man.... i remember when gameshelves looked like that.... then one day all of a sudden it just changed.... like every shop all in one day, a secret agreement... "get rid of all cartridges"
The best thing about Bookmans is the big selection of Strategy Guides and how cheap they are. I feel their N64 and gamecube are overpriced but I often go there to see what's new and if there's anything I can't live without.
I like how they package their games and put them on a shelf organized. Very impressive compared to what i have seen in a lot of other stores.
Well, that was a fun commercial.
I love the layout of that place,,, the retro stores by me have everything in a glass case or behind the counter,
That's a cool store. I like how they display their games like they were in those game's heyday.
Amwesoem what a geat surprise cameo! Jason is a great guy I love his videos :) I love the retro feel of having the old school ames hung on peg hooks, especially the genesis games. Even if it is for security purposes it still looks great!
I wonder if they have this store in every state. They should have at least one in every state.
The Bookmans in Flagstaff, Arizona had its roof collapse. I was out there on vacation looking forward to checking one out, all others being almost 3 hours away. They have pictures of the damage on their website.
Hey Hey Gamerster81 i'm a big fan of your channel :)
Man I love Bookman's, you know this is an older video because the nes game section at the 19th and northern is very small now.
Some really nice looking places there. I would love to visit them when ever I'm in the area.
Dude, I'm getting homesick from watching this! I Love Bookman's!
My jaw has dropped....thanks for uploading this! Me and some of my buds are gonna have to make a "pilgrammage" here...even though we're only in Cali, but still wish we had one of those here!
wow, both of those stores looks a lot nicer and have a lot more stuff than the Bookmans on Grant in Tucson! Hopefully next time I come through Phoenix I can drop by that bookmans!
I remember when I first found out about this store in like 2000 or so... I bought sooo many game systems for next to nothing and they had an Atari bin, and all the games in there were .50 each, regardless the title!
Bookmans looks like a really cool place for retro fans. Like an Aladdin's cave full of retro gems. The prices are good too.
Also, I'm tempted to try and find a black Dreamcast now.
Thanks for a great video.
i take it store theft is a big problem there, putting $5 items in plastic security cases is total overkill.
Damn Gamester. You'd totally be the guy I'd wanna chill with and play video games the entire day.
That is so awesome man...I need to see if there are any stores like Bookmans or gamedeals in New England.
big fan of Bookmans We have Three here in Tucson az. Just bought my 360 from bookmans!!
Incredible store. WOW.
Ack, looking at all those games is so tempting...
Great video and a awesome store to pick of some classic gaming goodies!
@mrserv0n18 Adam did the filming. Jason did the editing. I think the editing is very unique and fun. You're entitled to your opinion of course.
ahhh so this is bookmans! looks great!! hey is that your cam John? great depth of field shots looks really good!
@Caztro72 i used to live around the corner from this store and i can personally tell you that anything turbo graphx is very rare in this store.if it does come in its usally gone in a week.there is a 7 day window from the time its traded in or sold until it hits the floor.after that its usually gone.this store is that popular.in 2 days time i spent $800 there
My all time favorite store
Bookman's is great. I found Super Metroid, and Yoshi's Island in the one in Mesa earlier this week. I also saw a Harvest Moon game that's been sitting there for days with a $60 tag. LOL! The swap meets in Phoenix are cool too. Rocket Knight and both Earthworm Jim games were mine for the taking there. I don't think too many collectors raid those palaces often....
Nice video. I'd have to fight the urge to go to that store. Too much stuff. Great editing by Jason too.
Love Bookmans, Im gonna miss it when I move.
i really like the appreciation you guys have for classic games, sega sports dreamcast FTW
Dude, nice editing. This Bookman's store looks like an amazing place, too bad there isn't one in Dallas.
@TyTheGuyReviews Yeah man we'll have to hit it up soon. =)
@fuurious No but I've heard of them. They sound very interesting.
That's what a video game store is supposed to look like, a little bit of everything for everyone.
last summer my aunt was having her wedding in Arizona and I was begging my parents to take me to Bookmans and we did in Phoenix, I was in awe at the games section I really wanted to get a super Famicom but I didn't have the money so I got 2 Dreamcast games which was amazing because I got a game I was looking for, and i got a shirt with a quote from Groucho Marx that says "Outside of a dog a book is mans best friend, inside of a dog it's too dark to read it also says Bookmans so it's my proof
I so wish there was a Bookmans or a DigiPress up here in Canada.
Really awesome that's really an amazing store too bad we dont have those in my country.
HEY EVERYONE LISTEN UP!!!!!!!!!!!!! there is 2 other stores that have old games like bookmans.one is in gilbert on the corner of gilbert rd/guadalupe called gamezone. its in the big lot plaza.i dont know if GAMES PLUS is reopened yet or if they moved.they used to be on the corner of alma school and university in mesa behind KFC.if anyone knows more about games plus let me know, that was my favorite store and it was the last one out of 15
A part of me is glad there aren't any stores like this one where i live. I would not have money left to pay the rent.
Oh my god, if there were stores like that here in the UK. I'd never have any money!
This store is the bomb I wish I had one here in Wisconsin!
I have to admit, quite a gamestore to visit when on a vacation within the area, nothing I haven't arleady seen in my nearby gamestore I haven't seen.. although PC games are a plus XP. AND the prices, HALF compared to mine (Gameworld, seriously, average price for games are $20) I haven't seen all that many boxed games, but I digress. Great store!
Drinking game: take a drink every time they say "classic" or "6 bucks"
AWESOME place.
Bookmans stores are only in Arizona. It says the locations on their website...
I've been trying to find a store around my area like that, and the closest thing I have is this store called The Exchange. It's a good store, but they overprice a lot of things that shouldn't be, such as used DS games that launched with the system for the price of a new copy...They don't have a big selection of NES games either, but the other system are great. I've also seen import games and systems there...
if i ever get a chance to go to AZ, i am so ging to that store!!!
Wow, those stores look amazing. Such a shame we don't have a chain like this in the UK. At least in my backward ass neck of the woods!
this place is great i wish i had one near me. It almost reminds me of another retro game shop called power gamer
@yukmust yeah thats one thing about retro places. prices can fly up if they are too small. might as well be ebay,
Were getting some good stores in my area that sell old school games and stuff but they are no where near as big as this store. but cool stuff, wish i was in AZ right now lol
I LOVED SHOPPING HERE WHEN I LIVED IN MESA.IN 2 DAYS TIME I SPENT $800 THERE LAST MAY WHEN I TOOK MY VACTION.YOU WOULDNT BELIEVE WHAT COMES INTO THIS PLACE LET ALONE WHO
@ss4kronos33 : Oh man! Here in CHicago, TG-16 is very uncommon at thrift stores and flea markets. But I know games and consoles are usually available at our classic game stores. I've heard that TG-16 was really introduced (launched) to only LARGE metropolitan markets...which Chicago is.
Star Craft is still sold boxed at Walmart, Best Buy and Game Stop here but that place looks like Retro mecca. What is better all the stuff looks clean and mint.
@Corad4 A chain of stores that sells retro games.
Cool to see Bookmans on youtube.....
I never heard of this place, I have to check it out. I don't live too far from Mesa :)
wish we had a store like this in scotland it looks ace
@danusty You could always look to see if theres a Play N Trade because that's a chain that sells retro games and at a pretty fair price.
You looked like a kid in a candy store!! I bet people saw you coming down the isles they got out of the way fast, because you look like you were gonna shove somebody!!!! LOL Great video and keep up the good work!
I'd love to see those retro games hung up like they used to be. That's bad ass. In most stores they're collected without cases in a fuckin' bin of sorts - no respect
I lived in Phoenix now GLENDALE i used to go to that bookmans
"Classic" x 1000 = this video.
I kid. Great store!
Another awesome and entertaining vid. That place almost looks like an American Hard Off from Luke Morse vids.
Keep up the good work!
That shop is amazing
AWESOME VIDEO JOHN! I should do a vid of the place where i get my fix!
$11 for Perfect Dark?
I believe I've seen a few MiB going for all of $2 recently. Completely worth it for even $25, though, in my opinion. Amazing game is amazing.
I am actually trying to make a retro game shop in Denmark. It is just quite hard, private echonomy and all. But I got a greater and greater selection everyday.
man we need one of those stores in WA, the best stores we have are Pink Gorilla Games, the Chinatown store is good for import games, but none of them are that big, have that many games, or have that good of deals...
The editing on this video reminds me of MTV Crib's editing lol. That looks like an excellent store.
If only they had something like that here in NB Canada, closest thing we got is EB Games.
They need a Bookmans in the SF Bay Area. The closest thing we have is Half Price Books and there is a very small selection only limited to Xbox, Ps2 and XBox 360 games. =(
wow i wish i had that here in toronto canada... nice video gamester u have to do a review, a close up on that new sega dreamcast looks very interesting to me.
Looks like a treasure chest of classic games.
a shame these are only in Arizona, looks like a great retro game shop!
I would like to make a correction on the sega sports LE. It came with NFL-2K and NBA-2K... I still have mine boxed. It came also with a demo disk and 1 controller.
I hear only 12,000 of them were made but somewhere else I heard only 8.500 were made so I go with the bigger number since who really knows.
God damn, why are all the good places away from where I live. There only Gamestops in Pittsburgh.
You can get starcraft brand new from almost any bestbuy. I alone brought about 3 copies of it in the last 5 years because of the broodwars cd getting scratched. You single handly are making me want to get a 3DO it was such a great system just ahead of its time. Also want to get snes and n64 again. I also have a retro gameinformer of sony talking about the ps3 shortly after the release of the original ps. Awesome channel man keep up the good work.
omg looks like only in the USA will anyone find stores like this that carry so many retro games. our gametraders in australia aint nothing compared to this place, classics in kelso and many others in the states. another reminder to save up my money and get back over there
Gawd. My ctiy need a place like this. I would lose so many dollars to a store like this. Could rebuilt my NES or Genesis collection without getting worked on ebay and shipping charges. The cool thing is the store are charging a reasonable amount depending on the rarity by the sounds of it and not like hiking the prices outrageously.
PS I LOVE the Myst series. I remember playing hours n hours. Had a whole book of notes.
Classic is the word of the day. :))
rad store man, i would love to go check that out someday. silly editing, i like :)
Oh hey, I just heard via Wesley Crusher's twitter that Bookman's is sponsoring Geek Prom!
keep the videos coming man, awesome channel :)
Man i want a store like that in germany or croatia !!
This is my dream!
we need a place like this in england
There is a place in California called GameDude, it's like this place, but looking at this video, I can say Bookmans is a lot better.
All that looks like heaven to me! :-)
I have seen a few black dreamcasts at this one thrift store I got to. How much did you pay and how much are they worth. I think the thrif store that has it wants like >$10
Best place to buy every old console's! I wish this was in my country :(
@suxatguitar1 Hey there, actually.. I went back the next day and bought most of what I talked about! I just had to have that stuff :)
Ok, Bookman's looks very cool.
:16 so that's what stormtroopers do on their breaks and lunches
@seereal12345 I don't believe so. Who is Rene Lopez?
@racooney888 Yeah, but Marvel Vs Capcom 2 is a completely different game then SFII. =)
Damn! I wanna go there tooo!
Do you think they also have this store or similar stores in NY? (Me and a friend are thinking of going there sometime)
Man this video is bananas!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your gonna make me by a plane ticket just to pick up some games. My only question is that do the have the boxes for the Nes games that they had in the clear containers. Kind doesn't bother me in the long run cause I just wanna buy the game without the Ebay's jacked up prices.
Looks cool, but nothing beats Book-Off or Manga Soukou or Super Potato in Japan... those places are true classic gaming meccas
I have actually been tothe phoenix one multiple times
I was just at that same store! :D
