I love to hear when others use their skills to use whatever it takes to improve their Aikido mastery. Well done and the path only gets better by doing so.

I use chalk at the basketball court. And I do 8 direction Octagon as well. Left and right side. Equal 16 techniques for one movement.

'San kakyu di' is a three point stance between the jo and your feet, and you are not in it.

I do nopt quit understand your point. Please send me a link to you showing the Kata with what you consider correct feet and body alignment. As when doing the Kata's one should think of Suburi and not a dance. This is the way Saito sensei taught us and blocks and strikes should be the delivering of these Suburi's. Your point I need to see to comment. I am not saying you are incorrect, just stating my point of view as you are. Thank you for writing in.

Hello Sensei.. Thanks for your video.. May I suggest you to see this rare document ua-cam.com/video/h2IqritLhhs/v-deo.html since minute 49min0sec. You can see Sensei Saito explaining the Kumijo version of Kata 31.. For exemple movement 13 is not a block but a cut to the wrist of the Uke, and in a forward direction.. It s the most helpful document I have found.. I hope you will enjoy it also.. Greetings from Switzerland.

Yes this compilation of films are great. I have seen them many times. Where sensei shows the point about breaking the wrist is normal and he showed many times how you would "For real" go for their wrists and break it but he also said it is dangerous to train this way and as you may not know your partner it may go wrong and you do not want to hurt anyone if on a seminar. So he told us to hit the Jo rather than wrist. The original no 9 in the 31 we would step forward not back as he shows in all his films, but when I first met him we would step forward and the attacker would slide back and it was very dynamic and wonderful but again too dangerous and he changed it to going back and just show the sweeping motion as in now. He made a jock when in America saying that. there it costs too much to go to the dentist once all your partner's teeth have been knocked out so he said that is why he changed it. At times he was very caring about people not getting hurt. Hope this helps. Please always look at what you can hit/attack as this then makes it more real, if needed.
