My take:
The DRV is 1981 Inventions' take on the ubiquitous vintage ProCo RAT. To my ears, the DRV is a more mid-pushed, less brittle, more versatile version of the classic distortion. Still definitely in the RAT ballpark - this is a high-gain rock machine, just probably a bit warmer and creamier, with more usable sounds right out of the gate. Super fun to play! Check it out for yourself if you get the chance.
best demo i’ve seen of this yet! i love that you’re running into an amp that’s breaking up instead of a totally clean amp.
Joshua Codispoti thanks! Yeah I MUCH prefer the sound of almost every overdrive into a pushed amp, especially more aggressive ones like the DRV
Aaron Sternke agreed! that’s how i run all of mine, so it’s nice to hear a demo that starts there. i just got my DRV Blackout and have only had about 15 minutes to mess with it. so it was cool to see/hear your settings for these clips. i’m stoked to really spend some time with it!
Not me
Only the second demo where someone uses it heavy! I appreciate you, sir!
Excellent review! It's incredibly more versatile than I thought. I just ordered the blackout. Now I'm really can't wait for it to come.
Joseph Rice it is pretty great! I actually sold mine and now I’m buying it again because I miss it! 🙄
Just came in the mail today... AMZING. I like a darker cut on the filter and about noon on the drive. Just ridiculous tone. I have a Kiesel custom guitar and push a clean tone through a PRS amp. Just beautiful tone all around.
Fist off, I love the vids man. always a pleasure to watch and you have killer tones. Do you buy all of the stuff you demo? Do you ever get anything sent to you from the manufacturer? Cheers!
Shred Shed thanks for the kind words! And it varies. Some things I buy, some things I get at a discount, some are sent as loaners, and some are sent as keepers.
It’d be fun to hear a comparison with the Excelsior back there.
The rat style drive has never been my flavor but as always, quality video. Cheers!
So happy to see the Revstar getting some love!
I've really been liking it! I put 11s on it (because that's what I play) and tweaked the setup a bit
Aaron Sternke I’ve been digging the Sheraton as well. Actually favored it over the Ibanez as153 so returned the Ibanez!
Love it! It's great when things work out like that :-)
Hello, connect my pedal for 100 days to a 12V eliminator, my pedal works perfectly, but I'm afraid of some internal damage. How can I check it?
Sorry if you have already answered this, but what is your direct or dry sound? It’s super nice for each guitar even before you used the pedal.
How the hell do you get a useable tone with the CUT knob at noon, never mind at 7 o clock!!!! Guitar must be incredibly dark
Haha yeah this guitar specifically is extremely dark
What kind of desk is that? Thanks
Stevie Knighten Output Platform Desk 👌🏼
Dope!! Thanks!@@AaronSternke
use clean sound
Sir ,for high gain pedal option ,Invention DRV or Suhr Riot?
Never tried the Suhr Riot, but I've heard good things!
I play guitar for church by the way 😎💪
Here's a distortion pedal everyone wants being demoed with a guitar nobody's ever heard of going into an amp nobody owns that's too distorted to hear any characteristic of the pedal. I applaud how shiny this turd is.
McLguitars you’ve never heard of a Revstar? Yikes.
But yes the amp is too dirty.
@@alexj3007 I was being a little facetious for alliteration's sake. It wouldn't have killed him to use some normal gear for a pedal demo.
How are we supposed to know what a pedal sounds like if you're using your amp's distortion?? Pointless.
