You may or may not be interested to know this, but back in the late 80’ and right through the 90s I used to manage front of house at a restaurant on Devonshire street called Odin’s Restaurant in London (sadly an iconic restaurant now long gone), once part owned by Michael Caine along with Richard shepherd, and Barbara Windsor lived in the mews just off Devonshire street. Every morning she would pass on the way to the newsagents at the corner of the road, and every morning she would say to me “morning Linda, have a great day” as I stood in the doorway, or was out watering the window boxes or polishing the glass in the doorway ready for opening! And one of her best friends was a women who worked in a dry cleaners down the road! That’s how down to earth she was.. even when she came into the restaurant with her then boyfriend, who went on to become her husband, for a quiet meal, she never got irritated if someone came up to ask for an autograph, instead she’d ALWAYS say, when they asked I don’t suppose I could get your autograph “Of course you can, what’s your name darling?” With that great big beaming smile she’s known for!
I wonder if that is the restaurant that the two Ronnie's had a bash at in March 1979, Richard Beckinsale attended the day before he died. Anyway, lovely memories, thank you for sharing.
@ could be, it was owned by the notorious chef Peter Langan then, and Michael Caine came in as partner! Though I suspect it was more likely to be another of his other restaurants called Langan’s brasserie, that was the place to be seen in the seventies! There are sooo many images of drunken celebrities staggering out of there back then! In fact it was still the place to be seen right up until the late 90s early thousands!
@@BennyTheBall8899 it was Langan’s Brassiere as I suspected, the last party he ever attended, here’s a quote I found from Ronnie Barker after I searched Google for richard beckinsale langan's brasserie, thought it might throw the usual images, but also found his comment after his death.. Quote: His passing, so suddenly and so young, was a terrible jolt. We'd been with him only the night before. Ronnie C. and I, and our families, were off to Australia for a year. - There was a farewell party at Langan's Brasserie. All our friends came along, including Richard, but he left early because he had to attend another function. My last memory of him is sitting with Joy, teasing her, pretending to whisper sweet nothings. Then it was, "Cheerio, see you in a year's time - don't stay over there forever," and he was gone, happy and full of life as ever. Thought I’d share it with you! 👍 all the best..
It was actually the brassiere as I suspected, here’s a quote ronnie barker made after his sudden death. I googled Langan’s brassiere / Richard bekinsale, to see what came up. Many years ago, I met Barbara Windsor in London. I spent most of the day with her and her friends. She was a lovely lady. We kept in touch for a few years.
I had not heard of this show before - it finished airing a year before I was born - but what fun it is! I will be tracking down more of it. Thanks for the upload ❤
Thank you CBT, what a wonderful way to end Christmas, and thank you for all the joy and entertainment you have given us all this last year. All the best to you, CBT, and all your subscribers, a very happy new year to you all, and as always stay lucky
He did, the first two series. There's one Cryer episode on YT uploaded by jimproby, with Tessa Wyatt. Unfortunately I believe most of these were wiped - Tyne Tees weren't the best with the archives, and the early episodes from 1976 were made during the company's "difficult period" (the IBA's phrase) where they spent a number of years living hand to mouth; very little remains of the early-mid 1970s archive.
1978 I was 14 years old, sometimes now 60 i wish I could back in time, my life was so much better back then .😢

@@lindathomas5500 Indeed Linda i remember it coming up on the news, I was absolutely stunned, everybody was.I mean 31?😔😔

Barbara Windsor is such a good vibes woman! She lights up this show!
WOW, I just about remember this......I think everyone here is now dead....such a shame....life's too short
The most outstanding thing about this show has to be the size of Norman's tie!!!
Miss Windsor was so lovely in this....

@@Assilem23 I don't think we need age references, do we? 😉
I woulda rather had them reminisce on their lives or the programs shown, What a stellar lot there!
Another great bit of rare tv...fantastic.
Holy smokestacks! I'm a young and limber 65 and I got most of the answers. Very chuffed about that. 😃
Great fun, good too see Max and oh so smooth William Franklyn.

This is fabulous!
Nice to see a telly quiz in which the contestants are not asked to sing telly themes.
"She's a friend. She's a Friend.....Wendy???....Wendy Craig."
Poor old Clive lol.
I laughed at that too.
Gotta be said Babs was a proper sort ❤ Gawjuss
Great show.
Did anybody see Barbara‘s van Cleaf? Necklace
All gone to the comedy house in the sky
I hoped this one might turn up. I remember Deryck Guyler, Lance Percival and others being on it. I thought Barry Cryer hosted some.

so this is what Sgt. Jones looks like in civilian life.
Fantastic absolutely fantastic, Do you have any other episodes of this tv show that you can upload?
Norman losing the audience with his opening gambit. Some talent that.
His 'talent' was equally cringeworthy when he hosted The Golden Shot in 72-73.
Dont think max wall watched alot of telly
One of the worst quiz hosts. He couldn’t even see or hear who was pressing the buzzer. He gave a point away to Dora when Barbara had pressed first.
Money for nothing. Poor excuse for a tv show
By jove , CBT you've done it again ! 🤍💋
