As a white gal from Europe about half his age, this man is every role model to me.. whether a model of intellect, humanity, consistency, artistry... one can aspire to be...

This is simultaneously glorious and a critically important address. Here sits a man of advancing years but still burning with a sincere passion, anger, intellect and persuasive eloquence. I hope, when he passes on, the world honours him for his contribution and continues his work. As a white English male I enjoy a clear privilege that so many of my global sisters and brothers do not. I believe I not only have an opportunity but a duty to speak out in support. As Mr Belafonte expresses with such graceful dignity, people of colour have laid the foundations and it is for we, the current oppressors and the complacent, to build upon them. I can only hope there is still time to do this, but one voice in a crowd is still a voice. That voice must be followed with action or else it becomes hollow lip service. I do not run a constant risk of being pulled over by the police when driving, because of the colour of my skin, of being profiled, brutalised, murdered. So long as this disparity remains, we have a responsibility to reveal it, call it out, debate it and work with as much passion as Mr Belafonte to overturn it.

One of the greatest entertainers and activists left. I do remember him playing a critical role in our course for independence here in Kenya with the late Tom Mboya .I wish him good health

I was there that day and watch this video often. The language is timeless and the lessons innumerable. Kimberly Drew's depth of research, her ability to thoroughly prepare and her clear and open listening allowed Mr. Belafonte to speak from his own most self. Every question was another lesson in time. I smiled watching his face light up as the woman at minute 1:20:59 asked her question and made her request. It's all been said as he reminded us, I found so much comedy, sadness and hope from this interview and I thank #KimberlyDrew for calling forth a message we all needed to hear.

The mind is still sharp. Reminds me of Nelson Mandela. He is a fine American Elder Statesman.

USA For Africa began as an idea Harry Belafonte had for a benefit concert.
Yes, he sang too, but we have him to thank for making it possible.
      A truly remarkable man!
