Red Sonja: She-Devil with a Sword - Cracking Unboxing and Review

- Lo! It is written in ancient times that a day would come when great fissures would open in the earth spewing forth primordial terrors from a bygone age! Is that one of those terrors on the horizon? Nay! Tis only the Bard with a video about a Red Sonja statue... but the resemblance is uncanny.
Yea what a turbulent production this video had! It was a rickety old time. Some parts I really liked wound up orphaned and lost to the editing scissors... I wager this may lead to a video of Extra Bits!
Worth the wait fella, superb job. 👍
The love is real, in a totally none gay way.. ;-)
Thank you Bard you produced another great video.
I'm just happy your videos are back.
you know what they say, it comes the point where you have to kill your darlings, but if there is hope for a Bardic Directors cut so to speak , I can not wait to see it. good to have you back.
Does anyone else want a series of audio books (preferably in the paper back Sword & Sorcery genre) read by the Bard?
Not only read, but also commented on!
He really would sell the story well with his enthusiasm alone.
can i send money somewhere for this?
Fighting fantasy!
Aethere Breather yes!
IN THIS HORRIBLE TIMES HE APPEARS AGAIN
GREAR TO SEE YOU BACK!!!
WOOH
In times when we need him, The Once and Future Bearded Bard !
BOAADSWOOD!
Yes, grear indeed!
These*
“The bard is never late, nor is he early, he uploads precisely when he means to.”
I read this in the bards voice
i see a Pratchett reference, i smile and like
@@WayneManor666 Please tell me you're joking.
Perfect.
hahaha
None of my friends will ever understand my childlike joy at hearing someone say muscularity.
But your internet friends are the only friends that matter; for here, we all know of the *muscularityyyyy*
I'm rewatching a lot of the older videos looking for my favorite "look at the muscularity"
I agree. there's not enough "muscularity" in the world...
I like BRRoad sword!!!
My fear is that my sons will never understand me
*_HE COMES BACK TO US NOW, AT THE TURN OF THE TIDES_*
Laughed out loud at that. Excellent work
Sweet jesus this is the end times, THE BARD IS BACK!
Most glories indeed!
No, my friend, it means he is here to save us
who better to tel all of the age?
pip pip!
The best thing about sword and sorcery is, the Dwarf!
Well, if something has a dwarf in it, then the dwarf is the best thing about it!
Even if it doesn't have a dwarf in it, the best thing about it is the dwarf. Hear my words of wisdom.
The Glorious Bard returns! Beautiful and fair is this day!
Best internet personality of all time. That Hero Quest video is so funny. Bwooard Sword!
How blessed we are!
Hail and well met friends! The bard has returned!!!
Beautiful and fair like his beard and hair.
@@dedicatedgamer2500 BRODE SODE!
Initial reaction: Big Tiddie sword lady :D!
After watching video: Ahh yes, sword and sorcery does truly capture a certain element of primal human spirit and the genre resonates with some part of the human psyche that is mostly missing from modern society.
and a lot of modern media now
Truly the return we all need in these trying times.
I'm a simple man. I see a new video by the Bard, I stop everything I'm doing and watch it.
No interest in figures/board games but still get excited when he uploads. We’ve missed you dear fellow.
Thank you for those fine words!
Denizen of The Depths Yes, very well put! His personality is infectious.
@Denizen of The Depths the thing with the bard is that even if you don't share his enthusiasm over sword and sorcery themes, his analysis is so meticulous, extensive, grounded and substantiated that you can apply it to art appreciation in general. For that alone I subscribe and am grateful
A true Bardisan of his craft.
Same. I always thought those statues were expensive rubbish, but his insights are so interesting!
" This ax is a double edged sword "
These truly are troubling times, when a noble dwarf cannot even correctly identify what is clearly an ax and not a sword.
It's a brode sode!
He mean't it metaphoracally :'D
As afterwards it is the only fitting weapon option with the vanquished giant snake
I was in stunned silence for a moment when this notification popped up :) Glad to see you back in the saddle!
Thank you, friend!
"...encompassing the hero's capacity to bodily impose order on a world of chaos..." Beautiful! Always love a new episode of the CRACKING BARDIC BROADCASTS!
The man.
The Legend.
Has returned.
Definitely agree with the axe comments. She definitely needs the axe to make the statue feel complete.
And I think it explains the expression on her face. Why doesn't she have blood on her upper body? Because she flung that axe and it sliced through the monster, burying itself into something beyond it. After retrieving the axe she walks again through the severed beast, looking up at her next victim, some sorcerer or barbarian that thought this would have ended her life. He's about to realize just how wrong he was.
@@JamesSkemp exactly! The face says: "You're next!"
It's not over yet.
Do my eyes deceive me? The legends of his return are true! It's good to have you back once again.
With every sentence, the bard reaches straight to the boy within us and wakes him up. A true act of sorcery. A rare gift.
By the gods how I have missed the voice, the beard and the haphazard knife work. Great to see your beautiful face again man. Looking good.
Please don't make us wait this long again before gracing us all with your UA-cam presence. The world needs the Bard.
Old Stoneface Haphazard? He’s a surgeon with that unboxing knife.
All is well with the world if the Bard is making content.
THE BEST THING ABOUT BARDICBROADCASTS IS THAT HE'S BACK!!!!
IS THE DWARF!
IS THE BROWD SOWD
The tiny furniture
The Bard's back!
The Man.
The Myth.
The Beard.
I would absolutely love a series on Sword & Sorcery from you; talking about the origins, art, interpretations of various topics and stories; either on a humorous or serious tone.
My Dwarf friend, I missed you way too much, please don#t leave us again and make some more videos! It doesnt matter what you talk about, its always interessting and full of muscularity. Greetings from Berlin, germany. Love peace, Devil
You have to do book readings, that would be fantastic.
Conan was life altering for me. Went from playing barbarian with a stick, reading the comics, learning to draw, reading Howard’s stories, and playing D&D.
I almost scrolled passed as I didn’t believe my eyes. Welcome back.
I read her expression as looking to her nex,t much more prevalent challenge, that the snake was just an obstacle before facing the real and more worthy foe.
Agreed, she seems to me to be looking for something. The expression is cold enough that I would even say "hunting" for something.
Exactly what I was thinking. A snake, however formidable, is never the final boss.
Yes, exactly: -Ok, that was easy, whats next?
When times seem most dark, a thoughtful, passionate, insightful, and bearded man burst onto the scene to deliver critiques that other broadcasters only wish to imitate in both content and delivery. Well done, Bard.
Amazing work man. You really need to go full in on this venture. Getting people's eyes and ears for a full 22 mins and 20 seconds is not a feat many can do and I could have easily watched another 22 some mins. You deliver info in a very interesting and exciting manner. The inflection you use with your voice is also perfect! Keep it up bard and keep following your dreams. I can easily picture you on stages at cons and other events around the culture / hobby. Cheers you dwarf bastard you!
But imagine the costs of uploading a video, say, every week, if his content is mostly to be unboxings and artbook reviews. I think he'd run out of material very quickly, unless he'd resort to unboxings of stuff he doesn't really care that much about.
The prophecy of the return of the Great Bard has come to pass! Hail, friend, great to hear your wizened tones one more!
Ah Red Sonja, how I love thee. New to the channel, but hope to see more content! Highly insightful thinking and amusing to boot.
Also, as someone who enjoys much of the same things you so eloquently espouse, I have to recommend the manga Berserk. If you haven't read it, do. Nay, you must!
Just when you think all hope is lost! Wohoo the Bard is back!
Oh my goodness, It's been far too long for another CRRRRRRRRACKING UNBOXING!
So good to see “The Bard” back again! Would love to see a vid where you go thru your shelves of books and games and speak about them. Please don’t stay away too long
sandilar Truly, that would be a delight!
THE BARD LIVES!
I'm genuinely glad you've alive, and seemingly well.
THE QUARANTINE HAS AWAKENED HIM
I knew u wouldnt betray the dwarf in golden axe LMAO
Lo, the prophecy has been fulfilled! The Bard returns in the darkest of times to save us all!!
What a blessed day it is!
For the bard has returned to fill our spirits
with inspiration during these trying times.
Seriously you are one of my favorite creators on this very platform
Oh my lord, The Bard returns to us in our time of need! Glad to see you good sir and we hope all is well and continues to be so.
Bard may I say I was mightily impressed by your natural ability to duel weild hilarity and intelligent commentary effortlessly. I doff my hat to you sir 👏🎬
For me personally her expression works quite well, shows another very important side of her. One of unshakable nerves of steel, that the vile beast has no power over her, especially not her emotions. Sonya might not triumph or gloat over her enemy but she certainly is empowered by averting her gaze and leaving the foe struggling to comprehend her nonchalance while it's bleeding out.
Nonetheless a crackling success of a review and piece of art.
How have we gone so long between cracking unboxing's.......unfathomable!!!! Exceptional again...especial during these dark and ominous times!! Welcome back Bard and keep the cracking coming:)
At long last, the long wait ends!
"The dwarf!" Thanks Bard...your stoic devotion in these uncertain times brings great comfort to a wandering ranger, plucked from his natural habitat and forced to hunker down in some pub....with family....
Bard:Calciyte Slashmasyers
GW: write that down! Write that down!
lol
Without an inch of pretentious over-complexity about them!
The Bard's commentary on violence in the Sword and Sorcery genre is a literary gem that should not be missed. "You matter" :O
Been waiting a year for this. Today is a good day! Thank you. Now I'm sitting down to watch it a thousand times until the next one! Thank you Bard!
I LOVE these films. Honestly, no TV series and no youtuber is a gripping as your videos!
HE´S BACK!!! YEAH!!!!!
I´m totally with you with the axe, but considering the look of her face, i think she killed like a mini-boss (the snake) before entering the mainhall, where the real endboss is waiting for her. So for me, the statue (kind of) works...
HOORAY, the bard is back! We need him now more than ever! Wait, does that mean, with the technical difficulties, we have an unboxing, reboxing and another unboxing, all in one?! Truly you are spoiling us!
HOLY CRACKING!!!! IT'S THE BARD!!!
IT HAS BEEN SO LONG!!!
I missed your videos! Glad to see you again!
He’s back!!! Please stay with us. The quarantined world needs more cracking unboxing’s!
I’m so glad to see you back!
Surprising trivia, Red Sonja was NEVER intended to be a part of Robert E Howard's Conan series. Red Sonja was a proto-Cossack adventurer created by Howard for a story set in the 16th century. Red Sonja's character was imported into the Hyborian Age after his death and the chainmail bikini was Marvel Comics doing.
"Now there is a weapon that could cleve a serpent" is a phrase I need to weave into future conversations... Preferably at work.
We want more from the bard, doesnt matter if it´s unboxings, reviews, gameplay or just talking, just bless us with more content.
OMG HE IS BACK!!!!
I just found this channel. What a gem! This channel has a feel that is soo nostalgic. 80s metal, fantasy table tops, monster/horror films.
Why can't I find audio books read with the passion and diction that The Bard excells at. I suppose a humble thespian only feels shame at having to recite anything other than Shakespeare and these sentiments come across loudly in typical readings. Whereas The Bard holds such materials in high regard and imposes his passion on the words with greater aplomb than a mere actor, with their constrained distain, will ever achieve.
If only a publishing house might thrust a sack of gold coin The Bard's way and sit him upon a microphoned throne for a complete reading of his favorate works of fiction. If only.
Oh Bard, gleefully did I rush for a calm place to enjoy what the herald had proclaimed, a new song by the beloved Bard!
Your unexpected return filled this faithful listener of your arts with joy that could only be surpassed by news of.... Unfortunate accidents happening to elves. Thank thee oh great one!
Always a glorious day when the bard returns. Hail Sir!
A wizar....er..uh... Bard! Is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to. Good to see you back.
Savage Sadly this is only true from his own point of view!
THE BARD IS BACK!!!
THE BARD IS BACK!
I understand that maybe youtube is not main passion for you, good sir. But if you ever considered, it would be amazing, to hear you read stories. I can't stress enough how amazing that would be. You have an amazing talent for rhetoric that is not being shared with the rest of the world and the world misses out on so much right now.
He's back, and he's awesome as ever! Not only the hero we want, but also the hero we deserve!
The bard is absolutely and indeed the man, total and uncompromising deliberation of the statue, the comics, the old books and the spirit of pretty much everything! Thank you for all that you do...
I LOVE THE BARD
hes the kinda guy i would hang out at a Half Price Books with
I believe it was Vallejo's work with warrior women and women figures in general that hooked me onto fantasy and fantasy combat from video games to novels. This is an excellent video, thank you!
YAY!!! You're back again!!!
What I love the most about your videos is how much I am learning about the art work involved, I am gaining a whole new appreciation for imagery that I am presented with, I only wish I had found your channel sooner!
Made my day!! I shall save this delicacy for prime time viewing with a tankard of Bugmans XXXX 🍻
the way you talk about the figures is truly lyrical. You transport us in the world of the statue and that is wonderful! Your love for the genre, and the media it is presented in, is always moving. I'm not a big fan of statues and figures but your unboxing videos make me want to see them as you do. Thanks for your work!
Me watching The Bard's Heroquest video for time 5101st time: "Does he still make videos?" Me: "Yes, but not very often because he releases quality content." The Bard: "Time for another cracking unboxing!" And on no less on a statue of her boxing moniker, Red Sonja. Thanks for releasing awesome content!
I could watch the bard unboxing and reboxing random items and reviewing/analyzing them all day.
All hail, the return of the Legendariest Dwarf of the all Legendaries in existence!
A Legendary dwarf that is So Legendary that he need not but himself to wipe out all Runelords!
Welcome back, Dear Bard. You have been missed.
Just wanted to contribute that you are great at this, and I am a huge fan.
So much so, that I am not even particularly a fan of miniature gaming or fantasy sculpture (though in general I love board gaming), but I still love your videos, and can watch them several times over. I can't get enough of the depth and artistry you put into your critiques. You evaluate a thing in it's entire context. In this video, you're discussing a sculpture that I otherwise would likely pass by without a second glance at my FLGS... But you manage to trace it's meaning and place in our world, all the way from our childhood discovery of Grace Jones (I remember that too, I was I think 6, did you know she was dating Dolph Lundgren around that time?), all the way to the contemplation of our own mortality and the exhilaration of life as evinced by violent imagery. I just wanted to add to the chorus that you are excellent at this, and really add to the color of our world by what you do. Thank you.
HE IS BACK!
Prophecy foretold of your triumphant return, but time and bitterness wore my hopes down to ash. I was a fool to doubt.
It's great to have you back, mate.
A blessing! A blessing from the lord!
Beard be praised!
Glad to have you back. Please don’t wait a year to visit us again.
I've not been so thrilled to see a UA-cam notification since January of 2019.
I feel like a night of drinking and games would be amazing with this guy.
It's Friday night in Scotland and it's half past eight. It's sunny. 10/10. I had a BBQ with fillet steak. 10/10. The Bard has uploaded a new one. The best evening ever is now complete. 'Liked' without even watching it yet....... I've Gentleman Jack being poured..............
The White Dwarf has returned!
I always enjoy these unboxings plus I passively learn a bit about sculpture
When we needed him most, he returned
Huzzah he has returned. I genuinely enjoy your reviews, and how you examine the depth and detail and meaning behind each piece, even the art you aren't reviewing. Where as most reviewers would simply comment on the look Is construction, you always add more.
No one:
Literally none in all the land:
The Bard: *The Return of The King*
:-D
Truly, the greatest assessment and appraisal of a statue! The likes of which, not just I but possibly, the world has ever seen!
It has roused me from my mental slumber, and invigorated my mind and body!
My gratitude is endless! Unfathomable even!
The BARD returns glorious and mighty is this day in these times
My heart skipped a beat and my lost focus upon seeing a new Bard video. Don't wake me, this dream is where I live now.
I forgot all about the global pandemic for 22 minutes and 20 seconds whilst watching this video. :-)
Yee all waited for such a Bardics return. A welcomed good friend to the notifications section!
When you point it out, you can no longer not see it. A grin or grimace with some teeth or a parted lips gasp or finally getting to relax a touch would be a nice touch.
That's an extremely cute dog!
I just love his personality with this it's great. Over the top and ridiculously funny at the same time. Just discovered him yesterday. Instant subscription after only one video.
HE’S BACK!!!!! :D
If he didn’t say picky wickies I would have cried but he did :)
Welcome back, Bard. We never needed you more.
