Good to know! I just scored a complete head on up assembly with a timing cover, the sprocket, tensioner two guides, coils, plugs and timing chain. I grabbed the gasket and looks like one cylinder had a leak, though mainly was amazed at the amount of dried oil on top of 1 and 4 cylinders. 2 cylinder had a little wear as well that not sure if will hone out. Glad I passed on the complete engine. Not sure why I got all that at times, though figured appears to be a 2011 with maybe 150K miles on and I have 30 days to return what I don't want to keep. Where as my car has almost 285K miles on, albeit a newer 2013 model. Figured for the 2 dollars admission fee, online videos, chat threads and the University of Luckys Salvage Yard, I'm paying for my lab supplies and cheap I guess lab book.
The thing stinks like plastic in the oil. Different. Will next try to see what I can do that the machine shop would do to the heads. What is used as a shim gasket if the head was warped or off spec and needed machining?
As for timing, I noticed on your intake cam gear placement that there is also a punch mark on the face of just under the hexagon bolt confirming correct yellow link placement of timing chain
If the chain wasn't aligned correctly on disassembly, what is the best way to get it aligned to put it back together? Replacing the headgasket and made that mistake.
Hi. I enjoy your videos very much. When replacing the head gasket on a 3rd gen Prius do you use any silicone as well. I know this is not normal to do this but it strangely shows it in Toyota's manual.
When I match the rectangle notch with the single orange link, it’s slightly too far away for the double orange link to meet the extra notch. I did the paper towel trick like suggested on one of your other videos, but somehow the cam gear moved! When I attempted to move the rear cam gear, it jumped a bunch instead of move a little. So I put it back. How do I rectify this?
@@gasketmasters I can't seem to find the full head gasket replacement video anymore. UA-cam shows it was removed. Any chance you can repost ? I was counting on it to do my 2012 ct200h hg. Thank you
Thank you UA-cam and their mechanics for helping us.

Extremely helpful, my friend. Thanks a Bunch.
Hi. I wanted to know if you can post the prius video by changing head gasket

Only for the cam lshaft assembly and timing cover
Is it possiable to be 180 out on the crank shaft when setting the timming
Roger Kuj no. As long as the marks lineup it is good

Sometimes the cams move even with the paper towel just use a 14 mm open end wrench and turn it slightly
@@gasketmasters that worked! Thankyou! I was seriously concerned that I’d have to pull some serious parts apart!
what's the use of blue cotton on that camshaft ?
fikram acg we use shop towel to lock the cams into place. It’s more understandable if you see it on our full length Prius Head Gasket video
