if you don't play it before then, maybe we can play it together this summer! 🌼 Quack! 🦆
I watched many of your solo Sunday videos and find them immensely helpful for me to understand how the games work and I really admire your design of these videos to both make real donations to charities and educate people about them! Such a wonderful project, thank you for doing it❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much for your very kind comment, Jerry! ☺️ I'm glad you like the Solo Play Sundays so much! I'll be doing a Mycelia solo playthrough very soon-do you have a charity you'd recommend for a future video? 🍄
Little did I know 10 years ago I would have the privilege of working with a future UA-camr and fellow board game nerd until I stumbled on your channel and a flood of memories came back from my time at Bob Evans in Lancaster, PA and hiring a young server working his way through college at that time. Congrats on the channel and your career in teaching David! Enjoying the channel and finding new additions to fuel my board game addition.
Cole!! Wow... I'm not sure I could think of a single person I'd be more surprised to see in the comments section of one of my videos!! How on earth did you come across my channel? ☺️ So you're a big board game fan/fellow nerd? I'd love to know what kind of games you're into! What are you up to these days? Are you still in the Lancaster area? Can't believe it's been so long since my Bob Evans days... I still go back there from time to time! It's changed so much! ☺️
@@BoardGameDave I was watching a Top 10 Best Solo Games video to get an idea of what is coming out in the new year as I play with my family but also enjoy playing solo games and you were featured in a video with Quackalope, immediately recognized your face and mannerisms, and then found your channel. Love board games and RPG’s and trying to foster that love in my daughter. I love playing old school games (Clue, Settlers of Cattan, Trivial Pursuit) to RPG’s (DND, Pathfinder, Mice and Mystics) to kid friendly games (Trash Pandas, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza, Slay) to solo games (Falling Skies, One Deck Dungeon). I just recently backed an awesome game on Kickstarter, Necromolds, that I’m looking forward to getting and playing this year an enjoy painting minis for Warhammer, Bone Forest, etc. I live in Berks County so not too far from Lancaster and make frequent trips down there to hike and kayak. Haven’t been to the old Bob Evans in many years but imagine it’s changed. Look forward to seeing more games on your channel!
Fun little game! The scoring pad is a bit genius. Also, well done creating this solo variant! It seems to work super well 👏 Looking forward to playing an original BGD Board Game one day! (Great charities also!)
Thank you for checking out this playthrough, Emma! (The scoring pad is great, right?) ☺️ And thank you-it's not anything special but it's playable and I figured it was worth sharing! Maybe there'll be a game designed by myself out there someday... maybe! 😉
Thank you so much for trying out the solo variant and for the comment, Dominika! At least it’s super quick so you can just reset and try again! ☺️ You got this!
That box size and those colors got my attention. Although I have no idea how it plays with multiple people, solo seems interesting. Although, I think I am very bad at dice rolls; which is weird considering it is mostly luck. I think it’s awesome that you do score-based charity. Gives better motivation to score higher 😊
Right? Love the tiny box and vibrant (but also pastel) colors! 🎨 So playing multiplayer is almost exactly the same, except everyone rolls their eleven dice at the beginning of the game and then each turn they choose a die and move that many spaces-that's it! (And no gusting dice off the board!) That's pretty much all you need to know! ☺️ Thank you for the kind comment! (And yes, I do find I'm more motivated to do better!)
Recently traded for this game and played it with my wife and daughter a few times. Then I remembered you did a solo play, and I didn’t see any solo rules in the box. Came back here and found that this was your own creation. Well done! Played a few solo games and enjoy it. Although it seems my dice are always the ones removed by the AI players lol.
So glad you got a copy of this game! What did your wife and daughter think? 🌼 Yeah, it’s just a little solo variant I came up with! Are you winning, at least? ☺️ (Yeah, those pesky AI players knocking off your dice, right?)
@@BoardGameDave They enjoyed the game. It plays so fast, even if you don’t enjoy it the game is over before you realize lol. I’m 0-2 solo. Lost by 2 points once. Will keep trying!
@@ImaginEric Haha, exactly! 🤣 Hannah and I average about eleven minutes per game! Perfect for when you don’t have a ton of time! Good luck with the solo! You got this! 👊🏼
Thanks for doing this. I will look to try it. The mechanics used look of value. When I try to design solo, I view opponents as environmental challenges rather than bots to beat. I also want to do a 4 player variant for it. All I need is some white dice. Amazon has it on promo mode now. When I searched for simple area/control/influence games, this game came up in search.
So glad you stumbled across this review! It is a great simple area/control/influence game for sure! 🌼 And I don't see why you couldn't play with four players! Let me know how it goes! Thanks for the comment!
I did try the variant and it gave a feel for the game. It is now part of my filler rotation with nongamers, so I say the variant is useful for learning the game and also I see it working as a nongamer version. This being said, I did one rule wrong and created a solo annihilation variant. In the annihilation variant, regardless of the space the dummy player lands on, it annihilated to the middle of the table matching dice. I realize I need to try it again with a bounce back lower number instead. The annihilation variant goes Oppenheimer of spaces and is a destroyer of worlds.
I plan on doing other variants on it, including 4 players and ways to make it a more pure abstract strategy variant. For more players, likely need at least one more space. I also think have all players simultaneously select what die they use. Variable abilities and spaces can be added to the extra space. By the way, I saw the game turned up at a local Barnes and Noble for $20.
I've always loved the design of this game and the fun thematic tie-in. I'm playing a lot of solo games these days, so might end up picking this up and pulling it out between plays of heavier games. Speakng of heavier games, I'm just getting into Euros. Just completed my first solo play of Tiletum: learning to operate the bot player was a lot to digest, but in the end the game was a blast. Have you tried it?
Hey there, James! Thanks for checking out this solo playthrough! It's a great super-simple solo game for when you just want a light experience! (Plus it's a great 2-3 player game, too!) ☺️ The Euros are my favorite! I haven't played Tiletum yet, although that designer pair (Tascini and Luciani) is one of my favorites! Tell me all about it! ☺️
Hey there, Marty! Thanks for checking out the video! ☺️ With such a simple ruleset in this game there wasn't too much of a process, really! Just coming up with an idea and then playtesting it a bunch!

These Sundays videos are so nice! Good job Dave!
Thank you so much for checking it out, Richard! I've got to swing by your channel and check out more of your playthroughs! ☺️

Dave I seen this game on your Instagram, now my copy is on the way 🎲 😎
That's awesome, Marty! Dandelions is such a relaxing and cute game! I hope you enjoy it! 🌼

I can't wait to hear your thoughts! Please post an update when you've had a chance to try it! 🌼
Well this one looks pretty colorful, I will add it to my (way to long) „I want it“ list, haha
It's such a tiny, portable box and fairly affordable, too! I think it's a great game for almost any collection! ☺️
Excellent solo mode Dave! I bought the game today and already got destroyed by the AI. Dominika

Hey there, Marty! Thanks for checking out the video! ☺️ With such a simple ruleset in this game there wasn't too much of a process, really! Just coming up with an idea and then playtesting it a bunch!
