    Thanks for the video.
    Two days ago, i went to hit the alarm on my 2014 Buick LaCrosse Premium and got no light flash and nothing was on. So i had to use the key inside the fob to unlock the door. After doing that, i popped the hood open and suspect it was the battery.
    Well yesterday (Thursday) i attempted to take the battery out and was a bit confused when it came to the positive terminal. After viewing your video, now i see it's a simple process.

      Glad the video was helpful! When it first happened to me it was very confusing as to what was going on.

      I’m having a problem getting the relay box (or whatever it is) off. The nut will absolutely not budge. I tried WD 40, so far no luck. Any suggestions?
      I don’t want to break something.

    • @floridarusticrepairs

      @@christopherhamilton5557That's wild. You must have a lot of corrosion under there. Can you remove the nut diagonally across towards the firewall? If so, you should still be able to get that out of the way. WD-40 is not the best penetrating oil. Try Mystery Oil if you've got some. Good luck!

      @@floridarusticrepairs the other one just spins, like the bottom and the top rotate together. I tried to get a pair of channel locks in there to grip it while I turned the top with the ratchet, but I couldn’t get in there tight enough because of how cramped that area is. This battery is so dead I’m not sure if I can even jump it. But if I can get it started, I’m not sure even O’Reillys or advance Auto will be able to get this thing off. There’s a shop up the street from my house, I might stop in there and see if they have any other suggestions. They’ve worked on the car before, but not for this. This is very aggravating, I’ve replaced batteries many times in cars and I’ve never seen one like this.

      @@christopherhamilton5557That sucks. I don't know that you'll be able to jump it. I wasn't able to jump mine. You may need a second battery. Also, once you have power hooked up you need to give it a minute or so for the computer before you start it. Those little jump boxes seem to work. It's tough to develop a plan without being there so about all I can do is offer suggestions. Along with penetrating oil try tapping around the nuts to try to break them free. Any chance you can work the other end of either of those cables? I think one is a ground so you may be able to disconnect that one at the body. I've sold my Lacrosse so I can't even go out and look at mine for ideas.

    Great video. Thank you for sharing and thank your camera person too! After about an hour trying to figure it out, I came across your video, thank goodness, saved a lot of time and effort.

    Great tutorial! Thanks! You went through it step by step with ease.
    However it is a good idea to take that black strap off that's next to the positive + clamp.
    Also after all is hooked up there's a command to open and close windows on front drivers AND passenger side. Never heard about this one before.. it took me about 15 min to finish. A breeze! Good as a song by ABBA!!

      @floridarusticrepairs  11 місяців тому +1

      Thanks! Yes, after it started it did tell me to put the drivers window down but not the passenger. That's a strange step in the process. ABBA is for sure classic.

    Thank you for sharing. I was truly confused as to how to take the old battery out.. there’s more steps involved than what I’m used to. I didn’t want to wait until my husband came home to change it out.

      Glad I was able to help! Yes, it's a lot of added steps that weren't needed for older cars but overall, Buick's are still one of the easiest cars to work on.

    thanks for the video my friend! i just bought a lacrosse from an elderly woman that didnt drive it much, only 16K miles and it has the original battery in it. so im thinking of changing the battery out based on its age alone, the car is a 2013

      Buicks bought from senior citizens are the best used car values out there. Great cars, usually low miles and well kept.

      @floridarusticrepairs yeah it has an impeccable service record, "well maintained " (regular oil changes) carfax and no accidents. even tho she was only driving 1200 miles a year she was still bringing it every 5 months to the dealership for oil changes and other fluid changes

      @floridarusticrepairs i was actually a little worried about it only having 16K miles on it cause its not good for cars to just sit and not be used, but when i saw the car it was obvious it was garage kept its entire life

      It's really weird. So, a battery is too dead to turn the engine over but it has enough power to flash the lights, beep the horn and even put windows down? So unnatural.

      @@floridarusticrepairs thank you very much. I grew up poor and I bought my first car out of a junk yard, a 1980 ford fairmount with red vinyl interior and silver oxidized paint. Me and my elderly parents actually checked out books from our local library to use as how to guides. I busted my knuckles more than a few times fixing many things on it over the years, I even changed my oil and rotated the tires. Those were the days and that’s how things were, I miss that old car( it didn’t even have the separate key to lock the doors) so I never locked them. Thank you for your time, I appreciate you reading my comment.

    • @floridarusticrepairs
      @floridarusticrepairs  8 місяців тому

      Mine has a key for the driver door inside the remote. I just hit a button on the key fob and the metal key swings out. I've seen some key fobs where the key is quite well hidden in it but you should have a regular mechanical key lock for the driver door. I hope this helps.

    What tabs cannot find them

    • @floridarusticrepairs
      @floridarusticrepairs  7 місяців тому

      The two tabs are at the back towards the firewall on the left and right. Basically, two plastic edges with a catch are pushed into the slots. To remove the cover you simply push the edge in towards the battery a bit so it doesn't catch and lift the cover off. I hope this helps.
