  • Cousin Jim shows you the fishing as it happens on Hermosa Beach Pier. From catching bait fish to turning those bait fish into huge table fare such as Halibut, Croaker, or even Sand Sharks (Shovelnose).

Very cool. That’s the pier I started my fishing back in 1980-84. We use to catch yellowtail, big Bonita and white seabass. There use to be a tackle shop and snack shop at the end of the pier.

Curious... Did they keep the shovel nose or send it back? My 11 year old daughter caught her first shovel nose/guitar fish this past Saturday on the same Pier

I go to that pier all the time but what sucks is that a lot of the old dudes that fish there all the time are rude as fk and if you get there and think you are in their way they'll start casting their lines right next to yours or cross your line to try to frustrate you so you leave and if you don't they start moving your rod from where you set it or act like they accidentally kicked it. I don't move I just yell them not to touch my sht and I don't move till they finally get tired of trying to Bully me and they move.

Hope she threw the shark back in the ocean. I don’t think they are good for eating.
