Good review! I think it was telling how during all the post-release hype for Village that people, myself included, were ranking each of the games sections and often not judging the game as a whole. The Castle, Dollhouse, and Factory are all interesting ideas and have their moments but would be much better as fully fleshed out games rather than just moments of a much larger adventure.
Wow man, I feel like we played two very different games. This game was a joy to experience and a cool merging of the gameplay style established in 7 with the more action oriented style of 4. But I'm not going to act like your opinion is wrong, your more than welcome to have a different one from me of course.
Of all the reviews I've seen since launch, this has to be the best one. There are severe design flaws no one wants to talk about, but you didn't shy away from it - while also not coming across as negative for the sake of it. That last sentence hits hard. Incredible video.
great video. most village critiques I have seen just focused on the bad stuff but this video also shows where the game suceeded. I also havent seen most people acknowledge the video from capcom about the development.
Agree with your analysis here! It's a shame that they gave up the more claustrophobic fear of (much of) RE7 for a map broader in scope, and then didn't use that space to its full potential re: combat. Still loved the game, but hopefully a sequel will be able to give us the best of both worlds.
