Working as a flagger for many years, drivers get angry very fast. A patrol car near by always helped.
I have my Flagger's card what is a good company to work for that will hire right away? I have a clean background check & 2 years experience as a temp flagger.
I see so many senseless situations on Seattle area roads these days that I'm reluctant to drive anywhere. I see people running red lights, speeding, cutting people off, more than I ever have in my life... and I drove the freeways in L.A. for 8 years. Some drivers can't be inconvenienced or made to slow down for 2 seconds without going nuts.

Guy with a hammer was attacking cars and attempting to attack people. He had stopped traffic, not law enforcement. What are motorists expected to do when someone blocks lanes of traffic with his car and wanders around on the highway?
Does anyone really think a social worker or a mental health counselor would be effective in someone who is violent and in crisis? Counselors DON’T HAVE MAGIC WORDS OR MAGIC TRUCKS TO CALM VIOLENT PEOPLE DOWN.

I mean, who knows, but they definitely had enough time to cover it up. I hope a outside resource is in charge and not the state patrol at this point. I think they said SMART was taking the lead. Ironic name for the overcome of events.

I lived in Washington for over 30 years and I have seen WSDT do some really stupid things. Most of the time they sit in their trucks keeping warm.

It would not be so bad if there is more transparency. Hammer is a non lethal weapon to a trained professional. I was a US Marine. Hammers are easy to disarm and avoid.
Surprised? This is Washington. They destroy the city of Seattle by declaring murder "a Summer of Love" and then get Police Protection 24/7 for themselves paid by those idiots who still pay taxes in Seattle.
And the citizens wonder 'what's taking so long?!' when they have an emergency. Defunded. Hated by the community Officers still expected to save those who hate them.

There were nearly 6 more accidents just before the 529 bridge from Marine drive in Everett. 3 blocking from the main drag to the bridge by the hospitals and on just before it. Passed 2 more when I turned around to go south bound again. Those were impatient drivers in the backed up neighborhoods leading to the bridge...
We sat there just blocks from the hospital on a side street before we headed south to get a room and wait it out. Even after they opened up the freeway it would be hours before you could get out. We still had a two hour drive to get home. City services were choked but local businesses did really well for a Thursday night...
Seattle better get it together. It’s gonna be a dying city. It pretty much is a dying city. It could be one year and no one will go there. And the homes and the people that live there will be leaving selling if they can and then that will be flooded with God knows what you want change this state Washington state has a terrible record for voting. Vote probably need to vote differently and vote like your grandchildren’s life depends on it.

@@californian1459 I lived in Seattle for 23 years (finally got sick and tired of the MISERABLE weather, and locals who all hate Californians, and moved back to SoCal). Everett was ALWAYS a pretty rough area, it’s sad to see the crime now SPREADING all over the Puget Sound area!!

@@semicountryliving3095 …..I had a GREAT job in Seattle for 22 years, also, my mother retired up there for some reason, and I wanted to help her in her old age. When I moved up there in 1996, REAL ESTATE was dirt cheap, and I was able to buy 3 houses over ten years (renting out 2). In 2018 I was OVER the miserable weather (summers were GREAT…..but way too short!), and many locals didn’t like me because I was a “true Californian” at heart, I always wore my LA Dodgers hat instead of a Seahawks hat, I wore my Malibu T-shirts, raved about In-N-Out burger……they all pretty much couldn’t stand me! 🤷🏼♂️😂😎. My mother died eventually, I cashed out the 3 houses (which had TRIPLED in value over 10-22 years), RETIRED, and moved back to beautiful Calabasas……life is TOO SHORT!! (now I appreciate every day!!!). 😎👌😀
I want to know why a gun was drawn and not a non lethal forms exhausted before lethal force was used on a guy with a hammer? I mean, you could have just kept his distance, right? Yeah, this guy was a danger, but not just to others but himself. I really hope lessons are learned from this situation to have better responses in the future. 😢
He charged at the trooper. The only thing to learn is not to charge at the trooper. Stupid actions earn stupid prices.
I saw a video of it. The guy was yelling at the cop while walking away from him, cop wasn't aiming his gun at the guy. All of the sudden the guy turned around and charged the officer, and almost got to the officer before the cop shot him. Watching the video, I don't blame the cop one bit.
According to you - they should have called in a Social Worker to make sure he has an alibi for doing what he was doing - a poor childhood. That he puts the life of people "who work" in danger - well - that according to you is of course the risk of a road worker.
Exactly, and he was outnumbered. Why was a shot fired that close to traffic before other means of subduction had been tried. Totally irresponsible behavior.
Well, I watched the video. The dead guy...Apparently was tryi g to car jack people. The Trooper could have just used his car to block traffic and wait for backup. It looked like a cop assistanted suicide.
I watched exactly what happened. This was a cold blooded murder by that cop, the man had no weapons on him and wanted a punch up and the cop put 3 bullets in his chest at cold point blank.
